  1. I agree with Harry, but this is a beautiful model! Great colors, well done!! Sam
  2. Looks like you have a great save in the works! The chop and channel are good ideas. I'm eager to see it finished! Sam
  3. Great job on grinding out that exhaust! It must have been a lot of tedious work. Sam
  4. I was hoping no one would notice that mold line. I didn't see it till after the model was painted and I was too lazy to redo it! Sorry. I didn't detail the engine and the chassis is just sprayed with flat black. Once again - lazy! Plus I usually display my 50's cars in the parking lot of a 1950's style diner diorama with their hoods closed, so no one sees the engines. My eyes have a tough time at age 64 with tiny wires and hoses!
  5. Very good builds! It's nice to see some AMC stuff being saved. Good work! Sam
  6. Hey guys, I found this Revell lowrider kit on ebay a while ago and built it stock, except that it's lowered a bit. I like that the side trim is separate chrome pieces - much less foiling required! The pieces have pins which fit into holes in the body, as do the door handles and mirrors. I've had so many of these parts fall off of other models. It went together well with no fit issues except for a little sanding of the hood and trunk hinges to let the hood and trunk close completely, and trimming off the chrome trim pins to let the chassis fit into place. Paint is Krylon ocean breeze, which looked close to some photos of '58's I've seen online. The white roof is just the white primer with Wet look clear sprayed over the whole car. Three mirrors, Harry! Enjoy! Kit decals on the seats. The muggy weather here in central PA delayed the painting for almost a week! I like the '58 Chevies. They don't get the attention that the tri-fives get, but they were nice looking cars. Sam
  7. Nice Camaro! Great looking interior and the wheels look good! Nice work! Glad you're back. Sam
  8. Man, that is NICE! I've always liked the XK-120, and your model is just about perfect! Great work! Sam
  9. Very nice! The weathering is very realistic looking - not overdone. Nice work! Sam
  10. Cool! It looks "crusty", and has a ton of character! Great rust and weathering work! Sam
  11. Wow! Great custom work! I like the Buick trim, and the changes to the headlight buckets and taillight bezels. Very nice build! Sam
  12. My brother had a 66 Galaxie convertible, and was slowly restoring it when he died in 2007. I was his heir and executor of his estate and could have kept the car, but I didn't have the time, place, or money to finish it, so I sold it to a guy in Maryland. It was solid - no frame, trunk, or floorboard rust, and had a current inspection sticker. It had a 351 in it, but that was not the original engine. It needed body work, a top, and front seats. Here's what it looked like when I sold it. Sam
  13. Great model! You did a good chop job on that engine. It looks like it was made as a four banger. Very good work. Sam
  14. I'm sorry to hear he died. He was a good actor. I used to watch Crime Story just to see the 1960's cars. Sam
  15. Beautiful Fords, Tulio! I always liked the Galaxies. The finishes on your models are perfect! Great work! I also have a set of AMT Galaxie models from 1959 to 1969, and a 1970 LTD. Mine were built back in the 1960's when they were annual kits. I've kept them all these years untouched, except for the 1959, which I repainted and added a resin continental kit and fender skirts. They don't look as good as your models, since I was a teenager when I built them. I attached a couple photos of them in the cupboard where I keep them. Sam
  16. Update: I modified a G scale model train figure into an ice cream man and stood him beside his truck. It was in my car show diorama in a display today at a local car show in state College, PA. Here's a pic. He was a popular guy today! Sam
  17. Welcome. Bob! Your story is familiar to me. I built model cars as a teen in the 1960's, then got into R/C planes (which I still build and fly), and didn't build cars for 32 years. I bought a Revell 32 Ford coupe at a Michael's store in 2003, and I'm back for 10 years now. It gets in your blood, I guess! Sam
  18. Great save of a rare model! The finish looks good. Blueline tires are a nice touch. Sam
  19. Very creative idea, and very well done! Maybe put a machine gun on the hood?! Nah, you'd get pulled over quick! Sam
  20. Clean build, great finish! The wheels and subtle lowering make the model. Good work! Sam
  21. Wow! That's a beauty! Great colors and the decals look perfect! Very nice work! Sam
  22. Great concept, and well done! It looks like something Batman would have for space travel! Very cool! Sam
  23. That phone booth is amazing! GREAT work on it! Samn
  24. Great looking '49! I like the color - looks right for that car. Nice work on opening the doors and trunk! Sam
  25. Great looking Rambler! AMC made some good looking cars back then. I'm glad to see such a unique subject being saved. Nice job! Sam
