Arizona follows Chicago down the tubes ...

22 in Sin City yesterday morning, and windy to boot. Coldest February here in 15 years. 29 today and calm, thank God. Gonna be 60+ tomorrow. Being a native midwesterner I can honestly say I moved here for the weather, and a job, and a woman, etcetcetc. Cold as all get out, but NO precip. G -
Good luck to our northern neighbors

Per my daughter, St Louis has ice, lots of ice, as of 30 minutes ago. She's at home with her puppy dog. #1 son is at home with the grandbaby waiting to be called in, #2 son is ready to hunker down on his ward, and dine in the cafeteria for a week or so. Good luck y'all, there's a reason dad moved to the desert. G -

I like to use Tamiya paints thinned with their laquer thinner for all the base colors. Being a monotone finish (no camo)I go from dark to light. After primer I spray everything below the fender line black or in this case, black green. Above the fenders I use this black green color to accent panel lines. Then I use the chosen color Tamiya XF 74, right from the jar, just sort of misting it on the lower areas. I "fill in" all the panels with the base color painting just up to the previously applied dark green. XF 74 is a dark olive green that closely matches Marine Green from this era. I use Buff to subtly lighten the XF 74 and "fog" this into the center of panels and areas that would receive a lot of light. A bit more buff got sprayed onto the turret top, hatches, and wheel centers. I usually coat the entire model with Future, then use extremely thinned oils to wash the seams. This one didn't get the Future, I let the paint cure for a week then used the oils. Due to the dark tones I mixed a bit of raw umber with black, then thinned it way out. I use a fine brush to place the oils into all the seams, panel lines, and nooks and crannies. If you look close you can see how the oils "bloomed" around the tool box handles a bit. This will disappear with a flat coat. On a lighter colored tank, I'll paint it the same way with different shades accenting the panels and surfaces, but use the oils as an overall wash to tone it and blend the shading. Camo has unique challenges as well. I'll paint the lightest color first, shading as before. Then I'll add the camo pattern, lightening those with various shades also. Pershings had a cast turret and gun mantlet. I will use something like Mr. Surfacer to enhance the texture. This one came out looking real good so I drybrushed some Vallejo Khaki over the upper areas. It enhanced the cast texture, and added some highlights to the tank. Sounds a lot more complicated than it is. What I am really doing is "color modulation" forcing light and shadow. G -

Any football fans out there?
Agent G replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes they did, how soon we forget! Warner is a heck of a guy, and his Mrs. is a class act too. I met them at the Variety Club Telethon just after the SuperBowl win. We coppers donated our time to the telethon, and that particular day I had my daughter with me. I'm siting taking a break, when she runs up and asks if she can go onstage with the nice man and lady. I look up, way up, and see Kurt and Brenda. Tall people there Well I'm dumbfounded, so Brenda introduces herself and promptly takes the girl by the hand and leaves with her. Kurt said something to the effect "gotta go, wife says so". Good people there. G -

Being married to a Chicagoan there was no doubt who I wanted to win. Gonna have to root for the cheeseheads now though. Out here in Sin City you can tell where folks come from by their team loyalities. Having no pro teams of our own we defer to our "home teams". I haven't been able to get behind the Rams for years though......................... I met Kurt Warner, back in the day, on the road to the SuperBowl. Remember, the football Cardinals were a St Louis icon untill Bidwell tried to extort a stadium from the city. I have always been a fan of Warner's, but the stars aligned in such a way as to keep me away from Phoenix also. G -

After several failed attempts, I enlisted the assistance of MrsG to obtain a clear photo. Here's Shorty! He does not stand still, ever. I able to get the shot, 'cause MrsG was holding a doggy treat. G -

I have a crazy Beagle named Shorty. If the lil' f'er could stand still I'd get a pic. He's 8 years old and a rescue from hurricane Rita. I got him in St Louis and he's been with me travelling all over the U.S. until we settled in Vegas. Dog has outlasted one wife already G
