Kits gone at WalMart again
AzTom replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I posted this here in early Aug. I have not been back to see if they have reset the toy dept. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/104560-walmart-kits-oreillys-paint-sale/ -
Bill, Those Olivers are my favorite. You know Scale Models made the one you have in 1/25 also. I like the tow truck. Would like to see a WIP here on that one. Here's one I did several years ago. This on is 1/34. The bed is First Gear and the truck is SpecCast.

I would be all over that one. I have most all the HW61 trucks in 1/16 but they are just too big next to the 1/18 cars.
-
Another First Gear Metro van in 1/25 with opening side and rear doors. This is like the Mack Roadrunner mentioned. First Gear in 1/25 scale with opening hood and doors. Dodge van by First Gear in 1/25 scale. You can click on the photos to go to my fotki page and see more photos of these trucks.

Marc, You could be correct. Marx toys made vehicles for 40 plus years that were close to the real cars, trucks and tractors but far enough off to avoid licensing. The Ertl Co. did not renew the Mack license in the late 90's and just change the grill bars and took the name off to keep making the 1/64 diecast truck. I think I have seen Superliner used in other trades, I'm thinking it was a pickup bed liner for awhile.

WOW! This is an awesome build. -
That's pretty wild Ray, I like it.

Great start. I like the hinged engine covers.

Missing Link Parts Page started on website!
AzTom replied to kevin l's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Sorry, I followed the link above http://www.missinglinkrc.com/ and it has a Gallery. On that site it also locks up when you click Feedback and FAQ. I thought they should expand also, probably a glitch. -

I just had the same issue as JTalmage. Also if you click on the Gallery the Home page won't even work, you are stuck on the Gallery page. On the Kits page I could click on the item and get a larger photo and description, on the Parts page none of the items would expand. I was able to them to the cart though. -
Thanks, I wanted to keep this one as close to original as I could. I'm sure I have some MM's with Wheatland fenders packed away.
-
Thanks. The barn was made by Ohio Art. It is tin but only 8 in wide. The JD and Ford tractors are Ertl 1/43.

So, it that the issue, the paint hardened up in the bottom of the bottle? Mine settled to the bottom and would not shake up but did stir up rather easily to thicken it up and cover well.

I found it, Last week I took it up to the great room to show the wife what I was working on and then set it on the top of a display cabinet, dinner was ready Ready for the show. Parked with a few more Molines

I would guess a real one of these would be worth some money today.

Thanks Brian, I only had one real tractor, a Ford 8n with a Wagner loader. Making the loader out of brass in on my bucket list. I do love the model tractors and several thousand to back that up,lol Ok, back to the MM. I have a serious problem, can't find the new front axle. What do you think so far? I don't know how long my helper can hold this so I'm off to find that axle.

Thanks for the kind words. Jonothan, Is this the GP your talking about? Brian, That is a very nice looking tractor. I bought this kit at least 20-25 yrs ago and it cam in a small clear bag with no markings. I don't remember who cast these or where I bought it, sorry I have a Pony in 1/16 scale that was made by JLE Scale Models. Should be able to find one of these for around $30.00. Universal Hobbies has a 1/43 that is more detailed than the kit I built for around $18.00. I think I saw that UH will also be doing a high detailed 1/16 scale Pony. JLE 1/16

Jet Sweep X5: 1/64 Jet car Resto-Mod **FINISHED**
AzTom replied to ismaelg's topic in Diecast Corner
I like it. I would agree that the rear wheels would look better in the machined aluminum color. -
Nice! I found a steering wheel and decided to add an air cleaner. I also black washed the grill. This was a fun quick build. Loaded ready for the tractor show.

Ray, The screw heads still show a little so as I mentioned, they had to come off. I just hit them with the Dremel. The decal is on a red background so the paint is going to have to match that rather close. Digging through my test spoons I found MM lacquer Flame Red a near perfect match. After seeing how nice it looked in red, I decided the flat disc steering wheel was not going to work either. Off to the parts bins.

I found this kit in a box that has been stashed away for maybe 20 years so I decided it was time to make a display piece out of it. Got it cleaned up some, holes drilled, front and rear axles assembled. And in primer. Going to have to grind off those screw heads. Thanks for looking.

In addition to the things already posted, I would say 3-5 inches is way too close for rattle cans.
