  1. The Big Boys forum was what initially drew me to this site. I found it frustrating when the decision to do away with the sub-sections on this site was made because it made it more difficult to find the content I was looking for. I also believe that not having dedicated sections can cause folks to just not bother with posting at all. Lots of people work hard on kits that don't fit the standard "model car" format. Having to post those in the relative obscurity of the miscellaneous section is a bit of a let down since it inhibits the sense of community generated by people that share the same interests.
  2. A well thought out build. Very, very tastefully done!
  3. I also agree. And, his printed bodies are not too shabby either. Quite nice for a very reasonable price.
  4. I have enough heirs but I don't think they care about my models, except in how they're going to get rid of them. So, I'll keep ya in mind! I actually have two Dog Catchers, one obtained through a trade here, and the other in an eBay lot. Both are/were significantly gluey, but I'm working on repairs from time to time. I snagged a Sand Shark with a couple of short-shotted body parts which will provide suspension, wheels, tires etc. I was able to partially lift the decals from one of them by applying clear Scotch tape and pulling gently away, but they're too damaged to reuse.
  5. Sounds about right. I've been filling in the perceived blank spots in my collection from time to time with the "harder-to-find" kits. My wife is supportive, if not actively encouraging... Does STS have any Monogram Dogcatcher decals, d'ya think?
  6. I share your passion for show rods. I have...plenty, including 2 beer wagons. Nice score!
  7. Old men arguing pointlessly on the internet. Geez guys - plastic toy cars.
  8. When I was a kid we were sitting at the dinner table eating as the sun was going down. My dad looked out the picture window into our back yard just as a mole began to push dirt up in the lawn. He ran out and grabbed a spade and decapitated that little monster while we were all watching. Funny the things you remember...
  9. Thanks Carl. You are right. This isn't the first orphan we've taken in and likely will not be the last. We're hoping to get him weaned then we'll see if the herd will let him back in or not.
  10. I was in the attic yesterday morning and kept hearing a little bleating noise. There are sheep in the pasture behind us, so I didn't really pay attention too much. But then a bit later I walked out to the trash can and saw this little guy that had been abandoned by his mother. He was filthy and skin and bones and the herd had left him behind. Some of them have been having twins and even triplets, so some don't get to nurse. I don't think this one was going to survive. Anyway, we now have a new pet...He's cleaned up a bit here and had something to drink.
  11. I've been way too busy with other stuff lately but here's something I threw together to get the juices flowing again. This a is a glue bomb rescue with parts box wheels at the moment. Sort of a blank canvas. Thoughts?
  12. Awesome build! Stance is spot on and I love the two tone.
  13. I'd say you just about have a corner on the market for Dodge van kits...
  14. Someone once pointed out to me that a car in primer was full of potential. Anyone can visualize their dreams on a blank slate. Once you paint it - it's yours. You'll get the whole gamut of reactions from love to hate. Not to mention that if your tastes are a bit off the beaten track, the car can be much more difficult to sell because the color can be off-putting to some. But we were talking about model cars, right?
  15. Man, this one has got "the look"! Great, clean looking build and I'm happy to see I'm not the only slow builder.
  16. Love this! Great weathering and execution.
  17. Just a little humor. A lot of the prefabricated headers made for specific applications do not fit very well and I've seen lots of dimpled headers in otherwise nice cars. Personally I think it's a short cut and looks like one most of the time.
  18. Yep, get out the ball peen hammer and start wailing on those brand new ceramic coated, high buck pipes. Hurts every time, but seems necessary almost every time when your building hot rods. Not Chevy and not mine...:)
  19. Haha! I hadn't noticed that. Weird...
  20. Your wish...is granted. Sort of.
  21. This build is really turning out noice! Great work on the rear door and paint work!
  22. I found this message on the Wayback Machine site, posted on May 18th of this year. That's the last activity to date. Message from the Admin SMC is temporarily closed until I can find a solution for the constant DDOS attacks. The site needs to move to a different host but its not something I can afford right now. Sorry for the inconvenience
  23. I hope things are going smoothly and your project is completed in a timely fashion!
  24. Our local Central Texas paper must have interns working overnight. Often the stories they post have glaring omissions for context, location, etc., not to mention the nonsense sentences. I've gotten to where I just snicker a bit and move on. I realized very early in school that we were not all going to be spelling or grammar champions. I just struggle with how some of those folks ended up working in areas where "words mean things".
