  1. Nice Cobra Virgil. That is a nice kit to work with. gus
  2. That van is happenin' as we used to say in the 70s. Just as I remember them. Is it OOB or did you add some "accessories"? I also remember most of them having the side pipes like those that weren't hooked up. Nice gus
  3. This is why there are so few of them left. The bodies all rusted away and the engines were gone in 50,000 miles. I had a neighbor who had a new one that his grandparents gave him. He was in the Coast guard and left it parked at the beach for a year while he was away. When he returned there was almost nothing left of the body and the car was only a year old! gus
  4. Great work! The chassis is very realistic looking and the color choice and paint work are outstanding. gus
  5. It's nice to see your work and welcome to the forums. Always room for more classic drag cars. gus
  6. Well I FINALLY got to do some painting on this one. The weather here is terrible for outdoor painting. Went with Chrysler GTS Blue Pearl laquer from MM and it looks a bit dark but it's close enough for me. Still working on the seam in the roll cage hoop. gus
  7. It is a tricky kit to get right and it is amazing that AMT pulled this off back when this kit was first released. I can't believe I built one when I was only 10 or 11 years old. You have to build this thing in a very specific order to get things to line up well. For example the rear axle can't be properly located until the bellhousing is in place. gus
  8. I am very sorry for your loss Darin. God bless you and your family. gus
  9. Made some more progress on this one.The seat and front end are now in place. Engines and Moon tank are not glued yet and the fit of the intake pipes are ...well...giving me a fit but I will prevail. gus
  10. Yep, looks like you DID nail it! I'm diggin' them stainless mudflaps. gus
  11. I was looking for a cheap way out but I have decided to get an interior trim kit that looks like carbon fiber and will cover all of the cheap silver painted trim. The cheap interior is the only thing that disappoints me about this car and the same thing is stated in all of the reviews so I was aware of it from the beginning. gus
  12. I just bought a Ford Focus and the silver trim in the interior has some scratches and small stains. It looks to be nothing but silver paint (yeah I know, cheap but it is an economy car)so I was thinking maybe I could use Rub n Buff silver to cover the damage. Any suggestions? The interior is otherwise pristine. gus
  13. Here's one more of the cockpit detail. The dash is covered with bmf and doesn't look that rough textured in reality. I hate to cover the nice quick change with that chrome cover but they were used back then. I'm also going to paint the harness on the seat. gus
  14. Finally got some more done on this one. Wired both engines and assembled more of the chassis. The red brush paint gives it that epoxy coated look and if you look closely I had to notch the left side rail to clear the oil filter. gus
  15. Thanks for the replies everybody. I built this one to look like an old gasser that the owner put up for sale but not before he yanked his good wheels and replaced them with plain steelies. I still intend to add a radiator cap and a tag to cover the ejector pin mark on the plate. gus
  16. That's not a Quadrajet but the precursor to the Quadrajet. gus
  17. The Hobbico blades are not sharp enough. gus
  18. Wow Cranky, you are REALLY serious about the hobby. Great stuff! gus

Great weathering and I think I saw that guy in a movie. gus
  20. Beeyootiful! gus
  21. That is an outstanding model gus
  22. Man that is a classic. Great work. gus
  23. Had a wip of this one on MCM a couple of years ago but never posted the finished model. Almost everyone should be able to tell what kit this was built from. gus
  24. Great work! I wouldn't even attempt those wire wheels myself. I have always felt that this was one of the most accurate dragster kits ever right from the box. MPC paid attention when they tooled this kit. I remember buying the box with Garlits in his Captain America fire suit for box art when I was a kid. gus
