  1. There was a van in the movie? I only remember Raquel................. G
  2. Nice, real nice. Love them monsters! G
  3. It's translated from Hebrew. If you know that language, the english verbage makes sense as it is literally translated. G
  4. Jake, plaster will work as well, but is much heavier down the road than spackle. I always seem to get more cracks in plaster too. I'm probably using way to much water. One thing I wll do sometimes is add a bit of Elmers glue into the mix. It binds everything just that much better. Dude, Ya got tips, so experiment! G
  5. 22 here at the house, 47 left in a display back at the St Louis Police Academy. G
  6. If you want to replicate a brick building, use cork. I use sheets of cork from a craft store and cut rectangles of the right size. I glue these on the foam core board one by one in a staggered brick like pattern. Simple Elmers works just fine for this. After drying for a night I take drywall spackle, thin it out a bit with water, and brush it over the wall. I concentrate on letting it pool up in the cracks between the bricks. When dry, it looks like mortar and covers the cork just enough to make it look even more like brick. G
  7. I was seven and building what would become the first of many many models. G
  8. How about "Do I feel Lucky?" G
  9. I never paid any attention to the ###### car, now Daisy, oh yeah. G
  10. I was surprised to see the Lindbergh Dodge with LAPD markings. I was not aware LASO jumped on the band wagon too, not surprising though. I've only spoken to Dave once or twice, so I have no opinion either way. G
  11. I love this build. It is of a favorite car of mine, and very very well done. That said: Long long ago, in a galaxy far far away, a Marine Lance Corporal was given a task by his company commander. It had been learned that this young Jarhead was a model builder. Having received "the word" he began building,.........tanks, lots of motorized Tamiya tanks. Said tanks were then driven across the company area for the fledgling Dragon anti tank gunners to practise sighting on. See? Motorization does have benefits! G
  12. Oh yeah, the LAPD too went bugnutts and Chimneyville et al had to stop printing the little "To Protect and Serve" logos as well as that ancient city emblem. Ho Hum, real dumb. Colorado has a sharp looking car, too bad, we'll all stick to the CHP! A guy I know runs the website copcar.com. He darn near got arrested after asking to take pics for his site. Seems a certain hoity toity PD in Kansas values their security. Like anyone knows they are there? G
  13. Janne it could have just been my kit, but wow what a bummer. Watch the left (driver's) side of the engine bay. Everything added onto the fender well is compressed front to back and it definately makes a difference. The hood hinges fit exactly in a space engineered between the shock tower and wiper bottle. That little bit of space made all the difference. Bozo decals are the bomb! G
  14. Yeah show us some pics. It'll help us help you. BTW a plastic "For Sale" sign is only about $2.99, and available at almost every type of store. Good source of cheap sheet styrene there. G
  15. I use a beer bottle. I fill it about 1/3 full of sand for weight, then block that off with paper towels pushed in the neck. No shortage of any of those at my place. G
  16. Good looking stuff here! The Dodge is on hold while I finish the Caprice and start another tank. I'm looking through the spares for a light bar for this. The second CHP Dodge will be a slick top so I will need some stuff for it too. Anybody got any spare spotlights from a Lindbergh '96 Crown Vic? I need some and wanted to make resin copies, but I cannot find any in my spares. The spot lights in the Dodge kit suck. Speaking of the Dodge Charger, something occurred that I am wondering is the norm. Upon putting the interior in, and placing the chassis on, I noticed some fit issues. They were easily resolved until I began adding the underhood details. The best I can figure is the body is out of wack by not quite 1/16 inch. It appears my kits body is short on the left side by that amount. NOTHING fit under the hood on the left (driver's) side. I had to ditch the hood hinges, they interferred with the shock tower on the left side. When I added the washer bottle the hood was again no longer level on the left side. I removed the washer bottle and shaved the bottom down. I snipped off the mounting pin and put it back. Now the hood fits level. Thing is all the underhood details on the left side are too close together. This keeps the hood from closing. You can tell the body's not quite square with the hood on. WTF? Your thoughts people? G
  17. Loctite is good CA but it seems to go bad faster than most. When I lived in St Louis it lasted a bit longer than here in hot dry Henderson. G
  18. G
  19. Um, the explanation will be forwarded by PM , but yes there are memories, many memories. G
  20. I'm thinking something akin to chariot wheels? '36 Ford artillery type wheels maybe? G
  21. Both actually, but I was referring to the rear. I put one on a rat rod that said "MOS 1369". One guy at a show got it, he said he was one too. G
  22. I like it, you really pushed the envelope and it shows. I wonder how many folks caught the meaning of the license plate? G
  23. Gramps post, boys and girls, is why this forum is the best. Holy smokes that's a great looking result! G
  24. Another key point is don't press too hard. Let the paper do the cutting. It's not necessary to overpower the paint, you are in effect beginning the polishing. I have always used a bit of dish soap and have never had an issue afterwards. G
  25. Oh Heck Yes! Bring it on! Boswell, looking good, what are you planning for lights and such? Janne, I'm waiting to see this one finished, you too Pali. G
