Nice to see this build have some spotlight time again! Looking good

Cool project John. Someday I plan on making a Yamaha XJ out of a Virago kit. The inline 4 on this looks pretty good. Do you have a suggestion for a Yamaha inline or would a Honda be ok for a start? I'm watching this unique bike you have here.

Those springs look really great Dan. I like the detail on the chassis you have going on here.

I somehow missed this post Have you any updates?

Wel,l so you guys and gals know this is not dead, I started the tires and wheels today. In this set you can see I painted the wheels white and I show the type of blackwash I use. I have to water this stuff down now a little or it will take off the chrome on chrome parts. It did not do that at first. Anyway In the pictures I watered down the ink and applied it to the low laying parts of the wheel and with a wet paper towel wipe the extra off of the higher areas. I also wipe it down with a dry towel until I get the desired effect. Next up was some BMF for the hub cap which I will more than likely redo. I am not happy with it. Then came white lettering. This is a pen I found at Hobby Lobby but I found it's better to let the paint come out on a surface and still use a toothpick. I have started the windows too but need to correct a few places. Hopefully more to come tomorrow and enjoy!

Real!! Oh wait.... Anyway Great Caddy John! I'm glad you stuck with the build even though you did not like it. My grandfather adored cars like this from Caddy and Packard. I wish he was here to show him yours. It's spectacular and beautiful.

Well my free model fairy made a surprise drop off today. An old Monogram plane. I checked for a newer copyright and there isn't one so it appears this is a 1965 or 67 German fighter. Not started at all and mostly still on the sprue. It's a bit small compared to most planes I have but I will never complain about free I'm certainly not a collector I am a builder but do any of you guys know if this is a more valuable kit being how old it is? Just curious.

Clarafacation I hope.

Perfect example of poor 2 Mad mudder kits ( One free from a friend ) Tank kit $5 at a thrift store. Plow posts are wood sticks from a food package and the plow is actually $0.38 cent posted board from Fry's grocery store. The rest is parts box. Sometimes the imagination beats the wallet -

I started my collection at the age of 9. By the time I was 16 I had a "few" kits. By the time I was 22 I had about 300 built kits all destroyed by a Jerk that thought they belonged to a roomate. You can look at my bench and my stash of kits and a few years ago I'd say it's all about the pocket book too. I changed that thought process with MY own doing. I decided to to take actions where I could get models at discount prices. Such as thrift stores, yard sales, friends, found some in a dumpster once. I rebuilt alot in ten years and very cheap. I agree with someone elses comment and that is that ONLY... your attitude towards the hobby will affect your building. -
Here is my bench this saturday. I am getting Ecto ready for interior paint and to tint the windows. I don't think I'll be getting a lot done now since I screwed up and added a 9 inch dvd player to watch movies and tv seasons with

From a wifes point a view
Railfreak78 replied to Nick Notarangelo's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My wife has always been great about my hobby. I used to go out to adult themed clubs and bars all the time when I was in my early to mid 20's and she only complained about the cost. Then my appetite for Hot Wheels kicked back in and once again it was costly and I was never home. Always driving from store to store wasting gas to find what I want. Now she is happy cause I normally get my kits cheap and I'm home building them. She knows I'm safe and doing what I want. She only wishes I did have the money for the 1:1 projects I have but then again she might be fibbing since that means I'll be out 4x4'ing or riding my motorcycle -
I've been hoping to find a Maverick myself as I love them! Nice work on this one the overall build is awesome.

These are the kind of low riders I like. Restored nicely and the wheels sit inside the wheel wells. Your inspiration car has something I've never seen before. I have never seen a low rider with a billet grille. Interesting project.

A man has got to know his limitations
Railfreak78 replied to DRG's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I personally like both kinds of builds. I like to build detailed monsters sometimes and yet sometimes I like to get back to basics. As in out of box. Therefore, I enjoy seeing both kinds of builds. I like the wow factor like Rommel, John T, and more do. I also like the basic builders that still show off a guys love for cars. All acceptable and remember it's a hobby for car lovers, by car lovers to share with other car lovers in this community. -
Well here is my score from my LHS today. This combined with last night I got all of these kits for $50 and the Harley has a started frame the rest are un-started so being its within 24 hours I'll make this an add on basically.

I've been eye balling Yodel brand police cruisers on Ebay for a couple years now. I finally saw a NYPD Coronet/Fury (1976 ish) that was not sealed and the body and decals were already done ( In a sealed bag ). Are all Yodel kits pre-painted kits? If no are all the police ones pre painted? I have heard great feedback of these cars but they are not cheap. I personally do not want a pre- painted one. Any ideas are welcome and thank you.

Get well soon man! -
I got a killer score on Craigslist today! Another bike which is the whole reason I wanted to make the trip. To my surprise a Jeff Burton car which I thought was a Hut Stricklin or Marlin car. I was planning to make it Burton And a USS Enterprise from Tamiya. All for the very expensive cost of $10

Looks great so far! I like the color and the monochrome look. Nice take on a car most don't even like. I'd love to get a real one.

Cool project! Your going to have every car from that movie here soon Everytime I see pics from the movie I think they filmed that here in Arizona out by Bartlett Lake. Anyway I love the boxy style Chevy/GMC's so I'm watching.
