  1. The 72" cab had a very narrow bunk but probably best not to call it a sleeper. Those were pretty cool looking, barely enough room to keep a lunchbox and thermos.
  2. Have you tried any of the other tips ? Sounds like the tip may be plugged or your paint is to thick. Try using straight alcohol or thinner if you already haven't. Still no flow - tip needs to be cleaned. Tips are easily cleaned by unscrewing them, soaking in a choice of thinner, disassemble - clean the needle, spring, twist a small piece of paper towel like viva (does not fall apart) clean out the needle & spring barrel use a thinner saturated q-tip to clean the barrel housing and inside of a/b. The Aztek is my favorite a/b I grab for more then my real high dollar ones.
  3. John - I might do that for my next Pete. I have really taken a liking to these kits. Never built one even as a teen 30 some years ago. My buddy was a Pete fanatic so I stayed clear of the kits to let him have the thunder. This is the paint scheme I have planned for the one I am working on even though this is an older cab. Random pic found using Internet Search. Hoss - thanks for the info on that 60" sleeper !
  4. That looks awesome with the Wilson Trailer. I sure would hate to drop the coin to fill those fuel tanks. I did not attach the shift tower on mine till the last step. After the cab was mounted I taped the assembly to the bottom of the floor , lowered the cab . Grabbed a small paintbrush with a small amount of liquid cement and attached it to the frame mount. Perfect lineup and fit. Used a pair of tweezers to remove the helper tape and all was good.
  5. I agree with you on the narrow window being the best looking. I am saving it for something special (dont know what yet) . The one I am working on is coming along pretty well. The engine had been poorly assembled and a glue bomb. Spent several days cutting it apart and cleaning off the yellow hard glue. I wish I had taken a pic of it, but I had a spare one so if that one had not worked out it would of hit the trash. But I was able to save it, had to make a complete water pump drive belt assembly and a few other parts but all is good. The rest of the kit was untouched. Also moved the step on the fender up higher as mentioned above.
  6. That would be a "Mercury Sleeper" which were used an many different truck makes back in the day.
  7. Yikes those tires, looks like they used a meat cleaver to chop them out. I preferred back in the day when you cut your own "spider" out. Other then that it looks like a super kit. I might pick up a few for the spoked wheels.
  8. I still have one of those
  9. I will build vintage kits any day . Most of my modeling has been vintage kits - Airfix, Aurora , Matchbox. Decals may be brittle, but dull coat or a coat of clear can save the day. Scratched glass ? I can only name a few kits I have bought that has the clear separate from the main bag of parts. Brittle plastic - guess I am just use to it . I would take it any day over the soft china plastic that reminds of my Rubbermaid trash can. Chrome - never liked it, I have bought more easy off for using on models then the kitchen. I am old school and love the older kits. Nothing beats a sealed kit form the 70's - when you break that shrink wrap and let that air out , you have just traveled back in time when you inhaled have that vintage air.
  10. This is the box the small window /Detroit came in . The cab is also shorter, only maybe a scale inch below the door. *possibility the box may have been replaced at one time * The kit I am working on now
  11. I traded for three of these kits, but only one is the early version with the Detroit and it has a smaller back window also. Which I think is way cooler then the later versions. I just learned from Tim that the step is wrong and should be higher up on the fender - about 3-4 scale inches. It lines up with the internal bracket on the real fender. The kit has it at the bottom. When you going to start on yours ?
  12. Wow - that is a stretch. What is the length from end to end ? Looking really good ,this will be a fun one to watch.
  13. Thanks Hoss, I should of known you would be of assistance. This is the gap I am referring to. I am going to go ahead and fill it with a strip of styrene.
  14. I have been looking at this kit on the bench now for several days. I am hitting a stumbling block on attaching the fenders to the hood. The hood has that nice groove for them. If you position the fender all the way to the front groove it does not fit right due to the step up on the rear of the fender. If you position to where it is level there is about a .030" gap. So you guys that have built this kit what did you do about this, have the gap and fill it with a strip of styrene or did you eave the gap , Or remove some material off the step up to where it fits flush against the hood sides ?
  15. That was pretty funny, you could see some of those people losing air that was waiting.
  16. I got about 7 or 8 looking for a new home, drop me a p/m
  17. Here is the build where KJ used the Snap 8 bag http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=82662
  18. I really like the paint scheme. Great looking truck.
  19. Doesn't the Revell "Snap" KW come with an 8 Bag set up ? If so that would be more affordable.
  20. Wow - that is a beauty. Your engine detail work is amazing. Nice color combination also. I have a 359 Cali Hauler in progress and I was also thinking of using a color similar to your top color also. If I was to wait for a nice day to take pics outside that would be sometime in June here
  21. That is one tough looking truck. I cant believe you did this in two weeks Very nicely done. I sure wouldn't want to see this in my rear view mirror , more menacing then a rust colored Pete !
  22. Great looking truck, very clean and sharp details !
  23. Wow, I never knew that. Thanks for sharing this.
  24. John - That is one Beautiful truck. The color combination is Great. The outside pics really bring out the colors and detail. Don't feel bad about the cab locks - The instructions show them that way.
  25. So Smoooth , Wow ! I really like the "radar detector" did you scratch build that ?
