Painting clear taillights
Erik Smith replied to Jon Cole's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
First Gen Miatas (NA) have a three color tail light - so just red won't work - which you are probably aware of (not all respondents are?). I use Tamiya clear colors - red and orange - and I would use just a foil backing for the backup light (clear) portion. -
Does look cool. Beware: animals and campervans...

TOMYTEC Nissan Cedric Gloria Wagon V20 Deluxe 1/35

Will there be an actual route established? Would be cool to see how much we plan for dirt, hardtop, and actual four wheeling! All considerations for me on how aggressive each element of the car will be built. Rob is right - Google some vintage baja stuff! Way cool!

Should be interesting! Extreme reliability, extra storage capacity, off road capable, and fast...very fast. Oh, and a way to ward off aggressive bull camels.

I would think so...but did an eBay search trying to find one and most are blue... -
Has this kit ever been released in white or light gray plastic?

Base model out in December - according to Hobby Search... I should look closer to see if the base (round headlight) version is in the box I have... and currently $23 and change with the exchange... -

About $25 USD -
Will there be a poll or...like, we all just say what we want? I think AussieBall would be cool.

I don't think any Cedric/Gloria cars were imported to the US - could be wrong. I got mine from HobbySearch. I would like to get the round headlight version too! -
Hitler's Ride - Ancient G4 out of box review

I went back through my photobucket - I think the TILT kits were planes. This is the one I "thought" was a tilt, but it was a grip. One of the Marui kits was a Mazda Savannah that I believe is still reissued by Fujimi... EDIT: here is one of the TILT kits - motorized Nissan Skyline. It was a horrid kit. -
TOMYTEC Nissan Cedric Gloria Wagon V20 Deluxe 1/35

Yeah, odd subject, odd scale (except for military stuff), not sure where the market is for this thing - except people who really like wagons and aren't afraid of other scales. What I can't understand, and am a little jealous of...how come the military scales can produce such amazing detail at such a small scale? I mean, look at the windhshield wipers on this Tomytec kit...they are more in scale than any 1/25 scale model I have! This isn't even the finest molded detail I have seen in a small scale kit. -

Cool review - cool model. Great write up, Adam. I had a couple "Tilt" models and never questioned that's what it said - I think I even sold them on eBay as "Tilt" models...great learning experience for me, I guess. The art on that box is great. Obviously not in the sense that I think it's cool Hitler is alive and driving around, but the way it's portrayed with the Nazi "team" behind him all relaxed and looking extremely evil. Too bad we didn't have drones back then... -

Continuing... Great decal sheet, wood paneling!!! Very fine and crystal clear "glass" (there are some weird lights - probably a police version of some sort coming along): Oy! A crappy photo of the chrome - note - three different grills. Dog dish caps. Chrome bumpers (body colored included on white sprue. Two different mirror styles. Drivetrain parts, hood: Black, chassis parts (two different pedal sets - auto and manual transmission): Bench seats, bucket seats, two different center consoles: More options (different steering wheels and columns): And a peek at the instruction sheet (all Japanese): Overall a really cool model. I don't know why anybody wouldn't want a 1990s Nissan station wagon model. I actually don't know why a company would make a model of one...but they did, so I rewarded there weirdness and bought two. Thr kit is beautifully molded and includes so many options! -
Oh, what could be cooler than a mid 90s economy station wagon model! Here is a look at Tomytec's (never heard of them either) 1/35 scale 1993-95 or so Nissan Wagon. There are a ton of different versions to be built from this one box, and I have no idea which are which, but... Here is the box art (very Bandai 1/20 scale kit looking...) Yes, 1/35 scale but...FULL DETAIL! Here is the body - beautifully molded very little clean up needed. Crisp, fine detail - and on a tiny model (how can some companies do this?): Three sets of wheels! Open steel wheels (with dog dish caps on the chrome tree) and two full wheel cover sets: Great looking little tires (yeah, they don't look that awesome, but remember, this is 1/35 scale! They are small): more sprues coming...

Wow, Peter. Beautiful.

So cool. Lots of original stuff going on. I followed part of the "on the bench" thread and know you use a Cameo (or similar) to cut material - have you ever tried cutting wood veneer with it? Like the thin material you have on the interior? I have a Silhouette Cameo but never thought about wood veneer until I looked at this post...

Great group this year! Tough choice as always. I like to evaluate on the Cannonball premise then look at build quality, modifications, etc. and there were a few models I had to look at over and over to decide. Awesome work on all the entries!

November 1971 - pretty sure I would have come home in this: 1968 Mercury Cougar. Sold in 1974 and a yellow Volkswagen Dasher replaced it...ugh -

Looks like a cool book - I ordered one along with "An Illustrated Book of Bad Arguments". -
Rattlesnakes are actually good creatures. They eat rodents. Yeah, total bummer if they happen to feel threatened and bite something they don't plan on eating (like your leg), but they are an important part of any ecosystem. I run into them regularly in my job (yes, we have rattlesnakes in Washington state), and they are usually more interested in getting away then using precious venom and energy biting a human. That looks like a big snake - if I see the pic correct - long rattle. Good thing he let you know he was there!

$25 to $35 on eBay Sometimes listed for higher, but in general, not an expensive model. I sold a couple and they went right in that range.
