Dodge Van Camper - Done!
David G. replied to Tom Geiger's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I remember seeing photos from back when you were first working on this one. As I followed your build progress, I was, and still am very impressed with your scratch building skills. It was so close to completion that I'd always assumed that you had finished it. In any case, I'm glad to know that you finished this one. It was well worth the wait. David G. -

Using Pledge Floor Care Acrylic and black paint, I also mixed a translucent gray tint for the head carapace. I think it looks much better tinted than clear. More like it should. I also finally got the seams on the body taken care of and sprayed it with the basic gloss black. The next step is detail painting the body and organ pipes, or pipe "organs" and installing them. Thank you for taking the time to look, I always appreciate comments, hints and suggestions. In the ten years that I've been a member of this community, the feedback I've received from all of you has been a tremendous help in developing my model building skills. David G.

Basic assembly and painting. There was flash to remove, gaps to fill and a little re-sculpting but here they are in shiny basic black. I have the body halves glued together and I'm working on smoothing out the seams. I also found a suitable dark green for the main body color, Tamiya Black-Green XF-27. I painted the arms with the green. It's very subtle but it's there. I also got some more detail painting done on the head. I hope to put a light gray tint on the "helmet" to add some depth and mystery. Yeaaaahhh, the teeth are a work in progress. I'll get them looking much better by the time this I'm done with this. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to comment. David G.

Thanks Carl. Thanks Curtis, I'm rather pleased with the way they came out too. Thank you Snake! I'm always happy to know that I've had some positive effect on someone else. If you do get around to building one, I'd love to see it. David G.

Nicely done! I always thought that those 4 cyl engines sounded a little obnoxious with twin glass packs though. David G. -
Makes a great looking convertible, it looks natural. Great work! David G.
