  1. Harry it was horrible! Nevada D.O.T. has, at best, one plow assembly and one salt spreader assembly for use in the entire southern half of the state. These are specifically for use on Mount Charleston, above the 5,000 foot level. It will snow loads there at times. They, NDOT, plan for the weather that exists 90% of the year, extreme heat. That's why 8" of heavy wet snow in 2008, a record BTW, paralyzed the valley. Asphalt melts here by 7:00am during the summer. G
  2. It's been touch and go here all day. I was forced to take MrsG to PF Chang's for dinner as Papa John's wouldn't deliver. Low light levels and all, liability you know. G
  3. Ummmmm, Almost ashamed to post that I saw a cloud this morning................................. G
  4. 4 years smoke free here! Stopped the drinking completely 12 years ago. I will now have a beer maybe once a month. Lost 60 pounds in the last two years as well. It's doable Jim, just keep at it my brother. G
  5. Thanks Gents! Bill, all you see is painted plastic or PE. The tow cable I made with copper telephone wire stripped of its vinyl and twisted in a cordless drill. Bruce, I used a small piece of sponge held in forceps. I dip it in water blot it off the repeat that with acrylic paint. Then I go around and dab the paint laden sponge in areas I want chips. It comes out very random looking with practise. G
  6. Wow. Beautiful! G
  7. Very nice! G
  8. You get lost again Jim? I know I have to search for myself at least twice a month. G
  9. They're build threads on other sites of both the Hanebu and the Ratte. The guy building the Ratte is scratchbuilding the thing in 1/35th scale! It's huge! G
  10. A bit more in the weathering department. I use these oils to tint, shade and fade the finish. I try to replicate wear and tear caused by the enviornment and crew activity. Weapons of choice. This is good stuff. It's so mild it won't lift cured enamel much less acrylic. G
  11. Oh my sweet baby Jesus I saw a cloud today. I must run and get milk and bread before the temperature drops into the 50's........... G
  12. Very nice! G
  13. Ok, I had to wait a bit, take a breath and collect my thoughts before responding here. You can say it's political, you can say it's not. You can shout to the rooftops about "agendas" and implied guilt. You can even vow to NOT SEE this movie. One thing that cannot, must not, be denied is this. Good men died. They died so that you, all of you, can safely express your beliefs. G
  14. Oh heck yeah! G
  15. Back in the days when air was clean and sex was dirty. Not a bad thing to wish for. G
  16. All these puns have my brain scrambled, if not outright fried. G
  17. Good score you little Fokker..................................... G
  18. Marvin the Martian's ride! I dig it! G
  19. The Sherman was taller and narrower but the overall size, was similar. Weight, as I recall, was nearly the same. G
  20. Markings are on and the weathering has begun. I'm trying to replicate the wear patterns of the crew in and around the tank. Oil paint fading to come. G
  21. 1967 saw my father spending the night in the printshop he co-owned. Dad said he walked to a local White Castle, got a sack of belly bombers. He went back to the office where he brewed a pot of coffee and took the bottle of Jim Beam from it's secure location. After transporting the TV from the break room he called mom and settled in for a good nights sleep. We saw him two days later......... 1982 saw me living on the south side and working a north side district. I was off during the storm itself, but worked the day after. I left for the 3pm shift at about 1pm or so and got to work on time. That was normally a 30 minute commute. I was the frst "new" face to show up in almost 24 hours. I was given keys to a car, a radio and told to sit and wait for a call worthy of a response. Seems that during the storm some coffee pot commando downtown decided to keep "business as usual" thereby losing several cars to accient and mechanical breakdown. This in turn stranded coppers all over the city. The lucky ones were stuck in 7-11's or hospital ER's. Not me, I got stuck playing spades with two drunken desk men. G
  22. I concur, however I blame it on my Jewish mother. G
