  1. You're looking at the wrong game. The Patriots played the Colts in the AFC championship game. The other balls, including one of the Pats balls, did not have subsequent 2+ psi drops. If science is involved, wouldn't ALL the balls be subject to the same calculations?
  2. The temperature at game time was 51 degrees. You are assuming the temperature in the locker room. Using the ideal gas law, PV=nRT, the temperature would have had to drop 60 drgrees to loose 2 psi. It actually dropped about 4 the whole game and the balls were "caught" at halftime.
  3. I wouldn't think a car assembled in Canada by a company owned by Italians would be an "American" car, but apparently to some, it is. As far as the most American car? 7 of the top 10 are "Japanese"...Toyota and Honda. Most American, according to some sources, is the Ford F-150. Do they (the Japanese makes) add the most to the American economy? I have no idea, but they provide a lot of jobs but the parent company is still Japanese owned. I wonder if the Japanese complain about all the Americans taking thier jobs...I would think the Ford F-150, being American owned, would be the automobile that contributes the most, but I am sure there are other factors my simple mind doesn't know it deosn't know.
  4. Dear Dave, Welcome to the forum. I hope you can enlighten us with your boat building skills. It is always interesting to incorporate other building techniques into the car and truck world and it makes us all better, people and modelers. Erik
  5. Or try automotive paints labeled "Pearl". Don't know if they will have the same color available, but auto metallics have pretty decent sized flakes. I've only tried solid colors from MCW...may try the metallics.
  6. We can just start using "North American Muscle". And isn't dodge owned by Fiat? Oy.
  7. C'mon. Do we really need this. I know my stack of unbuilt BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH doesn't... Cool.
  8. Tesla is made in California. So, it's American "muscle" too
  9. Good is relative. For $600, you can get a consumer/hobby level camera kit. It will have fewer options but be easier, in general, to use. It will focus slower and have slower shooting speeds. For the most part, all new DSLRs have such high MP ratings that's not a limiting factor. The lens is what really matters. You can get a good Canon lens - 100mm macro f2.8 for about $500 - or less used (I bought a used one, like new, for $350). It's extremely sharp and will focus closer than you wish. You can buy body only and add a better lens, but will probably be in the $800 range... Again, good is relative, and a $600 Kit is still a good package, but the bottom of the "good" options.
  10. The balls did not lose air pressure due to weather. The temperature only dropped about 4 degrees from the start of the game to the end. The balls were "caught" at halftime, meaning even less of a drop. Using an equation for volume change based on temperature, the change is negligible - probably less than .1 psi. Plus, all balls would have lost the same amount of air - they were measured at the start at 12.5 - so 12 of 12 would have tested the same. One of the balls was still legal when measured.
  11. I use rub n buff. It's a paste that you can "metallize" regular plastic. I just use VERY light amount on a soft rag and run across highlights. Also, as mentioned above, highlight some parts with lighter colors then apply darker wash over them. The trick is to get a good variety of finishes ad colors - subtle differences - to avoid the all-one-color flat black look. Simple one:
  12. Put an xacto blade all the way through my left hand middle finger when I was about 12 or 13. Trying to pry a carb off a manifold with my finger between it and the desk. One slip later the blade hit the desk via my finger. Still have the scar tissue floating around in my finger.
  13. I won't get into logical argumentation here. But as I said before, the Colt's balls have nothing to do with the Pat's balls. Essentially what you are proposing is that the Pats are guilty but if the Colts also cheated, than the Pats are in some way not guilty. Get it?
  14. The Colts ball pressure did not effect the Pats ball pressure. This is a red herring argument. It is a known FACT that the Pats balls were under inflated.
  15. Billionaires are literally buying oil tankers or space on them to store millions of barrels - yeah, oil will be back...probably be paying $4 a gallon next year.
  16. They are very attractive cars and performance is impressive. Where's the model?
  17. Saw an ad for a RAV4 today - guy is selling because now he can get a truck with the low gas prices. That's thinking ahead.
  18. Does the AMT Kit have the separate tubular frame? The Tamiya one looks like an impressive model!
  19. Great. I just painted a 65 Chevy wagon with the molded in door handles.
  20. Tom - here is a pic of the Fred Cady Scallops. I can't photograph the white, but the black is the same patterns (minus the missing ones). Let me know if any look like they might work and I can get a better pic or drop them in the mail.
  21. Cool. I actually like the sound of any well tuned engine. Watching vintage racing is fun when you get a mustang, Lotus, and a V12 Jaguar in line...
  22. Watching some videos of the Tesla at take off...smokes Lambos and Ferraris out of the gate - and that's the funnest part! Eventually a $120K electric will put $200k supercars to rest...
  23. What's wrong with Washington? Wrong time of year, but... If your going to be in the Seattle area and have time, Skyway Hobbies is a pretty cool little shop. We are actually having one of the warmest, driest January in a very long time.
  24. Tom - I have a Fred Cady white scallop sheet I believe - do you have an idea of size and shape? I can dig it out and check.
  25. Head painted and detailed.
