  1. Just a few miles west of that one at Astrella. You can see it just south of I-10. Most of the Testors bottle paint is gone, they were $1.00ea. Do you ever go into the Brass Armadillo antique mall at Dysart & McDowell?
  2. Both spray cans. The Dupli-Color can says "Acrylic Lacquer Clear Coat"
  3. More nice ones Tom. I think the Jeep is Spec-Cast. They did a panel also. Here's you a very nice Chevy van in 1/25 by Diecast Promotions. Dodge Power Wagon 1/25 by Ertl
  4. Had to make a seat bracket as well. I'm going to have to strip the paint and start over. Way too many paint chips. I ordered some Prairie gold and new decals.
  5. You are correct Harry. I'm one of the serious diecast fans and actually get more enjoyment altering one than building a kit from start. With about 40000 pcs, I have plenty to play with. At least a few of the resin bodies out there have been cast off of diecast models. Tom, I think the Chevy wrecker is Saico. I have a couple stashed here somewhere for the beds. Like you I also have a few of the panels and step vans. The First Gear trucks are real nice. I saw a 1960 Ranchero today by MoterMax that looked pretty good. It measured about 8in long.
  6. Jonathan, That one is more detailed than mine, lol I noticed the front axle is different, maybe because it's a GB. Thanks for posting them. I think I have one like that NF also. Lance, That is what I use. It is a better one at round $30.00. I tried one of those $7.00 ones and throw it away. The best tool I have is the ceramic plate that has the holes in it. It doesn't effect the heat transfer and is perfectly flat. You can stick pins in the holes to help hold items together as well.
  7. Our WallyMart has all the kits and paint on mark down with the big red sale tags. Looks like they are cleaning them out again. O'Reilly Auto Parts has all the Dupli-Color engine paint in the 12oz cans marked down to $5.49. Maybe they are changing them over to the smaller 8oz? cans like their other paint. That engine paint goes on nice and is rated for 500 degrees, good for us Arizona builders
  8. That is looking quite nice. Are you planning on making the "Ranger" emblem for the grill?
  9. There is also a Testor Clear enamel #1237, For myself, I wouldn't even try this. By the way, that Willys is ModelMaster Base Coat lacquer with Duplicolor clear.
  10. He's one of my current projects. I got this MM GTB in a box lot with a broken axle and seat. The tractor is a rather rare 1/16 scale model and in the $200.00 range so It needed to be saved.
  11. Here is a photo of my high detailed model 1/64 trailer. It is made by Diecast Promotions. Maybe you can get one of these and scale it up.
  12. Yes. I'm sure they could be built up even deeper but I think some of the real deep clear coats look out of scale, kind off like the large metal flakes. I easily get them as good or better than the factory diecast paint jobs Here is one of my latest with no polishing.
  13. The issues you explain now, only after polishing is a different story than we started with. Yes, if you are using polish with silicone that is the problem. Another note, if you have used those polishes on any paint and decide to do some sanding, wash the wax off good before you start sanding. Sanding will just keep rubbing the wax into the paint. Again, I wash mine with Rubbing alcohol, usually the 70% but I also have 91% for the tough stuff. I seldom need to polish my paint. Practice, practice, practice!
  14. I think there is a limit on how many Mopar guys are allowed.

You can't beat that. Make a gasser out the donor car.
  16. Lance, That's probably about right. I sold these when we had the store for $19.00 and that was 9 yrs ago. Thank you, dragzz, I should post that build.
  17. Interesting question. Mostly, after clear coats, then polishing, I need to touch-up the paint (or clear). and start over again. All too frequently, I end up with paint looking like it's being sprayed on top of wax, despite washing the model thoroughly with soapy water, followed by a prolonged rinse. The photo below is what has become an all too common sight after touch-ups. This one too will now have to be stripped, if I am to ever achieve the sort of finish that I think I should be capable of. It's actually what appears to be an exaggerated fisheye sort of problem, and for the life of me, I cannot figure out what the heck I'm doing wrong. As far as I am aware, the model is squeaky clean, but still this problem persists. It's hard to tell in your photo but it almost looks like it was sprayed too close and too heavy. The too heavy is easy to do with the Testors nozzles. just before I spray I wipe everything down with plain old Rubbing Alcohol and NEVER touch the surface with bare hands. I have not seen a fish in 20 years. Practice on junk plastic or plastic spoons until you figure it out.
  18. Lance, That would be the one if it's a Tamiya. The wire spreaders are adjustable and will work on most 1/18. The flat turntable is great and comes with clips you hold parts with. I have two sets and really like them. This is a GMP 32 Ford and you can see the there is still one more hole to go. They should be a $22.00? for the set.
  19. Kevin, I never use the cheap Testors line due to it's poor quality. I have had a lot of issue with the Model Masters sprays but it's only nozzle issues. Most of their nozzles spray way too heavy mist and even splatters that will ruin a paint job real quick. I save any nozzle that sprays fine, even from the large cans and use them when needed. I have been using Dupli-Color Acrylic Lacquer lately and find it very nice. What is actually happening with you paint jobs?
  20. I have had good luck with a few different clears except the enamels. This cab was painted with Createx and clear coated with cheap Mod Podge Acrylic clear. It won a trophy at the local model contest. For the last couple of years now I have been using Dupli-Color Acrylic lacquer clear over this paint and and the MM lacquer paints with great success.
  21. Not sure if it's still available but they also had a Flat Lacquer, Dull Coat. It works great if you want the faded out look.
  22. Here is the "Green Machine" version or Chase car as they are called.
  23. 1941 Dodge Power Wagon from the TV show Gearz. It is 1/64 diecast and is nicely detailed for that size. A portion of the proceeds go to The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.
  24. Thanks for the nice comments. Lance, No, it is made by Tamiya and come with a flat round turntable.
