  1. Thank You Sir! That Caprice was my first ride as a district sergeant. That was a sweet, sweet car. I had a friend in fleet services who kept that car off the trade list for over a year so I could keep it. We actually hid the darn thing one weekend, so it wouldn't be noticed and turned in. On another note, I'm sitting here all buggered up having left the ER. Got plenty of time to build, so on with the show! Pics to follow, if I can find anything while on these good good meds........ G
  2. I just left the ER with a leg brace and a script for some good meds. Looks like all those years of craziness have caught up with me. My left knee let go and I have to see the orthopedist Monday. Up side is I get more time to build provided I'm not so stoned as to forget what I'm doing. Thank God for a loving, caring wife. G
  3. Me like. I have to try one of those someday. Don't know much about that universe, what's a good reference for background? G
  4. James, I googled many references and found several different variations of the valve colors. Some showed black like yours some showed aluminum with the coil packs being black. Same with the intake manifold. I am thinking to use the engine cover so most of the mill won't be seen anyway. You thoughts? G
  5. Janne, here's some inspiration for your Caprice. This is a '93 that I drove when I first made sergeant. I put a modified Impala SS body, onto the interior/chassis from a Revell Fire Chief/Taxi. This was the first police car I ever had with power windows and GASP! carpet. I do not prefer die cast yet this was the only way to replicate another of my rides. G
  6. You are committed my brother. (or will be anyway ) Build on! G
  7. Interesting, I opened the second kit and found it to be very clean. The first has flash on body parts, and some small engine details. Bad mold alignment maybe? True not insurmountable, just a pain. The older I get the crankier I am. G
  8. Janne, that's a perfect color. Here's where I'm at as of today. This is Duplicolor gray primer washed with Floquil Grimy Black. I dry brushed MM Neutral Gray for the highlights. I mocked up the interior so now on to the chassis. Here's an old stalled build that I plan to finish thanks to this CBP. This was a car I drove back in the day. G
  9. I have started mine and let me say this, either I'm getting old, or have built too way many tanks. This kit's instructions are a pain in the I thought for a new tool, it would be cleaner, i.e. no flash, and the parts would make sense with the directions. Comments? G
  10. Good stuff there. G
  11. That's just way too cool. G
  12. With the demise of the CV we are finally seeing NHP Chargers on our lot. I'll snap pics next time one sits still and we can all ohh and ahh! Zoli you are my inspiration man! Niteowl, Dude, go to your room for that one.............. G
  13. I'm all for more fire trucks! I have never built one, but love seeing the finished product. Hey Janne, I forgot to ask, what color blue did you finally use for the NYPD Caprice? It looks right from what I can see. G
  14. Response PM'ed !
  15. LMAO! That very first pic is a current co-worker. He staged that in front of his then home and that's his boy he's "writing". He retired to Vegas also. G
  16. Any one mind if I leap aboard? I just started a Lindbergh Dodge Charger. It'll be a CHP "recruitement" car with fancy markings from Bill Bozo. Janne, thgat's looking good. I cannot remember how many of those I drove over the years. It was my all time fave police car in 31 years. Nick did you see my comments on your CV in the other thread? G
  17. Amen to that. You never see a bike parked in front of a psychiatrist's office. G
  18. In armor modelling wood is quite common. What I do is paint an acrylic base coat of a yellow tan color. When dry I smear around a small amount of burnt umber oil paint with a short bristled brush. I let this dry, then flat coat the whole thing. This gives a good replica of unvarnished fairly new wood. If I'm looking for varnished wood, I'll do the above and lastly brush on some Tamiya clear orange. It's glossy so I may spritz on a bit of flat after that. Sometimes it helps to first increase the grain or add grain altogether. I usually use my saw blade and drag it haphazardly across the "wood" surface. If this is the case I'll thin the oil paint and wash it into the pattern. Real wood though, is the best................ G

  20. Man I so wanted to get there this time. We're so short handed at work they went and left me in charge over the weekend! Looks like I saved some $$ though! G
  21. I got in trouble when we transitioned from Harley's to Kawasaki's back in '83 or so. Seems that third gear wheelies in front of city hall were NOT appreciated by the masses. Now this bike would have gotten me fired, just sayin'..... G
  22. I'll take one of everything please. G
