  1. i have been watching this thread for a long time now but haven't commented because I just don't know what to say. The scale fidelity and clean worksmanship just blow me away. gus
  2. I really envy you guys that can build these tube frames and keep everything aligned. Fantastic work! gus
  3. Thanks for taking the time and effort to post this but it would be much easier for me to understand if it had some pics to go with it. gus
  4. Here is some of the paint work on the DD kit: The body is Tamiya pearl white over the bare plastic and the chassis is brush painted with Testors enamel just like in the old days. It took a month to dry! The engines are also brushed with Testors enamel and took just as long to dry. The silver parts are Tamiya metallic silver which is very bright. So far, I have drilled the exhausts and the engines for plug wires Thanks for looking gus
  5. Finally getting some bench time after the holidays and started my Double Dragster and Mongoose RED kits. Here is a mockup of the Mongoose car: Most of the parts cleanup work is done and the chassis, body and engine are ready for paint. Should the engine be black or bare aluminum for this period? Also, what shade of blue would be correct for the chassis? From what I can tell I will only need to paint the body white and add the decals. Can't wait to get more of this one done as the early REDs were some of my favorite dragsters. Any advice will be appreciated. Oh boy, this is gonna be great! gus
  6. I keep going back and looking at this one again and again. It's perfect in concept and execution. gus
  7. I have yet to see one of these finished that wasn't a work of art and this one is no exception. gus
  8. That is a fantastic finish and good building. gus
  9. You get my respect just for building it at all. Nice job. gus
  10. Beautiful model . Wonder what a real one would sound like with those long pipes? I love the mill too. gus
  11. Very nice! The sunken plate is a nice touch. gus
  12. That is a very well done model - clean and tight . gus
  13. That looks great Nick! Some baby moons would fit right in with the early 60s vibe. Love the seats. gus
  14. OK, so I got my replacement body from Revell and it is exactly the same as the original one - paper thin and short shot around the rear wheel openings . I guess this one won't get built for awhile. The body mold appears to be shot for this kit.
  15. That looks great! It's actually nice to see a kit built using decals right from the box matching the box art. gus
  16. I got mine from Hobbylinc yesterday and it looks really good. None of the quality issues that I found in my Jungle Jim Vega kit which were mentioned in another thread. Can't wait to get started on it. gus
  17. They were the custom wheel covers that came in the original AMT kit. gus
  18. To me the downside is spending too much time online and not getting anything built. gus
  19. Oh yeah! That's a great way to return to posting. I really like the setting too. gus

  23. Ha ha that's pretty cool. gus
  24. Didn't AMT do one with an engine? I'm sure my uncle had a convertible kit with one when I was a kid. gus
