  1. Thanks for sharing your album. Beautiful stuff here. gus
  2. Due to my job, I'm only able to get any time at the bench on my off days so updates will only happen about once a week. After giving it some thought, I decided that the best way to deal with cleaning up and painting the chassis and seat pan was to cut the roll bar away from the seat. As you can see, I got some more engine work done. And did I mention that I got this one the other day? thanks for looking gus
  3. Got this one: Slowly adding to my vintage drag car stash. gus
  4. That is a shame as the rest of the model looks very well preserved. On the bright side it's a fairly clean break and should be easy to fix unless you were wanting to leave it in original condition. gus
  5. Thanks for pointing out the Apollo 1 disaster as those guys should always be remembered as national heros. gus
  6. Nicely done kit. Too bad it is a kit of a butt fugly, ill proportioned car. Try as I might, I just can't see the beauty in these monstrosities. And just so I won't appear biased because I'm a Mopar man, I would like to say that I feel the same way about the Chargers. gus
  7. Fantastic build of a great kit. More please gus
  8. I like the wheels and the grille bar. Paint color is good too. gus
  9. Another nice one. That kit is hard enough to build even without doing a conversion. gus

    68 Camaro.

That is just outstanding. I love it. gus
  11. Ooh, nice work gus
  12. As long as I get to see other peoples finished models it is OK with me. Like Niko said, it's a good way to see different interpretations of the same subject. gus
  13. I also would like to thank everyone for sharing their knowledge. gus
  14. Looks just like the real thing. gus
  15. That is some beautiful work! If you cut the decal into 2 half circles it will lay down well. gus
  16. Sadly NHRA pro drag racing has become the same as NASCAR - a marketing tool and formula racing. All pro class cars have to be pretty much alike inside of their respective classes and real innovation not allowed. Made for TV sport. gus
  17. Thanks but I,m not buying that monstrosity just to get the slicks gus
  18. Feel free to follow along. I got the body clear coated today and the rear axle painted as well. This is only the second DD that I have ever built, the first was in the late 60s when I was a preteen. More pics coming soon gus
  19. I know the slicks are too wide and the front wing configuration is wrong for the paint scheme also, the pic you posted is the box art pic but Revell has obviously changed the paint scheme and added the winglets to the picture as well as cut off the front end so the different front wing can't be seen. gus
  20. I have some Boyds true blue pearl that may be about right as it does look metallic. The drawback to using this paint is that it will take ages to dry and I don't have a dehydrator. gus
  21. You don't have to wait till I'm done to start yours. Unless you just want to learn from my mistakes . gus
  22. Hemi orange with black valve covers always looks great but I have never seen any fuel burners have an orange block. Most of them were black when they were still using iron blocks or bare metal after they went to aluminum aftermarket blocks. As for the chassis, the real car had a blue chassis but I'm not sure what shade of blue to use. gus
  23. Got a little painting done today. Shot the body in Testors classic white laquer. Painted the engine with Tamiya bare metal aluminum and the manifold and front cover with Tamiya metallic silver. My plan is to brush paint the block semi gloss black but leave the heads and oil pan aluminum. Also drilled the zoomies. More to come soon gus
  24. I understand the time it takes to post pics so I get where you are coming from. It would have taken me longer than 15 mins. to type the text . Actually I am wanting to apply your method to the Revell 1/25 funny cars as they have the same issue. gus
