  1. I kind of like challenging builds like that. You did a great job on the Fiat, it looks very clean.
  2. I have seen a few other remote control kits similar to that, not that one - I don't think they were made by Yamada, though Here is a kit I got in a large lot a few years ago (most were planes/jets):
  3. Thanks Jacen. Yes, two piece only makes sense, and I thought they were. Very nice casting!

    Ice ManX

That's quite nice. I like the custom work and the black and white color scheme. Very cool.
  5. Nice! Very beautiful paint.
  6. NIce, clean build Brett. I thought there was another scary skull on the top, then I realized it was your reflection I like the color. Nice and smooth, too.
  7. I don't have a collection - no space, time, or skills. I would, however, like to SEE some collections (hint: SEE is capitalized for a reason)
  8. They look nice to me, too. The big issues I look for in wheel castings are air bubbles on the lug nuts (usually obliterating the nut) and around the rim - those are the hardest places for me to cast and/or repair. Are these done in a two piece mold or are the holes solid?
  9. Okay, I have been looking at that kit for a while...and, I love the style you built it in, so, now I don't need to build one:) That is really cool. I like this build a lot.
  10. This one: The only problem is the steel wheels don't fit the stock tires. The other versions, as noted, omitted some parts - not only engine but wheels as well.
  11. Looking at the picture, I would try sanding it out - just go slow and steady and avoid sanding through on the wheel well edges or you will have to do paint and clear repair. Do you have a micro mesh (or similar) polishing kit? Look into one if you don't. They include sanding pads that you go through sanding down to a close to polished surface. Yo then can ploish it out with Meguiar's or similar polish... Also, make sure the topcoat in completely dry before sanding - you didn't mention what type of clear you used, and some (enamels) take a long time to dry to a hard surface.
  12. Glad you joined. I think most, or a lot of us, fall into the same category of too many builds, too little time! There are getting to be quite of few builders from Australia on here - the more the merrier, I guess. Welcome!
  13. A mix of used and discarded parts pieced together to make a fun to drive hot rod on a very limited budget. It is NOT a car that has been purposely built (staged) to look old. I can see the art and design in building a car to look old and rusty, but to call a multi-thousand dollar build (that includes modern components) a "rat" is completely missing the point.
  14. Really nice looking build. Great color choice and very smooth application.
  15. You had me at wagon. Great looking build. Nice, clean construction.
  16. Good old days. These are the ubiquitous Revell tires, but in the days of old they actually had sidewall detail - and decent, looks-in-scale sidewall detail. I like them. Good Year Blue Streak Sports Car Specials: Mine were in this kit, although many others had them. Now, they are in a lot of kits but the sidewalls are blank.
  17. Great pair of M&H Racemaster slicks (10.50x15): Find them here:
  18. Wow. Another very awesome, clean build.
  19. Super, nice build! I love models that are built so clean!
  20. These tires are okay - decent whitewalls (quality varies by kit) - good for late 50s early 60s stuff. But, the big bonus in this kit: It's difficult to photograph decal sheets, but that's a decal for Good Year Polyglas F70-14s. COPO Camaro anyone? The tires and decals can be found here:
  21. More tires AMT parts pack Firestone Deluxe Champion tires Back side of tires have print too!! Very nice. These are readily available and look like this: These ones are more expensive than the AMT Racemaster slicks, but still, you get two sets for the price of a discounted kit and they take up less shelf space!
  22. Rob - hadn't seen this build (got lost in the myriad of '49 Mercs, I guess). I really like the interior! The gold piping and red cloth are great ideas and look great. The removable top too - excellent idea. I like the idea of a theme build that is also road worthy - something some off-the-wall person really would make and drive around town. How did you do the graphics - in particular, the skull and cross bones? Stencil or masked off?
  23. I like the idea of this thread as well. I started a thread for tires HERE but didn't know where the best posting location would be. I can see it will get buried pretty quick in the general section - not to mention I am the only one that has posted related tire content. Please, read the entire thread before posting to see the desire behind that thread - as well as, I assume, this one. One thing I would really like to see - MORE PICTURES. Some of these kits have had multiple issues - not all of them containing the same parts. Also, pictures of the parts! It is not that hard to find a picture (or take one) and post - and it alleviates a lot of the searching-through-threads ailment. I am all for a separate section for this type of information - but we can make it so much more useful and concise if we limit banter and bump up the amount of photos used. So...now that I posted without pictures in a post ranting about no pictures... Pics coming soon...
  24. Pictures? Depending on how bad the print is, you can sand it out and hope it didn't effect the paint under the clear. Then apply more clear and don't touch it with your thumb;). You can also mask off and respray just print area - I prefer to do the whole body panel if possible (fender or trunk lid, etc) as opposed to a small repair - it's just a little easier to blend in. Learning to fix mistakes like this is a huge step in model building. It's not always building the perfect model, it's about fixing the mistakes that WILL happen.
