  1. I saw snow in the mountains yesterday....................... G
  2. Back n St Louis I had access to them year round. Here in Vegas, well let's just say you have to look real hard. G
  3. In short, yes. Most of my experience is with police package cars, but I have driven these extensively over the course of my career. The '91-'97 versions were nimble and light around town but not very stable at speed on the open road. Lots of high rpm horsepower no real low end grunt. They were the right size and handled good for an urban cop car. They just got started accelerating about the time you were back on the brakes for the next intersection though. Frustrating. '98 saw the Watts link rear end make it's debut on the CV. Remapped engine management saw more low end torque. My first negative experience was responding to a hot call in moderately heavy traffic. I performed a right - left - right manuver at about 30mph and realized the rear end was trying to pass the front. The car remained perfectly flat and gave no warning. The rear end just let go on bone dry pavement. Not too bad in the acceleration department. Fast forward to the R & P steering in '03. Ford seemed to have finally exorcised all the demons. We didn't drive Fords after this model year so I have no experience with the car after that. The car was never, arguably, "fast". Remember the Ford Police Package was introduced at the same time Chevrolet's legendary 9C1was being sold. Any early Caprice with the 5.8 was quicker. A '94-'96 Chevy with the LT1 was not even in the same league. I hid my '93 9C1 from Fleet Services for a year so I didn't have to give her up. I still have my '05 Town Car though, it's a beauty and handles well for a land yacht. The speed sensitive steering takes a bit of "getting used to" but after 10+ years I am ok with it. G
  4. If they were available 24/7/365 I'd be heavier than I am now. In fact, I be starring in "My 600 pound Life". G
  5. Trust me on this, use the carbide drill bits as finger drills. They work wonders but are very, very fragile. G
  6. In the context of this thread, I will submit the "black triangle" flap of January 5, 2000 over southern Illinois. Many of the officers working on our side of the Mississippi saw the same thing. Later that morning all the nightwatch officers who were on duty at the time were treated to a litany of threats by various command rank should they decide to divulge publicly what they saw. I was not working that night, but had seen the infamous black triangle previously over south eastern Missouri while at a scout camp with my son. I have seen it again since moving here to southern Nevada. I saw the same triangular shaped flying object over Lake Mead one evening while en route to a call. One night shortly thereafter I was on our office parking lot with two co-workers when what appeared to be the same darn thing flew over. It was very very quiet and moved very fluidly through the air. Interestingly enough it was quite low and heading east. across the valley. It then made a flat turn and headed north in the direction of Nellis AFB. Weeks later the Air Force went public with a photo of a drone known as the "Beast of Kandahar". It was named for the area in which it conducted operations against insurgents. They flew from Creech AFB here just north of Las Vegas to hunt terrorists in Afghanistan. The beast looked remarkably like the infamous black triangle I saw. Having lived here for almost 10 years, I can state that if we knew a fraction of what was being tested out in the barren desert we could explain about 90% of all UFO's. G
  7. Now that's a collection of awesome. G
  8. Same same with Capt Miller himself. The long departed Captain Gary Perkins, may he rest in peace, was, actually no, he had to be, the inspiration for Captain Barney Miller I rode and worked closely, with a guy who dressed just like Wojohowitz. Inspector Luger embodied traits from several old school detective supervisors I knew. Darnnit I miss that show. G
  9. JD, My 22 year old daughter inherited her mother's '05 Crown Vic. It's been over a year now and she is finally coming to terms with driving the beast. She had no issues with the size of the car, she's driven my Town Car plenty of times, but that image of copcar or grandpa car really weighed heavily on her. Give the car some time. They grow on you. Also, it's a bulletproof ride if maintained correctly. G
  10. You darn tootin'. Wade right in there and give it a go. You might surprise yourself. I have........................... G
  11. A persons legal age is quite important here in Nevada. Per state law you must be 21 to gamble. Large fines are assessed against casino's for violations. Even at that, with all the safeguards, dealers, floormen and pit bosses look at licenses and allow minors to gamble. As stated by Dave math is actually not required as most states have different colors, or the license is oriented differently (vertical) for persons under 21. Math, it's too hard. G
  12. OMG YES! Barney Miller was the best depiction of a detective squad ever portrayed on television. I personally am aquainted with each and every character, as I have worked with them at one time or another. G
  13. Most assuredly. G
  14. I haven't been keeping up on the St Louis issue as much as I could have, but what I heard infuriated me. Hizzoner and the "Bored of Alderclowns" concocted three schemes whereby a stadium would be funded. All three essentially gutted the city's budget to a point that all city workers would qualify for food stamps. None of their salaries would suffer, just the "common folk". I am aware of the revenue generated by a viable NFL franchise in a city as sports minded as St Louis, but dammmmm why should services suffer? True to big city politics, an alderclown went to the media with allegations of kickbacks and favors throughout the process. I have no proof but, I suppose she wasn't "hooked up" as well as she felt entitled to be. After a week of media fooferall plan 4 was presented. It was an amalgam of the three previous plans and actually doable in that the services (police, fire, ems) wouldn't suffer. Some civic minded corporate entities added to the pot. Again no proof however; can you say Goodfellas? Sure you can. At this point any contribution was appreciated, business, industry, outfit, alien, whatever. Several sites were offered as a potential building place. Stan Kroenke said "buh bye" and left with his team. Truly the "Silence of the Lambs". Good riddence. G
  15. What goes around comes around, eh Carl? G
  16. Oy, looks like something written by a Jewish CPA doing taxes...................... Deranged. Ha! I resemble that remark. You know me too well. G
  17. I use that same airbrush and have had excellent results. I recently used Vallejo Model Color on a tank build (see my desert Sherman in "All the Rest"). I thinned the Vallejo with Testors acrylic thinner. I found it doesn't like to be thinned as much as say Tamiya or MM Acryl. I used the .32 needle and tip in my Paasche, but next time I spray Vallejo, I will use the .5 needle and tip. I added a drop of Vallejo "Retarder" as well. I live in the dry dry desert and need all the working time with acrylics I can get. It worked like a charm. G
  18. G
  19. Trying to leave? The freaking Lambs split town before the season was over. G
  20. Average in Clark county is $2.25. Saw gas for $1.89 in Nye county yesterday. G
