  1. I'm with Nick on this one. Pre '79 would be good. Bit different style vehicles maybe than this time, so it's not the same game twice, and it's quite large category which means lots of different kinds of builds. Cannonball Euro would be great idea, But I wonder how many racers there would be? Mostly we build American Cars in here. I would be in for sure with my Austin Healey. Muscle Car Mash sounds excellent. I would be in there too. I guess there would be many racers with their favorite Muscle Cars. Cannonball 2000. Good idea, but would there be any other cars than new Mustangs, Camaros and Challengers? I might be in if that's chosen, but could those cars have older parts than 2000? Unlimited is good too, many different kinds of racers. Just thinking aloud. I hope we get nice race next year doesn't matter which subject is chosen. I guess I'm in anyway.
  2. If you're going to build it as Drag Racer with wide rear slicks, then The easiest way would be to buy Revell '55 or '57 Pro Sportsman Chevy, there you would get all you need. A chassis with huge wheel tubs and rear slicks, narrow rear axle with four links, wheelie bars, Racing wheels, nice Racing engine with Tunnel Ram intake and Dominators, etc. It's really nice kit, I haven't tried the chassis to that Challenger body, though so I don't know if it fits nicely or not, but even if the chassis would need narrowing or any other things, I guess it's the easiest way to do it. I have these both kits anyway, I can do a test fit... Another way is of course to saw that chassis into two pieces just before the rear axle crossover-place. Then build new rear frame from Brass as I did for my '64 Falcon or from plastic. Then just scratchbuild the floor to the rear-end and new wheel tubs from aluminium or something. Then just connect the part you made to the original chassis. Of course one way is to scratchbuild everything, but that's really extreme scratchbuilding, absolutely the hardest way.
  3. Thanks Joe! Your '57 Chevy Pro Mod looks fantastic, that one gives alot of inspiration to keep going with these Sportsman class cars too. I should have an update later today. I will be working with the interior and chassis, stay tuned.
  4. Yeah, moving on to the engine, my favorite part in Model Building! Your powerplant looks fantastic so far, nice details on it. Can't wait to see more.
  5. You can see there's still need for a few touchups on the engine parts too.
  6. An update. I painted the chassis and body with Maston red spray paint. They turned out Okay, there is need for polish and that kind of basic stuff, but I think it can be saved. The shade of that red is really good for my taste. Also I got the interior floor painted gloss white. Some engine work has been done too, carburetor installed and painted with thinned Humbroll's Clear Orange. Next coming some more detailing, stay tuned.
  7. Well that's beautiful, as your builds always are. Nice job with the body modifications on it, and I like the look with bit smaller tires. I've always thought red and silver fit very well together, this one proves that I'm true. You sure don't build much Box Stock, these are much more fun to follow. Another nice and fun build finished, can't wait to see next ones.
  8. Stunning work as always from your bench. Nice paint job on it, and that engine looks excellent. What did you use for weathering? I'm using The Detailer, but it is bit too shiny in some point.... Otherwise it's fantastic stuff. Your Mustang looks excellent, can't say anything negative about it.
  9. Thanks, Bill! It means alot when coming such a Talented builder as you.
  10. That looks very good! Your engine details look very nice, and it's true-Detailing is not as horrible as it feels first. And it makes the model look much better.
  11. Wow that looks good to me! Excellent paint job on it, even if you said it still needs more paint coats. The engine looks good too, this one will be very interesting to see, I'm tuned in! And thanks again of the Gasser rules.
  12. Thanks, Cole! There's actually much more work in these Stockers, than many people would think. Next I'm moving on to paint all chassis parts and get it on four wheels. I guess it is ready on winter/spring 2013.
  13. . Thanks Dave! After my "Birthday-party" on Sunday, I sprayed some blue as overspray to the chassis. It didn't turn out perfect, actually it's far away from it but the best I could do with spray can. Then I painted the Gas Tank, or actually the visible part of it black. Next assembling the chassis!
  14. Yeah I have to agree. ....Even if I'm a guy who has built many of those "Gassers". But where to get the rules? Personally I have absolutely No Idea about these Old Rules, and I bet someone else has this kind of problem too. That's why we, or at least I, build "Gassers" instead of Gassers.
  15. Thanks Ben! Yes those wheels and tires are excellent quality, when I saw them at Daytona Racing Hobbies & Souvenirs right next to the Speedway, I had to get two sets of wheels and two sets of tires. I would have bought more, but I didn't have enough cash with me. Well next time more. I primered a bunch of parts yesterday, I should have something painted today, if everything goes well.
  16. Thanks Guys! Those wheels and tires are really great, wheels have even the bolt and lug nut molded so that they can be painted with different shades of silver. Well personally I'm more Chevy guy, but Mopars are very cool too. Especially these Stock Cars and Drag Racers. Here's some more. I started the engine assembly. It went together very well, not any kind of problems so far. I added the spark plug wires too, next I need to continue assembling more parts like the carburetor and belt & Pulleys. Also I managed to get the Wheels And Tires done. I sanded those tire treads first, then installed wheels. I painted the lug nuts bright silver, center caps and bolts are bit darker silver. Tire textes came from Plastic Performance Products, too. Door panels had a lot of Ejector marks. I sanded them down, and put little putty there, so everything will be smooth after a coat of primer.
  17. Yes. These are really nice, I have few what are damaged while molding process, they were very cheap to get. Even they are very good quality. Even if the price may sound high, those are really worth buying.
  18. Nice build, as always Darryl! Your builds always amaze me, always nice paint jobs and details, this one is not exception. Keep 'em Coming!
  19. Agreed. On FCMA Open 2012, In Finland, Tapani Rauramo had one Bulletnose Studebaker finished, but I don't know where it is built, resin or if it's own conversion. ______________________________________________________________________________________________ Very nice Gasser build. This is what I would build from '51 Studebaker. Your paint job looks very good, detail is excellent and overall look is very clean also. Nice job.
  20. Wow, that came out very beautiful, Bruce! Maybe one of the bests I've seen from your bench, even if your all other builds are very nice too. I like the paint and overall clean-look on this one. It's actually much better looking as LeMans than GTO. Congratulations on very nice model, Bruce.
  21. Thanx, Danno!
  22. Thanx, Mike! That sounds excellent, I'm in!
  23. Thanks Matthew, Mike and Ron! Yeah, I wanted to build a car that is easier to drive than Gassers and what had exhaust pipes with mufflers and that kind of stuff, so it would be fun car to race with. But then at the same time, it had to be fast and serious racer. Thanx Again.
  24. That's Nice one, too! I can't decide which one of these Cannonballers is my Favorite, they are so great. This one looks very good too, the bodywork turned out great. Those few spare tires on the back is very nice addition.
  25. Wheels Painted With Revell's Gloss Black Enamel Paint. Removed The Molded In Wire From The Inner Fender. A Little Putty Was Needed, Too. Sanding Tomorrow, And Then Paint. Body Primered: Stay Tuned For More!
