Would like to trade to receive meister Brai tractor puller
redscampi replied to Hotrodical customs's topic in Trading Post
There is one on eBay right now. Expensive, but not terribly so for a rare kit like this, in this economy. There is also a Blazing Bison which is a reissue of this kit for a quite a bit less. -

Oblivious? Unaware? Unknowing? Unconscious? Absentminded? That's all I took your comment to be. -

I don't think he was being disrespectful. It appears he was simply making a point about how it can be difficult to properly categorize a topic. Perhaps a different word would have conveyed that better. -
Hobby Lobby Inventory reduction sale
redscampi replied to magicmustang's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have to drive almost an hour for a Hobby Lobby so I don't make the trip often, usually only when we're in Waco for other business. So, when I'm in the mood, I'll just log on to Hobby Lobby website and order what I want. If I order several kits, the shipping is really not terrible. All of the searching in the posts above made me wonder why we go to the store when it's so much easier, and arguably cheaper to order on line? Sorry about the off topic post. -
Is It Wrong to Hate My Neighbors?.....ALL OF 'EM!!!!
redscampi replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Unfortunately, I think it's much more of a cultural issue. Generations of people have now been taught from a young age that they can do whatever they want. We live in a very selfish society. Social media is full of spoiled people acting out. Without going into specifics it is directly attributable to people's upbringing. So, I expect what you have to deal with is more the norm, and the exception is having great neighbors all around you. -

Just to play the devil's advocate on the tag and title thing: Every site user would need to comply to make it really useful. A lot of folks don't want to have to jump through hoops just to share their builds. It's just another thing you have to remember. Also, new folks would sign up and potentially immediately be scolded for not using tags. I know, I know! They should read the rules! This is a hobby site and it shouldn't feel like work or an HOA. In my opinion. -
Round2 '68 El Camino Street Machine Kit

Thanks for the info, Tim. Definitely tips the scale a little! Wait...wood bed? I'm probably out. I get that some folks do this but definitely no my cup of tea. -
Round2 '68 El Camino Street Machine Kit
redscampi replied to stavanzer's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I love the new box art, but...has anything changed except less parts inside? I already have the all American soap box derby version and the derby champions kit II. Being an El Camino owner, I always want more but I need something besides the box to compel me on this one. -
Nice price! I believe there are two complete cars in the Fruitwagon kit. Could be wrong. No worries on the box! Thanks for keeping your eyes peeled anyway. To console myself, I bought an empty AHM branded Meter Cheater box I stumbled across. I have a mint Revell kit and didn't need the box, but I'd never seen one before and there are no pictures on the net.

The built ups are great and I love the Fruit wagon. There is nothing else in the bunch that I would kick to the curb. Really nice haul Mike!

Is It Wrong to Hate My Neighbors?.....ALL OF 'EM!!!!
redscampi replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I absolutely hated my neighbors. Dogs, rats, junk cars, unkempt trashy yard, police drama, weird people showing up at odd hours, and the worst - since their yard was at a much higher elevation than mine, the dude would lean on his deck rail smoking while staring at whatever we were doing in our back yard. They absolutely destroyed our otherwise mostly tranquil escape from the world. Thankfully, I retired and we moved to a home where we have 300 acres around us and the folks that own it are more than 1/4 mile away. My current next door neighbors are a flock of sheep. Next year might be cows again. They're pretty cool for the most part. -

You can pick your friends, and you can pick your nose, but you can't wipe your friends on your saddle. - slight variation I heard somewhere. Original: You can pick your friends. You can pick your nose, but not your friend's nose. -

Bigger scale 'T' parts.
redscampi replied to HotRodaSaurus's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yeah, I get that. The gold is a bit of a put off for a lot of people. It' doesn't bother me since re-plating or painting is my preference. Kit chrome often looks quite toy-like to me. I think, if it was me, I'd just put them all in a lot and start the bidding where you're comfortable and see what happens. -

Best thing to do is look through the sold listings on eBay. That'll give you a good idea. What parts are they? -
Welcome! Nice builds there.

He doesn't seem to have any grasp of automotive design concepts. There is nothing aesthetically pleasing to the eye in anything he creates. It's just a lot of stuff randomly grafted on to what was once a decent looking car. The wildest creations of George Barris look downright tasteful compared to this.

I FOUND 20 BUCKS UNDER THE SEAT OF MY TRUCK!
redscampi replied to DREAMSCALE CONCEPTS's topic in WIP: Model Cars
This looks really interesting. I have always had a love/hate relationship with T-birds in general. Could never decide if they were or were not a "chick" car. 😁 I like where this one is going. -
Facebook misrepresentation
redscampi replied to Rockford's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Nailed it. People seem to say all kinds of stupid things online, especially when they're upset. It's a bit like watching someone's inner monologue which can be disturbing and will permanently alter your perception of that person. -

The Big Boys forum was what initially drew me to this site. I found it frustrating when the decision to do away with the sub-sections on this site was made because it made it more difficult to find the content I was looking for. I also believe that not having dedicated sections can cause folks to just not bother with posting at all. Lots of people work hard on kits that don't fit the standard "model car" format. Having to post those in the relative obscurity of the miscellaneous section is a bit of a let down since it inhibits the sense of community generated by people that share the same interests. -
A well thought out build. Very, very tastefully done!
