Thanks Ray. I love doing these and it's easy to make some extra hobby money This a beverage truck made by London Toys and is about 3 in long. The paint is Createx acrylic. Very easy to use, pretty hard to mess this stuff up. This one is Tootsietoy and is about 4 in long. I painted it with MM Lacquer Hugger orange and did not clear coat it. I just polished it with a automotive polish and it made it look more like the original paint. Clear coat looks great but too glossy for old toys.

Looking good. I think now the parking lights look too big. Are you going to make a mold of this when you're done? -

Has anyone used the Testors/Aztec paints?
AzTom replied to Monty's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I just posted this in the diecast section. I tried this paint for the first time a few days ago and think it's the best acrylic ever. Went on smooth and covered well. I used the Aztec airbrush with white nozzle and about 20 PSI. Clear coated about an hour later. This is the Pearl Copper. -
These are a few old diecast trucks and cars from my junk box that needed paint jobs. I dig some of these out every now and then to test new paints or just practice on. Some I will keep in the collection, others I will sell at the antique mall for hobby money. They were all stripped and primed with self etching primer. This is a Midgetoy Ford wrecker about 3 in long. It's paint with Testors MM Guard red with a drop of hardener added. Midgetoy 58 Corvette about 2-1/4 in long. Painted with Testors Aztec acrylics. This is with out a doubt the best acrylic paint I have ever sprayed in an airbrush. Here we have both Corvettes, one Copper and the other Guard Red finished.

Very nice, My first car was a black 56 VW. Is this one black or dark green?

Manny, knowing what you do to Franklin mint models, I was afraid to open this one when I saw Airstream camper. I'm glad you found a scrap one, these are pricey. I like what you did to this and will be perfect for a junk yard office.

I have one of those here somewhere but couldn't find my photos.

Testors is a great company and I'm betting they will take care of you. I'm not sure this applies to the paint but i thought it to be quite interesting. A few years ago we packed the truck with our usual box of snacks and a cooler in the back seat for a trip to the Iowa summer farm show. A few hours out of Phoenix we are high up in the White mountains in north east Arizona went we started hearing a snapping sound in the back of the truck. After several miles of this snapping sound every ten minutes or so we pulled into a parking lot to investigate. Pulling stuff from our snack box we found our bag of potato chips was just about a perfect round ball, looked like a basket ball. Obviously the sealed air in the bag was greater than the high altitude air. -
Testors bottle paint issues
AzTom replied to Travis T's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I think there is a tremendous difference. Covers better and flows better. I have several that are are least 15 years old. They do cost more but the bottle is twice the size so it's minimal. I would recommend adding the hardener if you want to airbrush enamels. I just tried Tetors Aztec Acrylic aribrush paint for the first time and it went on very nice. I'll posting some photos in the diecast section. -
Testors bottle paint issues
AzTom replied to Travis T's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Which Testors are you using, Testors or the Model Masters by Testors? I have always though the Testors in the square bottles was a poor quality paint. The MM has been good to me although it takes awhile to dry but most enamels do, love the black chrome.. I can't remember ever needing two coats. I just air brushed the Guard red MM with a drop of hardener in it and man did it come out nice. -

If this is referring to my comment, your statement is incorrect. Testors did replace them, although he did say that three year old paint was past it's recommended life. They were new fresh cans when I bought them. I do agree that paint and glue should be dated but like many have testified here, many do out last their recommended like. Did you know acetone free nail polish remover does have an expiration date? It is real hard to find on the bottle but worth looking for. It doe not work well after it's expired but I find it in stores all the time. -

The cans seem as heavy as the older ones, the leak is always at a seam. I don't think your tubing is a "use thinner material to save a few cents" issue. If that were the case they would no longer fit inside each other. K&S makes 2 different wall thicknesses as well as a soft bendable tubing. -

The MM cans leaking has been talked about a few times here. When I first had this issue around 2009, I had twenty plus can that leaked, some worse than the one posted here. I contacted Testors and they verified the date by the numbers on the bottom that they were three years old which is when I bought them. Testors told me that was beyond the recommended life of the paint. That said, they did replace the paint after I returned the leaking ones. I have since had more that leaked some but I don't know if they are the rest of my old cans or some of the new replacement cans. So, the leaking cans go back at least to 2006. I have used cans that have small leaks and had no issues. All of mine have been store in controlled environment since new. A asked this question the last time i saw this mentioned on here and don't think it got answered. Why is the stuff that leaks out clear and never the color? -
That not bad looking car. Nice right up. I have a few models from the USSR, mostly early 1900 cars in 1/43.
