  1. Oh yeah that's what I'm talking about! I was recently informed that this can be built as a M60A3 from the left over parts in the kit. Seems Tamiya updated and kept the goodies but never noted that on the instructions. Hmmmmmm G
  2. I've managed to toss a few myself. With todays prices I now put it down, breathe, have a smoke, and then smash it to bits. G
  3. I've seen these Fords as far north as Henderson on the 95. AZ DPS and NHP run joint operations on the border, which sometimes leads them all the way up by me. Yes, I do believe the funeral is today. It has been a bad year for Law Enforcement already. G

  5. Here's the tank as of today. Tamiya's M60A1 RISE with ERA, as used by the Marine Corps in ODS. I ordered some aftermarket tracks which should be in soon, hence the lack of wheels. For info purposes the add on panels are Explosive Reactive Armor. They are designed to explode when hit by a hollow charge warhead like an RPG. The panel defeats the armor piercing jet by deflecting it away from the hull. And we all made fun of the Russians for storing diesel fuel on their tanks. G

  12. I received two of the generic kits today. A quick exam revealed the contents to be pretty good overall. There are eight fairly good looking light bars, and at least three types of wheels. If anyone wants a peek let me know, but I won't be able to post pics until tomorrow evening. G
  13. Between WWI and WWII all the nations developed some form of strategy concerning armored forces. The Russkies took a long look at their huge country and realized no vehicle could effectively be refueled in a timely manner. It was decreed therefore all armored vehicles, tanks, were to carry some form of external storage. To this day you will find the mounts for those fuel drums mounted on even the most modern variants of Russian armor. G

  15. Nope the barrels, as well as the tank looking contraptions on the right fender, are spare fuel tanks. These were/are diesels so it was decided since the diesel fuel wasn't quite as volatile as gasoline, extra could be carried externally. The cylinder under the barrels is where the the cleaning rods for the main gun are stored, I think. On occasion these held the radio antennas, depending on the version. Yeah, right. Who in the wide wide world of sports wants to ride in this beast, carting flammable liquids around for everyone to shoot at? Russians! Jeez My time as a grunt working beside tanks proved I was right about one thing. I CAN run faster scared than they can shoot. Besides I can get real low real fast. BTW The exhausts are the rectangular openings in the fenders towards the rear above the fourth and fifth roadwheels. The log is a log. Should this beastie get highsided while rumbling over a mound, hillock, or enemy position the log was used to "unditch" the tank. What they did was latch the log between the tracks behind the tank. Then the driver put this puppy in reverse and slowly backed up. The log went under the tank, contacted whatever the tank was hung up on, and in theory, helped push the tank back off whatever object it was stuck on. Since this T 55 weighed about 45/50 tons loaded, it was problematic at best. This was a hold over from earlier times when tanks didn't weigh as much. This was NOT something done by the US anytime after WWI. So endeth todays history lesson. G
  16. Mine have been received by UPS and will be here shortly. I ordered from policecarmodels.com right at 5 years ago. Thank goodness they are in Nevada, so I'll have pics soon. G
  17. Jeff emailed me today wanting verification of my 3 year old pre order. Of course I said HECK YES. He wrote they will be in his posession by the 14th. Hell, I'll drive to Carson City Nevada to get em. G
  18. Where I live Valspar primer takes forever to dry. Humidity is normally about 13% with summer temps at 110. Sheesh.............. I get great finishes though because of this. 1 hour in that good Nevada sunshine in July bakes the snot out of any type paint. Even enamels cure fast here. G

  20. Ditto everything already said. In addition CLEAN everything. Find out what paint type your friend used then take her apart and give all the parts a good soaking, especially the tip. Check the needle and make sure it's not bent. Laquer thinner is a good start for stripping enamels, laquers and acrylics from the brush. This will effect the seals over time so be careful to keep them out of it. You can use Windex, windshield washer fluid, or alcohol for acrylic build up, but you must rinse with water as these will pit brass parts. Get some airbrush lube and follow instructions as you put it back together. That little valve the trigger rests on can and will stick. G
