  1. Static for sure, I find beagle dog hair in places it couldn't have reached (I think). G
  2. They had great music from that era................... G
  3. Ok then I will plan that weekend in Phoenix! Just over 90 here today, that's the warmest yet. It's taking it's time in heating up, which usually means one scorcher of a summer. Hey Martinfan - I have a couple of questions to ask regarding the cars you built. When I get home I'll PM you, ok? G
  4. Wait until you have to move the 300+ pound corpse of a not so recently deceased person, from the TOP floor of the high rise projects, to the morgue. You'll love that van then. G
  5. Looking good! I love those Bozo decals! With the demise of the CVPI, I can only imagine that those Dodges could be a reality soon. I really want to see the new Caprice, anything based on the Holden is okiedokie in my book. Hey Danno, keep reminding me about the SW Nats. in November. I will definately plan on driving there this year. G
  6. That's what we used for prisoner conveyance. I'd take at least two to start. G
  7. If I used the old Gaelic spelling of my last name no one could begin to pronounce it. G-R-A-Y is extremely close............. Thank goodness it changed a couple centuries ago to what it is now. Like Mr Donald R Gardner, I am proud of my signature, that's who I AM. G
  8. Pali thats nice and clean. Good job! G
  9. Sorry, I'm just enthusiastic about the old '49 Ford kit! Thanks all for the positive comments. I really had to push to keep on this. So much so that the Caprice is stalled, but will be finished this go 'round for sure. Oh Janne here's one I built years ago based on the Impala SS. It's a CHP recruitment car from the late '90's. I was driving a '96 Caprice at the time so all the reference I needed was at work right under the hood. Yes the radiator hoses are green, the real ones were a high heat resistant silicone compound, and mint green. G
  10. Do It!!! Here's some inspiration if you don't mind. G
  11. Tamiya acrylic thinner is a good choice and I use it frequently but, Tamiya's own laquer thinner is a good reducer also. I use it exclusively on armor and the results are all I could ask for. Goes on thin, dries fast and is durable with normal handling. Each airbrush has it's own idea on thinned paint based on air pressure. "Milk like" is a good start. Have fun! G
  12. Hey I think I drove that car............. G
  13. Dragon's PzIV G. I added the unditching log from a twig and brass wire. I actually airbrushed this lil puppy with Tamiya acrylics. G
  14. Ok even though I've been off the site for a while I have been building. Here's where I'm at as of today. Polished paint and markings. These are the decals by Bill Bozo. They were real easy to work with and took solvent well. I believe they are printed by an ALPS printer. They wouldn't be that visible on a dark car but on this one I think they are great. The kit decals only had one Dodge symbol so I used it on the front. That was another thing that pizzed me off with this kit. A few small details and this ones on the shelf. I have decided to go ahead and build the other Dodge in my stash as a black and white CHP slicktop. G
  15. Looking good there. I have two of those 300 kits in the stash, and believe it or not was considering one for a post apoc build. Seeing yours makes me want to get started post haste! G
  16. Groan, Oh go to your room................. G
  17. I use the old tried and true stretched sprue technique. Stretch some sprue, then glue it where you want the weld bead to be. I use plastic of a different color, the old eyes ain't what they used to be. I like to wait a day or so then go back and brush some good old liquid glue on the bead. Once the glue softens the sprue, I use a tool to imprint the texture. I generally use a #11 knife blade with the tip broken off to stamp the texture in. Some will take a piece of aluminum or brass tube and grind or file one end at an angle. This allows for a semi circular look to the bead more like the real thing. Personal preference, but I build a lot of armor and this works for me. G
  18. Oh now those are great! I love the back alley way the troops up armored their vehicles. You made that look good. George we (USMC) didn't have M113's, but seeing that brought back some thoughts for me too. G
  19. With my knee all buggered up I thought whoo hoo bench time! Yeah, right. Darn Dodge has sat for a week. That and I was really bummed having to miss GSL. I finally received the last of some kits I wanted to complete a pet project. I'm building a series of tanks representing USMC armor from WWII to the present. I started on one today, an M48A3 from VietNam, and lo and behold I was working on the Dodge again. Something new or different will spark the interest again. Like with the RC cars, Just Do It! G
  20. 78, clear, dry and quite windy here in Sin City. No bugs, little rain, no sleet and long icy winters. It has snowed, but it melts quite quickly. I moved from St Louis as I was very tired of extreme humidity in the summers and the manic wet icy winters that seemed to hang on and on. Oh, and tornadoes. Three incidents of tornadoes in St Louis so far in '11. Floods too. I'm a desert guy since living in Yuma back in the 70's. G
  21. Well, I for one use both quite frequently. With the cost of all hobby paints right now, I don't believe one is more cost effective than the other. I seem to spend as much on Tamiya acrylics for my armor models as I spend on spray cans of any brand for cars. I try to shop around and spend wisely. If I see a larger type spray can of a color I use frequently, black, white, silver etc. I buy it up. The initial cash layout for the airbrush and related equipment can be intimidating for a newbie, yet they last almost forever with care. That said you can buy some really good quality stuff for less money if you shop around. G
  22. Man I tried, I really did plan to attend, but this freakin' knee lept me from it. Next time and I'm bringing all my copcars. G
  23. 96% I transposed the '58 Buick and '58 Pontiac wagons. G
  24. Very nice. Put this in "Under Glass", it deserves a better look by more folks. G
