Do you also have 1:1 project cars?
redscampi replied to ctruss53's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I am sure you are correct. I don't see signs of body work, but that doesn't mean anything really. I am aware of that trim being correct, but honestly, my eventual goal is to remove the existing trim in favor of a pinstripe of some kind. Although, in the meantime if you could let me know who might have the trim, I'd be grateful. My searches have been unsuccessful. I also really like the low profile hub caps! The originals protrude way too far for my taste. I was under the impression that the small hub caps were an option on 6 cylinder cars only, but I may be mistaken. Another item I am going to add is 10" tires in the back. Those wheel wells will swallow a lot of tire! -

Thank you! As far as I can tell this is a "Classic" model. The passenger side is missing the front dog leg of the trim . The one I had was mangled. The original color was a two tone brown and tan. I'm happy that the color was changed, just wish they'd spent a bit more time and money on it, but that was years ago. At least it's shiny! Fun fact: It already has a 74 grille in it. The previous owner broke the 77 grille (plastic I think). The 74 grille is all some kind of pot metal, including the surround. The surround on the 77 is aluminum. -

Yeah, nothing like the possibility of instant death or serious injury to keep the pulse pounding. The other big issue I'm having is age related. It just hurts to crawl under the car and is even less fun getting back up. So I try to make sure I have every tool I'm going to need. Never works, but I try. -

Thanks, Nathan! It's a 77 so has the stacked rectangle front headlights. I'm not particularly a fan of those so I am now installing some 74 round headlight buckets. -

After a long bout of procrastination I finally got the new shocks, dropped spindles, shorter springs and front sway bar installed. I should point out how much I hate installing front springs. This might be the last set I do myself. Car is dirty from the shop. -
Just re-read William Gibson's Neuromancer for the umpteenth time since the late 1980s. Funny, I found out about this book through a Commodore 64 video game of the same title. Other than a few anachronisms such as the failure to predict the cell phone it holds up really well as a dystopian vision of what the internet might have been. The entire Sprawl Trilogy is excellent, as are some of his other works. They really bear re-reading because there is so much detail and nuance, it's easy to miss the first time through.

82 Dodge van Good Time

Just think of the overload springs and heavy duty shocks on the back of that! Great concept and well executed! Note: Has that gal got pants on? -
Outstanding detail! Don't beat yourself up on the little stuff. This is a show winner in my book.

Great memories! Thank you. -
I live on a rural county road. Wash and wax brings dust clouds from cars passing at 60 plus mph.

I'm really liking this Zippi! I think you're killing it! (in a good way) Like most of us, I'm not prepared to pay for an original kit, so I might fire up the printer for one of these as well!
-
I made an offer on this lot and got them cheaply as well! Both complete in open boxes. Sure the 64 is not the new Moebius offering but I like the old kits equally, for different qualities.

Got this lot from eBay very cheap. Yes, parts are missing here and there but that gives me the mental green light to modify to my tastes. Patent Pending is complete minus wheels and tires and a few minor things. Glue on some parts but not too much, so it will be easy disassembly. Riviera appears complete with an extra chassis and tub. Body is molded in gray but the rest is yellow. I'm guessing a different issue was molded entirely in gray. No motor in the International. Time to fire up the printer! The Mythos appears complete, but I have little to no interest in it, so it may be a parts kit or trade fodder. The McLaren sadly has no body, but maybe I can find a print file for that too...

This has always been one of my favorites. Well done! On the sconces: Perhaps use a paint pen for the gilding? Maybe also mask the "glass" and trim it with a very sharp blade. Just some random thoughts.

I have something similar to this. Works amazingly well. If you have a sawzall this'll make your life easy... https://www.amazon.com/MixKwik-Paint-Shaker-2-0-Reciprocating/dp/B0DVBJ8QD8?ref_=ast_sto_dp

Hi guys, on the off chance someone has one of these laying around I specifically need the swing arm assembly but an incomplete parts kit would be great. Lots of trade items. Thank you!

I still have my 23 horse Cub Cadet that I bought several years ago. It's a good machine and has a stout manufactured steel deck, but it's been relegated to towing a wagon or an aerator or leaf collector. I switched to the zero turn partly because of the need to mow some very tall, thick grass and the lawn tractor wasn't quite up to it.
-
Somehow I missed this build but this is the best version of a Monza I've seen. Stance, wheels, color choice are spot on, and your execution is fantastic.
-
Last year, I finally took the plunge and will never go back to mowing with a lawn tractor. I mow roughly two acres and this cut my mowing time down significantly. I ended up buying a Bad Boy MZ Magnum. Not too big or too small and built like a tank. That little Statesman is a neat tractor.

Nice! You only go around once, and you can never have too many tools!

Carl, can you expand on your statement? I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. Are you saying that Mike's specific bed is too thin and low? It's probably just the picture that makes it look that way. The foam mattresses in our house are just as thick as any conventional we've had. They are normal size and use normal sheets. As far as low goes, that totally depends on what height of foundation you're using. It's actually much more flexible than the old style. Ours are normal bed height.

Amazing work! I'm not even a fan of the Lark, but this is next level!
