Thanks for the info, Bradley. I'll take my time, don't worry about that. I have only that body and engine bay of that MPC kit. It'll be with tube frame, I believe. Or if I can find good chassis for it, I might use that one as a basis. Interior is going to be simple. Aluminium and only few important cauges. Now I'm going to get back to the bench, maybe later today there's coming update, but I'm not sure about that yet.

Wow, thanks for the comments everyone! That orange one is the MC Laren Mustang, that's only thing I know about it. That other one is pretty simple kit, engine bay detail is.... Bad. And I wont be using that part. It could be MPC, but I'm not sure. The information about Fox Mustang kits is great in this topic, needs to say. I try to do that bodywork as nicely as I can, doesn't matter if it takes three months or two years. I want to restore that Outlaw body, because of its history. Without that, I don't know, what I could have done to it.

This is really interesting concept. I like that Camaro top, it fits really nicely to Chevelle body shapes. Usually I don't like those big wheels, but they fit nicely to this. Just because this looks like concept and would be Chevrolet's car model on 2012. Great job with it, paintjob is amazing too. I like it.

And Outlaw Mustang got some progress too. I filled the holes from the rear with styrene. Now I can start building the front spoiler (or what it is called, I don't know). When I can get that done, then it might be time to put some bondo on it.
-
Thanks Tony! These are pretty rough, you're right. But luckily, I have no hurry so I can build these slowly and that bodywork will take long time. But I haven't done anything like this before, so it's really interesting to build models from these... Little update also. I removed some styrene from the hood. Now I mean that C/Street Mustang. I will build Cowl Induction scoop there, when I can test fit the engine so I can see how high or low it needs to be. I glued cylinder heads, valve covers, intake manifold, carburetor and oil pan to the engine. That timing chain cover and water pump- part is installed too. (Sorry for the bad pictures, engine looks very odd in them.) The chassis is now back from MR Muscle. I glued that front part of the frame on its place and after bit of styrene, it fits ok. Needs to build one crossmember, maybe from scratch or then if I find one, I might use that as a basis.
-
Now I'm back with the Corvette. It's not finished yet, as I have said already, here are two pictures of the hood in progress. First one is after some putty, and now I sanded it. Needs to put some more bondo and hopefully it'll be ready for primering pretty soon. I'm waiting for few decals to the chassis also, but otherwise it's pretty much done. That register plate on the front is just a little thing, and very easy to change.
-
And here I have filled the bullet hole with styrene. Lots of bondo needs to be attached, but there are some more places for styrene before putting any bondo... That's all for now, I'll post updates when I have something to update.

Then let's move on to the Outlaw Mustang. Outlaw is Category for too radical Street Cars, and Outlaw has "safety index". That's 7.50 seconds. But cars were supposed to run 8,0 or 7,9 usually. My basis for this project is really rough body, But it has really... Well, odd history. In 1983-1985 Finnish builder saw this first time, and it was white with red and white chassis and black interior. It has also been bright red, blue and black. It has been also with "TargaTop", convertible and Pickup... So many different versions. Some time, some of those many builders of this car, gave lots of damage to the body. There are many cranks and other marks, that the body has been glued to one piece from few hundreds of pieces. And there is at least one bullet hole. So the body has history, that's why I'll be restoring it. Here are pictures of the basis. First I glued the body, it was almost in two pieces from that spot: Rear bumber was just taped on... Alright, here we go for some modifications to the top.

Here is yet one picture about that Pro Charger, and picture of that engine before going to the paint stripping... And this picture shows, where I am right now. I had the engine without paint and then I smoothed that mold line from the transmission. That little mold line on the engine will be covered up later, so don't worry about it.
-
And here's one picture of the chassis: And here we have this glue bomb after taking it apart. Interior and chassis were impossible to get in two different parts, now they are and they will be one and the same part, that doesn't matter too much, I think. I had to open hole for the grille to the front. Also I added little styrene part to fill that missing part on the front spoiler, or what is it called... Ok, then lets start building the engine for C/Street Mustang. Street is Heads Up racing, and C/Street is for small blocks, D/street for Big Blocks. And this will be with 302 Small Block. That engine needs Pro Charger, so I scratchbuilt one. The Pro Charger is built from some plastic tubing, and some solder around it. Then I built that belt pulley. It's styrene tubing, but I "lathed" little groove for the belt. I painted some silver on it, and assembled. Pretty good, but it doesn't look as good in the pictures...

Alright, here we go. Some pictures. First, I'm building these two Mustangs same time, so in one update, there might be pictures from both Mustangs, but I'll try to say clearly, is it C/Street-Mustang or Outlaw-Mustang. Here we have the basis for these projects. Two glue bombs. That orange one is MCLaren Mustang and it will be the C/Street Mustang. I have chassis and interior for that, so the basis is pretty good. Let's get started with this one, I'll tell about that blue Outlaw Mustang later... The C/Street Mustang is pretty rough in some places, but it can be quite easily built nice and shiny Race Car. I mean that the bodywork doesn't take years... Here are some pictures about the Mustang just after buying it.

I'm sorry, but that doesn't help me. I need at least six months to build one car, I'm so slow builder. But I'll be watching your builds, it's interesting community build anyway.
-
Great, count me in with -'79 Ford Mustang Outlaw. -'80 Ford Mustang C/Street Yes, they both are Drag Racers, and they are glue bomb restores. These will take time, but when it's an open ended build, it doesn't matter. Great CBP, I'll be posting WIP pictures bit later today.

Trans Am Cars were Javelins, as mentioned above. But that DragOnLady kit is.... Well, not so great quality. Chassis has molded in rear axle, and inner fenders on the front are anything but correct. I built most of the subframe on the front from Evegreen... Interior has molded in seats, they have to be removed and door panels need lots of fixing and scratchbuilding. Of course you need to do something for the firewall also, and inner fenders are pretty hard to scratchbuild. I haven't been looking for other parts, and if they are realistic, or not but with those modifications, project isn't so fast anymore.
-
Well, it's already gone, but is it still possible to join in, since some builders have their Foxes still in Progress? I have two Fox bodied Mustangs coming right now...
-
Interesting community build, I'll be watching. I have some Hot Rods on the bench, but the deadline is way too tight for me, I could never get any of them finished before that date, I think.
-
Well this one is really sweet build! Factory Stock '61 Galaxie is in need of some Police equipments. Your build looks very good with all those Police equipments, very nice job with it, it's very clean build.
-
Paintjob looks very good as always. I like the body shaping of this Oldsmobile, especially when it's HardTop. Great job with the grille, it looks realistic. Very cool build, I like it alot.
-
WooHoo, this looks very good. I like the paintjob very much, shiny and smooth. Decals fit very nicely, and great job with that side trim. I like the stance, great job with it. Wheels and tires are great also. Really beautiful NASCAR racer, I'd like to build one older Nascar from the 40's or 50's. Maybe early 60's too.

This is really cool '57 Chevrolet. I like the paintjob and decaling very much. Really nice job with the tires and wheels also, great build overall. Nothing wrong with it. -
This is really great project. I'm really Glad when I see these really Traditional Hot Rods, or Customs etc. Not too modern... The stance looks very good and body shapes are great, not too much Chopped or channeled, great job. I'll be following this, because Old School Is Cool!

1969 Camaro outlaw prostreet updates 11/19/11
W-409 replied to tyrone's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
I can see nine rivets! Looks like you have one rivet missing, or then it can't be seen in thay picture... Great job with the paintjob on this one, very glassy. How you can get those roll cages fit perfectly to the body shapes, do you just mock up, bit modifications, mock up etc. Or do you have different technigue? I need to build roll cage to the Falcon, so I'm asking bit of help... Hope you understood what I'm trying to say. -
I like that stance very much. Great job with the color choice. Paintjob looks good too. I like those Chrome Reverse wheels, they fit almost every body style from the 50's and 60's. Fin Studebaker, grattis!

Need your ideas on a 65 Barracuda
W-409 replied to Bridgebuster's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Buying resin would be good idea, but for example, I just don't have enough money for it. Here's what I should do... Buy Hemi Under Glass kit, or maybe only thing you need is only the body with grilles, bumbers etc. Then buy chassis from Dodge Dart, for example, as Michael said... Interior can be found from '69 Barracuda.... Well, if you buy those three complete kits, this gets so expensive, that Resin kit is better way. And it's easier way, but I haven't done things in easy way before, that's why I maybe think this hard solutions. But if you buy only Hemi Under Glass body, Dart chassis and Barracuda interior, you save some money and few bucks more, then you'll get an engine... But as I said, easier way is to buy that resin kit, but that's just one way to do '65 Barracuda. -
Nice to see more Finnish people on this forum! Little update to my Charger project. I bought some Braided line from Detail Master and I built fuel line from carburetors to fuel pump. I didn't remember to buy blower belt, so I had to build one. Pullies are made from plastic tube, they need still some bolts... And the belt is paper, which is just painted black. I'm going to make some throttle linkages next, some other detailing too. And interior needs to be started too. I tried to add some black wash, I think Detailer works fine, but I'm not sure about the user..
