  1. I thought I'd switch coasts for this next one, decades too. A 1949 Ford RMP from the 41st precinct in the Bronx. Known later as "Fort Apache" this was a really nice neighborhood in '49. G
  2. Thank you! I take no credit, the Tamiya paint did that all by itself. G
  3. NYPD it is! Gonna be an old 4-1 rmp. G
  4. And therein lies the problem. Does "close enough" or "absolutely correct" win? No arguments about any Palmer kit, we know they aren't even "close", but a new tool 50 Olds? Military subjects can be very very touchy. I know, I build mostly armor. I also correct most every kit in some way. G
  5. This car is in a certain "state of mind". Any guesses? G
  6. The lovely MrsG saw a similar car at a local dealership. She asked if she could have one. So I built her one. Tamiya paint and clear coat, generic stripes from my spares. G
  7. Well Mr. Rodriguez, we will be waiting. G
  8. Oh my! That's pretty! G
  9. Nice, real nice. G
  10. I too am not a fan of the "look" but Civics (one of my 1:1 favs) like this tend to make me re think my position. That is really really nice. G
  11. Lord have mercy. I am not worthy. G
  12. I like! Really good attention to detail. G
  13. Can we see the chrome tree? Please? Pretty please? G
  14. Enlisted in the Marines three days after HS. I was reasonably assured Vietnam was over, and I would have an uneventful enlistment. April '75 I was in Saigon for the evacuation. (30+ years later I learned it was called Operation Frequent Wind.) In '76 I was informed of a program called the Platoon Leaders Course and that it was highly "recommended" I join. I had been to junior colledge in San Diego so Ohio State took all my credits and enrolled meas a full time student. Ohio State is a huge feeder for the Army's ROTC program so one little Marine didn't even phase them. Shortly thereafter I received a degree in Art History and a commission as a First Lieutenant in the Marine Reserves. While working as a police officer I attended the University of Missouri St Louis and received a BS in Administration of Justice. Any cop with a degree was a rarity back then, and we few received additional money for said degree. Now it's a requirement to join. I have some stories to tell regarding my time as a Buckeye, but the statute of limitations is still running. G
  15. Long ago a reknown Japanese company examined, measured, photographed and thoroughly studied a 1:1 example of a certain US armored fighting vehicle. Said kit was highly anticipated, and considered state of the art when released 30+ years ago. That was until someone who had quite a bit of experience with the real tank noticed it sat way too high. Seems our esteemed collegues from Japan examined a tank from which the engine was removed. No one noticed that at the time, therefore no one caught the fact the suspension was "unloaded". The kit in question did not have an interior nor did it have an engine so these weren't part of the initia lexam. My point, things are only as good as the engineers who make them. G
  16. Mike I haven't tried the mirrors as yet due to those very issues. I'm thinking dechrome everything, assemble, then paint using foil for the mirror surface. The work vans didn't have chrome mirrors as I recall. G
  17. Im watching this one for sure. Looking good! G
  18. Now that's a copcar! G
  19. Hub caps were attended to this morning. Pics to come. G
  20. That came out really nice. I like the tire swap. Jonathan no self respecting copper from Oz would go near one of these. G
  21. Jim I have been debating that for a week now. Looks like your suggestion decides the issue G
  22. I'll add this one to the thread as well. G
