  1. Test on a spoon first. Pretty sure the Krylon short cuts are enamel and the Tamiya is a lacquer - they usually don't olay together well. I tried some Krylon with different clears and some lacquer would cause wrinkling sometimes, some wouldn't at all, and some just exploded and turned into fire breathing, mutated shar peis.
  2. Haha. The golden looks so enthused! I have a boxer that would like to "play" with my stuff...
  3. Cool. Your ukulele will be out of tune, though.
  4. Or the latest release which includes all the parts. It has the retro box art.
  5. Excellent work. That is a beautiful model. Clean construction and tasteful mods.
  6. SMP/AMT had Imperial annuals as well, from 1959? and up for few years... AMT also had Valiants from 1960?...
  7. Yeah, no. I'm a big long roof fan, but that has some consistency issues. The line of the front glass and rear glass being so staggered makes the rear addition look like a tumor. It looks like it's a quality job, but visually it's not so nice.
  8. Some talk here: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=51456&page=11 AMT 67 Mustang, I believe, would be the best starting point IIRC. I thought about when I built the kit but decided on the easy way and slid the metal axle through the engine block...
  9. I wonder if you baked it at 300 for 15 minutes it would come out a perfect 1/32 scale model.
  10. Man, if anybody reads about that car and still says "not even if I had the money", they are nuts. I would buy one if I had the money. The technology in the GT will benefit a lot more of Fords line too - they have already made an aluminum bodied truck saving 700 pounds - 700 pounds!!! If some if the weight saving tech gets pushed from the GT and with Ecoboost tech expanding, they are in a win win situation - more power, lighter weight vehicles. Kudos Ford.
  11. Really cool model. Great work on the tire chains - just need some rubber tensioners to keep em off the body Excellent work on the plow too, well, on the whole deal.
  12. That is a very fine looking model. Great work.
  13. Maybe Chevy and Dodge should take some business lessons... And I thought the muscle car died in 1970. Really, if you can get the performance AND efficiency, why would you stick with solid axle technology? We're there people bemoaning the end of the flathead?
  14. All cars look similar for a given time period...ask an 18 year old to distinguish between a 1956 Ford and Chevy and he will probably say "IDK, they look the same". It does have some Audi lines - but also a lot of other elements that you can pick out - Corvette? Look at the scoops and vents. Overall, it's a cool looking car, so is the Audi. Some neat engineering on the Honda too - the V6 and 9 speed transmission.
  15. Actually, I think the Minica GSS is the most rare - to my brain anyhow, I've never seen it...all are cool!
  16. Narrow the grill is easy. On the actual car, there are two panel lines on each side. Cut the grill at each spot and, depending on the kerf of your saw, glue back together or sand until desired width. Here is my attempt: You can see where I cut just beyond each orange light on the grill. You will also need to sand the edges of the grill insert to fit, but IIRC, that was pretty easy. Here is the real deal - you can see the panel lines:
  17. I've always had a fascination with miniatures. Ships, cars, dioramas - I just like looking at them. Cars just happen to my choice for modeling. I relish the creative aspects of envisioning something and then producing it - I'd do it on a larger scale of I had the time, skill, space, and money - but I have none, so it's models for me.
  18. That is a great deal - just ordered one from them. Not sure how they are making much money on it...
  19. I think all the different nationalities brings new ideas and views. Greatly appreciated by me. My local model club is fine, but a very small demographic.
  20. Even with bigger tires, "dork" would still be the correct term.
  21. I don't think you should include a price limit...basically rules all Tamiya kits out. I actually have to look back and see what kits were actually released in 2014...
  22. Pretty nice build for being over 40 years old. $5.00 back in '69 was an expensive kit!
  23. Yeah, that grill fits well. In the other build up, the corners of the grill didn't match the shape of the body - atleast they appeared not to. The TAILLIGHTS look good.
