GREAT JOB! I like the idea of gold and chrome, this is truly amazing show car. I like that chassis, it looks just good with those color combos. Body looks good too, paintjob is great and interior looks nice too. Keep it going, this one will be simply amazing, when it gets finished. Great work with it!

Yes, that is maybe the only coice. "Bit" of scratchbuilding. '76 Skyhawk has four headlights and '79 Monza has only two so the places where those headlights are, must be made smaller, '79 Skyhawk's grille is wider than '76's, and there are lots of other differences at the front of the car. Chrome trims are bit different and interior is little different too. Here is good pics, which will show some differenties between these models... '76 Skyhawk '79 Skyhawk Why I'm so interested of these? Well, one '79 Skyhawk 2+2 with 305 SBC is sitting in the garage.

You can get parts from many Gasser kits. I think that if you are looking for high leaf springs, take them out from Monogram's BadMan kit. That kit has also quite good axle, but you get better one from Revell's '41 Willys Gasser. Also Revell Miss Deal Funny Car ('53 Studebaker Commander) has good axle systems and ladder bars. Also that BadMan kit has good ladder bars. I think that you got good basis for the build if you just buy just some Gasser kit, they all must have good leaf springs and maybe ladder bars too, but good front axle comes from Revell '41 Willys, as I said before. For example, BadMan's front axle is not so good, it's just a straight tubing. If that axle would be in 1:1 scale, wheels would not turn nowhere. Here is a picture of my '57 Nomad, it has the BadMan from axle system, and I'm not happy about that axle.

Yes, thanx, Cliff! Now the waterhose will fit nicely and I can continue the work with this. Thanks for the picture too, that's great! Now when I start another Mopar project, I must put that distributor correctly. Then it's easier to continue the build without fixing old mistakes.

Is there Resin kit from '79 Buick Skyhawk? If there is one, I must get one! Is there even Conversion Kit from that car?

Ross Gibson Engines are really good quality. Some of those are coming with detail parts, like plug wires etc. Belts are usually somekind of black thin sheet, where you cut one which fits to the pulleys. Those engines are really good, and they have lots of parts included (they aren't looking simple). Resin parts needs just some more work, but I see no problem there. Important is to wash those parts before painting, gluing etc. I got a paper with my '60 Nomad resin body (it's Jimmy Flintstone's body, but both are resin, so here are few tips). "Working with Resin and Pewter Kits 1. CLEANING- Before using, parts must be washed off with soap, alcohol to remove mold release. 2. WARPING-If part has a slight warp or is bent, use hot, NOT BOILING water to help you pull it back into shape, then use cold waterfor it to "take a set" as you would with a plastic kit. 3. BODY WORK-After cleaning, the parts may be sanded, filled or drilled. Small imperfections of air bubbles can be filled with super glue or 5 minute epoxy. 4. PAINTING- Primer coats of automotive primer are recommended on all parts before painting. Hobby paints, enamel and automotive lacquers work fine for finish coats. 5. STRIPPING PAINT- Some strippers amy damage the resin parts, test a small are first. You may use a lacquer thinner, easy off oven cleaner, and some brake fluids. 6. GLUING- Use super glue or 5 minute epoxy. 7. PHOTO-ETCH- Cut off tree with sharp scissors, remove bluedye with findernail polish remover. 8. PEWTER- Can be buffed with steel wool, fine grit sand paper, polishing with chrome polish. Seal polished surface with a clear coat. 9. Vacuum form fit windows trim carefully with scissors. 10. Test fit all parts before painting and final assembly! 11. Always use respirator dust mask when sanding resin parts."

Great looking Charger. I like the real thing, it looks just good. Paintjob is great. You did a good job with those decals too. I like the Plastic Performance Products' tires, I have few sets of them too. Really cool Dodge. -
AMAZING! I '70 Cuda looks better than '71, so big points from this year model. Paintjob looks great and color is nice. Engine detailing looks good, I like specially that Mopar battery. Tires and wheels are looking real. Nice model, you have lots of talents.

Thank you, for the nice words. I'm now 14, but on december, I'll be 15 years old. I did some work to that distributor. I got it off quite easily, and I moved it a bit. Not much, because I don't wan't to make new plug wires and if I take those off, it would be very hard to get the new ones fit to old holes because they are full of glue and drilling them again should not be good choice... Well, it's better. It's not in the correct place but it's alright to me that way, most important thing is that I can now put the waterhose on its place. I did some work on the interior too, I put some BMF to door panels and painted the window cranks silver. Next step is gluing seats... I painted the belt and those pulleys and tire textes are now painted from every tire and wheels are finished too.

Richard: Yes, it's really fun to restore these glue bombs, there is just one way. Up! Cliff: The pics would help me very much! Must take that distributor off, hope that it's still possible. Maybe I have to make those plug wires again, or then they are maybe long enough and I have no problems taking with moving the distributor... I've built some Mopars before this one. '71 GTX, '58 Belvedere are finished and I have '68 Hemi Dart and Chi Town Hustler, '67 Hemi Charger and '41 Plymouth WIP. Well, Plymouth has Chevy Big Block and blower, but otherwise it's Mopar.
-
Well, I think that it's real. It just looks like it, can't believe that it's a model. That's why I'm saying real... But real or model, it's looking real good anyway.
-
Is that real or model? It looks amazing. Paintjob and weathering are perfect, that dust on it is looking like how it is in 1:1 cars. I like those tires and wheels too. How about the engine pictures? This car is also great, it's just sad that it's hard job to make that thing look like original... Model looks good anyways.

Thanx, Cliff! I got some work done yesterday. I installed plug wires to the engine. The firing order is correct for Mopar 440. Wires are Scale Dreams' stuff and they are looking fine. I also painted the front seats brown, but they aren't still installed, because I must detail the door panels first. Chassis plate is right now stripped, there are no paint anymore, exept few little pieces in tight places. I'll be able to spray some primer on it soon. Body needs some more stripping, but it's coming along good.

Don't know about the Falcon or 'Cuda, but that Nova kit is really simple. Engine looks maybe too small and there are not much parts... Well, I built one Nova, and I can say that yours is looking amazing! I like that Falcon and Cuda too, they are all looking very good to me. Nice Nostalgic Drag Racing cars coming, keep it up!
-
Great Dragster. The "body" looks relly good, color is nice and that paintjob is good. Engine detailing looks nice too. More of these, tires and wheels are looking great too. I have the same FED WIP, but it will take long, long time to finish.

Thanks for the feedback. Valve covers are upside down, that's bad. I think that they are so heavily glued to their place that I have no way to take them off and glue them correctly. They were glued like that, as you see from the second picture and I didn't manage to get them off when I was taking this one apart... Well, maybe I just let them be and hope that details are looking that good that everybody doesn't mind the valve covers... Distributor is in quite good position, I think, but you can't see it well from those pics, I must take better ones. There is an update coming later, so stay tuned.

After I had finished '69 Corvette I got one NASCAR done. It's Tony Stewart's Home Depot Chevy. The kit is AMT. That kit is simply terrible. Over half of the kit parts needed some modifying to fit their own places. Still many of them are not fitting correctly... For example the body isn't fitting nicely. End result looks bad too, I just built it quite fast and I didn't care too much of "little" things... It looks like that too... But it was fun to build, even if it was a bad kit. I added some details to engine and this one is painted with spray can. Some clear on it. Decals were bad too. They did split for many pieces when I dip them to the water. And yes, the body is removable.

This has been now on my workbench for few days... It's inspired by mrmike's '68 Hemi Roadrunner. This Suber Bee has a nice body shaping and it looks quite mean. Hopefully this buid is coming along quite fast, I think so... I got this one for free some time ago. The body was painted red and I think, that there are all of the parts. I didn't notice that something is missing when I got through the glue bomb. I took it apart first. I did broke the rear window, it was glued very hardly to body. Other parts are good. Right now body and chassis are in the paint stripper. I must strip the paint from few other parts as well, but first I want those to be ready... I painted the 440 Big Block orange. Manifold and carburetors are silver, as in some reference picture. I don't know if it's orange usually, but that's good to me. I painted also the exhaust manifolds and distributor. I also added ignition wires to distributor, but they are not ready yet. I drilled holes to cylinder heads, to make the job lots of easier. I painted the interior carpet matt black. Door panels and backseats are painted brown, they are like brown leather. I must paint still those front seats. I painted Good Year textes from one tire, now I must paint the rest of them. This is the basis of this project. Continues soon...

Michael: Looking good so far, I like the Fairlane when it's high and with a big engine. That Thunderbolt looks great too, I'm watching them. Jim: Thank you for the answer, now I'm again bit more wise than I was. Thanks. Now I think, I might get back to my Vette project...

Great work with this build! You are true Scale Master. I like that rearend, it looks great with those brake lines. Propeller shaft is looking good too. Rollbar is simply great, I'm watching this project very surely, keep it going.

68 pontiac banshee update 8/23 Finished moved to under glass
W-409 replied to customsrus's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Yeah, use the Pontiac wheels. They are looking very good. Body is nice too, I love your work so far. Engine looks sharp and chassis is nice too. This will be interesting to watch, don't stop now making the progress, it just looks so good now. -
Thanx John! I think, this one will be waiting for few days, but not too long, otherwise this is not ready when the deadline is... This will continue soon, but not tomorrow. Just got '67 Charger and that will be Street/Race car, I think, I get to that one right now...

I got some more work done this morning. I installed the fuel pump and fuel line from carburetor to that pump. I built glass bowl fuel filter from piece of clear parts tree. I must paint the top of it by silver, and it will look like aluminium cover. Fuel line is made from MIG welding wire... I also added the throttle return spring. Aircleaner is not glued yet. I also put the belt and the pulleys to that engine and of course the alternator too. Now back with it, making more details and other stuff. I must go to get some of my models back from Model Car Contest later today...

After Studebaker, I built '69 Corvette. It's painted with spray can and it has not any clear on it... This is also the first model where I used BMF... This is Revell's California Wheels kit, but I sold those big wheels away first and used American Racing Torq Thrust wheels. It's bit higher than the original one, and engine has some high power parts. I added ignition wires and heater hoses to the engine. Interior is pretty much original. Nothing special with this one, but it looks quite good to me. Oh, engine is anything but clean... Well, hope it doesn't matter...
