  1. Hello customcreator, welcome to the MCM Forum. Your project is looking good with desert paint scheme. Did you use etching primer for your die cast? also you can make a whip antenna from wire. and one more thing, please put your real name in the signature area in your profile, because to me you are still lurking
  2. Hi Bub, I think if you change both front and rear tires it will look better. just not quite so wide all around. spark plug wires are a bit large.
  3. I think you should at least try to get a compressor and decent airbrush. Your results in the end will be well worth the extra $ I got my compressor at Harbor Freight Tools for $65. is 2.5 gallon tank and useful for other things around the house. (my selling point to my wife) My airbrush is a Badger 350 as a gift from my daughter. but you can get a starter set for around $50. So I would suggest to save your money for a good set-up, you will be much better off and happier in the long run. plus a set-up like this will last a long time. and the $30 dollar set-up you will eventually need to change anyway. this is just my opinion,
  4. Very nice that your wife built it with you. does she normally build kits or was this just a one time thing. I've tried to get my wife to do a kit, but maybe if I tell her we can do it together, hummmm. No I dought it.
  5. It would be simple to mask off the green stripe before adding the decals. measure twice cut once.
  6. Nice work Steve, when will this kit be in the hobby shops. when do I start looking for it.
  7. All it needs is some Hoppin Hydros 23" wheels. LOL
  8. No worrys about accuracy, Thy Revell Esclade? for chassis,
  9. That is sooo cool I'm starting to get this uncontrolable twich in my leg. Thank you, Thank you very much.
  10. Yep, made by 6 year olds at a nersery school
  11. I've heard about using Coka cola to strip chrome parts, but beer as a paint stripper? I guess it would be cheeper than that purple stuff. and maybe if you strain it afterward you can have it with some pretzels.
  12. Well Ed you have been officially inniciated into the forum. and by the way nobody gets old around here, they just get better. and Gregg, my april issue is missing page 65. can you send me that page, I just gotta see where do you get off saying...
  13. hey M408, If the chrome bumpers are messed up, just go for a simple fix. Its a monochrome paint job. bumpers and even grill painted body color. It can look really cool on 70s cars. I envy you, you said the thing you have most of is time, something I wish I could say. Good luck with your model building.
  14. Hello tyking, Welcome to the Model Cars Magazine Forums. Your asking for help, but I need a little more info. The 2 models that people made you get are fairly good models. Are you new to modelling? are these your first kits? what is your age? If you give me a little more to go on I will try to help you. If you are new to modelling you might want to try some of the Revell snap kits to start out with. I have been building for several years, and there are some snap kits that can look very nice with a little extra detailing. as for paint, you can get a set of basic colors from Testors. they come in a box with 8 enamel paints and 1 thinner and a paint brush. I got a box at Michaels crafts with a 50% off coupon. (a good deal.) and you need to get some spray primer. a can of wal-mart brand will cost about 1 dollar. you should use spray paint for most of your build, especially the car body. spray it on in very light mist coats, allowing about 15 minutes between coats until the body is fully colored, allow the paint ample time to completely cure (dry) at least 1 week. I could go on with more but I don't want to overload your circuits. If you are a beginner just take your time with it and look through the forum to pick up on the tips that are on this forums board, and you will be happy with your results. If you have more questions just throw them up here and you will get answers. everyone here are very willing to help. Just give us enough information to help you with your questions. Good luck and keep building. Reguards Ron.
  15. Oh yea, I wanted to get some of that paint and decant it and use it in that new fangled "Cordless airbrush" by the same "manufacturer" SCALE AEROSOL PAINTS-Airbrush division. You guys (Greg & Jairus) crack me up. you two have a great since of humor. But me thinks Jairus was the culprit of this one. so sledwood you were had. now you must return the favor, next April 1, 2008 you will have to post an April fools joke of your own. so start thinking about a good one. and please don't take it personal, I was taken by the joke too. then I realized it was the April issue.(past experience) and I got a big kick out of it. Sometime Im so Gullible.
  16. Hey Bill, just wondering what project are you going to use the Daytons for?
  17. Hey Bill, if you need a business or web adress let me know. I have it at home.
  18. Hello Bill, and yes I believe he is still in the aftermarket biz. The Daytons your refuring to were at the show. he had a few sets for sale, and if I knew you wanted some I would have grabed them for you.
