  1. If all goes as planed I will use mine for a Pace Paintbooth. I just hope my job will be Ok. Things are getting a little scary. The layoff virus is spreading around here.
  2. Looks great. I take it the kit has issues? I have this one, still in the box. What problems did you have, if any? Thanks for posting it. Build on! Ron
  3. I went there today with my 50% off coupon and they had the new Jada kits. all 4, so I got the Corvette kit. It was listed at $16.99 but after giving the coupon it was $8.49 + .66 tax total $9.15 I don't think I would buy kits at Michaels if it werent for the coupon. I just counted and I have 32 Corvette kits plus the one I,m working on. Is that too many? Ron
  4. Sell em on ebay. I've seen them sell for $10.00 sometime.
  5. I can understand the concern people are having, I too have questions about this. But also I'm torn between wanting to help and not knowing if it is legitimate. One question I have is, are the patients all boys, are there any girls? These diseases don't discriminate. I would be happy to donate some of the stuffed animals around the house for the girls and cars or Transformers toys for the boys, why did he only want Model cars? Yes, he is willing to buy the models, so that makes me think it is on the up and up. But I know most kids that age are not into model cars or Kits. If you ask 20 kids in that age group what things they like, I'm not sure there would be many or any that would want model cars. I'm not trying to rain on any parade, Its just my curiosity. also the fact that models are not ment to be played with, they fall apart with rough treatment. not too many youngsters want to put something on a shelf and leave it alone. I want to believe this is a worthy cause, I just need some kind of confirmation. Ron
  6. What?.... its only been 12 days since this was posted. and already the p.s.m.c.c. is history? sorry to here this.
  7. Only 6 months? looks really good, but the pics are too small for my old dried out eyes. try to post your pics in full size, so the old farts like me can see em. Great work and keep building Ron

Its not looking like a simi-curbside engine anymore, Nice addition of detail. I'm gonna need to see more of this build. Corvette's and Porsche's are my favorites. Ron
  9. Nice job, looks like you have been doing this for years. Welcome to Model Cars Mag. Forum. So whats the word about this kit? Looks like the AMT kit. what color and type of paint did you use? the color is great. Hope to see more of your builds. Thanks for posting this. Ron
  10. This looks like a nice kit. And i think your idea for color is a better choice than your clients. Post more progess pics if you can please, I want to see it when finished. Thanks Ron
  11. Nice start, what paint is that? its a great shade of blue. Do you do your painting on the roof? LOL...
  12. I picked up a quart size can of PPG DT 870 at a local paint jobber, and will be trying it out this weekend. Thanks much for the info on this subject Myles. The Wal-mart in my area still had some kustom kolor (HOK) paint sets. I picked up a classic colors assortment with 6 bottles of paint for $9.00. thats $1.50 each bottle. going back this weekend for the other set. can't beat the price. Thanks guys Ron
  13. Back in the 70's it was popular to have them Mud flaps on your muscle car. you can reproduce these with an aluminum soda can. just be careful cutting them up. other small parts are possible also. its like home made photo etch.
  14. Tenax-7r or testors liquid glue for bare plastic like engine halfs and parts that are 2 pieces to make one part, front and rear clips on the body. CA glue for some of the painted parts, engine wiring, and when different material is used for example metal to plastic glueing, like photoetch parts. white glue for window glass, clear headlights & red clear taillights. and for masking small areas before painting. I will often use tube glue also. Ambroid plastic cement is very good. Ron.
  15. Good start on this Jim, can't wait to see more progress. I might need to do mine like that, so keep posting progress pics please. BUILD ON. Ron
  16. Nice work there Zebm1, Good to have you back here. Good luck on the hip joint issue, I hope you will feel better soon and be rid of the pain you are suffering. Its not easy building models when you can't stay put very long. again, Good to have you back. I've missed your presents. The Wood
  17. That's like driving an hour to work each way!
  18. Good luck with your project Ken. Just don't use the Testors tube glue on it. And yes, post some wip pics.
  19. Thats a great way to keep someone from stealing your battery. I could imagine the look on there face when they quietly open the hood.
  20. Just put in $20 this evening, it was $3.99 and 9 tenths o' cent, Mid-grade. High octaine gas is over $4. so I dont get that anymore. JUST WAIT UNTIL SUMMER. I might have too vacation at the Wood resort this year.
  21. Even with the black background the caddy shows real nice. looks great, $200 huh.
  22. When I read the topic The Work Truck, I expected an old run down junker. Nice looking Dodge Ram and the trailer and 55 chevy set it off. good work on this set-up that I wish I had. Ron
  23. Hi David, I don't have the 68' Camaro kit but I have other AMT kits and most all of them can be built with those parts installed. But too make sure, just mock-up the build with some masking tape, then check the fit. Hope this helps. Good luck. Ron
  24. Electronic devices are loaded with useful stuff. circuit boards, use the resistors for fuel line filters. use the wire for under the hood, heater hose, radiator hose, battery cables. I recycle a lot of things, not only to use on models, but to use in making my models small containers for mixing paint and washes. plastic packageing for window glass, when I go to Chineese restaurant I get the chopsticks for doing chrome foil, or paint stirer. After awhile you just get a knack for finding things that are useful for modeling with or to use on a model. Use your imagination you can find lots of stuff. Ron
  25. What MRBIGGS said and look for the oil-less type of compressor. I got mine at Harbor Freight for about $75.00 including tax. 2.5 gallon Tank, 100 psi. and a bit loud when its running, but shuts down at 100 psi. and I can get a good wet coat or a couple of light coats on before it starts running again. The noise dont bother me because my neighbor is always running some kind of contraption, so when he is quiet, its my turn to make noise....LOL. good luck finding one. and dont rush it, shop around, these things usually go on sale this time of year. Ron
