  1. Little update to my Corvette. I have sanded some little parts, like front and rear clip, and the fender parts. I glued them on place, and then I put some putty to the seams. Now it needs sanding, and more putty. Let's have a see, when comes the next update.
  2. Thank you for the comments! Engine is sitting in that place, and that's Revell's mistake. It's way too back. But I think, I have one way to get it look better. For the next one, don't want to start sawing this one... Brett: Color looks bit orange in the pics, but it's red. This '55Chevy is painted with the same paint, and there color looks as it looks really. In these pics, it's bit too orange as you said. Thank you for the nice words!
  3. Looks good, I like how you did the roof. Paintjob looks great too and color is just perfect. Engine looks good, and detailing is very nice. Nice to see these wagons, it's quite rare to build these, and that's bad. Here is one link to Space Cowboy's Photobucket album, there are some pics. http://s116.photobucket.com/albums/o33/moose5147/65%20Coronet%20Wagon/#!cpZZ1QQtppZZ24
  4. Nice 60's style Custom! I like the color and that paintjob, those decals fit nicely to that body. I like the tire and wheel combo too, lake pipes are also looking very very good. I like this one, thank you for sharing.
  5. Yes, that's true. But I think, I want to leave those valve covers chromed, or maybe I paint them with polished aluminium. Then it's possible to remove paint from the raised letters... Thank you for the tip. This is fun build but now I haven't done eny progress, because of the school, I have lots of work right now. Today I got little time and I worked with Roadsport V8 Corvette, but maybe tomorrow?
  6. Few more photos, thanks for looking! here you can see all of my Impalas. They all are Mild Customs... Comments please, I want to make next one better!
  7. This is my second model for 2011. I started working on this about three years ago. I started from the engine... I painted it orange and started to put it together. I wanted to go with chromed valve covers for a custom look, but I had not any of them so I used stock orange ones. But with '58 Impala, there came two valve cover sets for 348", I used other ones to this. Also I started to put some plug wires to engine, but after that, I stopped working with the engine. It was time to start chassis work. I didn't get much done, but I painted the hole thing, gas tank, frame etc. Painting the body was tricky. I used gloss red, but the paint left off from the body and also I saw some scratches on the paint. Then came long break. Some time ago, I started to sand old paint off from the body. I also painted some primer on it. Then some test fitting, and for a right stance, I saw some material off from the springs. Putting chassis together, was quite easy. Wheels I took from Revell's '49 Mercury and tires are from the box (if I remember correctly)... I took old plug wires off from the engine and made new ones from Detail Master's yellow wire. They are looking quite good. I also started installing the engine, but it didn't fit at all. After some sanding, cutting etc. I got it fit right. I took wheel backs from parts box, but i drilled new axle holes to them, because someone had glued axle systems very hardly to wheel backs. Finally I got them look good and I painted them with gloss black. Interior is painted with semi gloss black and then some red stripes, like Tuck 'n' Roll interior. Decal on the dash is from Monogram's '39 Chevy? Interior was quite hard to fit togehter, specially door panels and dash were hard. Cauges are decals, but the speed cauge, I painted it myself, because the decal spitted up. I did the second try with the body. I painted it with a metallic red. It went well, and I sprayed some clear on it. Foiling was awfull, so much chrome trims all around... Glasses in and some other parts before gluing the chassis. Nothing special with the final assembly...
  8. Amazing Hemi Dart. I like this kind of Dart- primer and matt black. Great looking, and I like the stance a lot. Wheels and tires look good too. How did you make little pieces of burned rubber to the rear fender? Looks good. Engine is amazing and detailing looks great too. Spark plug wires are looking just how they are in real car. Nice, thank you for sharing it, WIP topic was great to watch.
  9. Thank you, it turned out well. Let's have a see, what people say in saturday, it's a model car show in Tampere, Finland.
  10. Very nice Riviera, one of the best ones, I've seen. Paintjob looks very good to me, shiny and no orange peel at all. Nice job with the wheels are just perfect, so real looking. And that grille is great too. I like this one very much, but maybe foiling door handles would be a good idea?
  11. Cool project. I like always to see glue bomb restoration too. What is this Pickup kit? I don't know, what is in the "Starting with this..." picture, it doesn't work on my computer. It's interesting to see how this one turns out.
  12. Great Dart! I like the color very much and paintjob looks good. That engine detailing looks nice too, and chassis is amazing also. Thank you for sharing, this is one of my dream cars to build, not to own, Chevrolet is better... Nice model.
  13. Yes they are, and that's bad! But this kit is sharing some chrome parts with '59 Impala too, and these new Revell's kits from '60 Impala are having lowrider or too big wheels, Revell has not made stock wheelcovers to come with the kit. I think. How is it in Monogram's older kit, if I remember correctly, there is a full set of '60 Impala's wheelcovers? I just finished this kit and one thing is really mattering... Front tires are way too back, it's great that you fixed the problem. Nice work with the chassis, that spare tire well, it's in my Impala and does look bad! But I have built the chassis for it long time ago and that's why I didn't remove it now when I came back to work with that model. Yours is looking great!
  14. Windows are not the biggest problem... I think that fitting interior and chassis to body... It's really tricky. But anyhow, nice job with the body, paintjob is very great and foiling looks good. Is this going to be stock or somekind of Custom? Really nice job so far.
  15. Sorry, it's already sunday, but I post these pictures, because I'm very close to finish my '60 Impala Mild Custom... I must still make lake pipes and of course some finishing. But i think, I'm gettin' it ready today. This would be my second finished model in 2011.
  16. I also painted "CHEVROLET" textes from the valve covers. I used toothpick and red enamel paint. Came out pretty good, now I must do some more engine work, and of couse body isn't ready yet, so lots of work before thinking of going to primer this one... Comments and tips etc are welcome! EDIT: Those valve covers are lookin' really bad with a supermacro picture, better in live. Don't believe? Come on here to watch!
  17. Here is my new project. This is bought from Daytona Beach, Florida, just next to the Speedway. The kit is nice, I hope these parts are fitting better to each other than AMT's model, it was horrible... I'm trying to build it as nice as I can, let's have a see, how this thing turns out... Let's take a fast look to the body first. It looks quite good, but the rear end of it is first in mind. There are two molding seams (?) both sides of the spoiler. They must be removed. I took 600 roughness sandpaper and after few minutes, there were nothing. But be careful to not sand details from the body. Then it's time to move on to panel lines. They need to be graved. I took Trumpeter's panel scriber and graved panel lines of trunk and that one line, which goes on rear bumber. Got it? This is the kit: And here you can see the seam, which must be removed... Removed Trumpeter panel scriber: After the body, and rear end of it, I moved on to the tires. Body needs still more work but now I wanted to make tires to look more realistic. On the track of the tires, there goes seam. It needs to be removed. So roughness 400 sandpaper, and I sanded the track of these slicks and now it looks good, like used. But the sides of tires are still too glossy. I have tried to polish some tires, and they are pretty good, but now I thought that sanding off 600 paper would look good. And it looks good, just be careful to not sand tire textes off at the same time. Now I have two tires ready for painting textes, but I think, I make rest two ready to it first. Sanded and original tire One picture in the next post...
  18. Nicely done! This would look still better, but these bodies are fiberglass. So they are scratching, when hit and there comes no metal= silver under the paint. But that doesn't matter, nice car, I could not build that nice crashed car. Dale crashed in Daytona 500 about one week ago, not in the race but here is one video from it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wcImVm2Tgj4
  19. Nice Ford! And this is a great kit. Like the color on it, and paintjob is great. Also that engine looks great and I like the detailing all over, specially the grille looks good. Is it photoetch, or just black wash has turned out perfectly? Interior looks good too and wheels are great. Thank you for sharing.
  20. I had the same problem some time ago. Nick, you have shared too much pictures from your photobucket. We can see these pictures again, the day when you are joined to the photobucket. So if you are joined for example 13.5.2008, we can see the pictures again 13.3.2011, so in next month. Make a new, other photobucket account and you can post all of the coming WIP- and other pictures from there while that other one is in this point. I did that way. And then, both accounts are working again you can post some for example these '57 pics from the "old account", and some other model pictures from "new account". I don't have the same problem anymore, when I'm using two other accounts.
  21. Real nice Altered! I like the stance and wheels and tires are looking good too. Engine looks good (348 and 409 are my favorites ) detailing is very nice and engine color is very near original. I like that Cowl Bros picture on the door, but little minus comes from that paint- it would look better with glossy metallic paint, I think... Nice work with the interior too, it looks really autentic. I like this very much!
  22. I'm using this kind of air cleaner in my '65 Chevy Pickup... It's aftermarket, can't remember the manufacturer. But it looks good and if you want to, it can be polished of course, so it looks like polished aluminium, of course. But gluing that material needs super glue, liquid glue, like revell's doesn't work. Here are more pictures from it.
  23. Thanks, that hepls when building something from scratch...
  24. You can get a tube chassis from some kit, like Revell's '55 or '57 Chevy Pro Sportsman, Pro Stock models, FC and so on. It depends, what kind of tube chassis you need. I have this '63 Impala, and I built tube frame to it from brasstube, it turned out ok, I think, but I must add still more tubing there. Anyhow, it looks like this at the moment. Those revell's Pro Sportsman kits are very good basis, there are nice engines and the chassis is great, with changing the body everything looks good. Of course it needs bit more work to change the body, but... My dad is also building this kind of Buick Skyhawk: Chassis is from '55 Pro Sportsman Chevy
  25. Thank you again for the nice words! This kit is really worth buying and building, parts fit nicely to each other and so on. There are two bigger issues: Those two big black parts to chassis, protecting the frame and axles (don't know the name in enghlish) are very tricky to install, and body to the chassis is anything but easy. It fits fine for a test fit, but when it feels like now I put these together, I had big problems... But now I'm happy by the score, and next project is nearly finished.
