  1. The 50 Olds not exciting? The 49 Oldsmobile ( add a windshield divider bar to the 50 and you have a 49) was the car that ushered in the whole OHV short stroke V8 craze that lasted 25 years. The Rocket 88 had songs written about it and rock bands named for it ! This car started the horsepower race.
  2. I'll be there, fat bearded gray headed guy with glasses in a Harley shirt.
  3. Must not have had the 40 horse engine! Mine ran faster in 3rd gear than it did in 4th. I still have it, and with an 1835 with twin Webers it does "OK" now ! LOL
  4. Sorry, Studebaker Corp. is still in business, they just haven't built cars in 45 years or so.
  5. Hobby Lobby and Michiels discount coupons.
  6. The Blues Brothers didn't drive a 50's Desoto! LOL But it would be nice to see AMT do more 50's Mopars from the 58 Plymouth and 57 300C. Heck, I'd take Jo-Han reissues to kitbash with newer kits!
  7. I'm pleased. Enough subjects I like that will keep me busy, and lots of kits I have no interest in to keep me from going broke The new Revell tools look to be very interesting.
  8. The Japanese have done many interesting European subjects in the past, and other than price and lack of engines in most of them they were well done. But I have no interest in the Japanese subjects.
  9. As far as the 70's are concerned it seems to break about 73 - 74, early is OK, later, not so much. Pre 5 MPH bumper? Or pre oil crisis? Or pre tacky stick on trim? All of the above?
  10. I worked at an Olds dealership through the 70's. I don't remember a good one coming through the door.
  11. Old's 5.7 diesel and Chrysler lean burn then.
  12. That was my point exactly. One Mustang kit doesn't cover all of the bases, and neither does one 57 Chevy kit.
  13. Rob, you posted while I was typing but you made my point. 2010, 2011, 2012 Mustang, Shelby, Boss 302, aren't they all the same car?
  14. When the 57 Belair post car was announced there was a lot of "Why another 57 Chevy when we need a (fill in the blank) instead" talk, and now some of those same people want a new Mustang kit every time the trim is changed. Go figure....
  15. I love tri five Chevys, first generation Camaros and 32 Fords, although if you frequent this forum you might think I'm the only one. (I wonder who else is buying all of them?) And I have a thought, how can someone who can't see the need for a 57 Nomad or convertible want ten versions of the 2011 Mustang? After all there is only the coupe and convertible, why would you need 10 different kits? (sarcasm if you don't see it)
  16. We all have subjects we would love to see modeled, but we need to HONESTLY think it through, "Will it sell enough kits to other modelers to pay for the tooling and make a profit?"
  17. I think it's a good mix, several I want, and plenty for those with other interest. I can't afford to but one of everything anyway.
  18. I hope so, Jo-Han had a lot of oddball but interesting subjects that would never warrant a new tool.
  19. Yes, look at AMT's reissues from the last few years for proof. "Run what you can".
  20. I bought a resin conversion to backdate the kit to a 74 or 75, but I can't remember who cast it. AFX in scale?
  21. How about leaf springs? With all of the interest in gassers and straight axles it seems that you always need leaf springs of various sizes.
  22. I'd buy a 1910 Old's Limited, but I can't think of any car or truck built after the mid 70's I really want. Cars were always about freedom, being able to get in it and go where you want to, somewhere exciting. Teenagers are the only ones who think this way today. To the rest of us cars are an appliance we use them to go where we have to go, like work or shopping. At first cars were all about "whats new this year", yearly styling changes and such. The 50's were all flashy colors, fins, chrome and V8's, the 60's were youth and horsepower. The 70's were all about lowered expectations and government intervention. I drive late model front wheel drive compacts, but I have no interest in building models of them.
