69 pro mod chevelle, chassis started mock ups
Mooneyzs replied to mr68gts's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Paul... looking good my friend. Nice progress on this. I experimented a while back where i anneled some brass tubing by heating it up with a torch nd it made it way easier to bend. Wish I would of done this back when I made the headers for the F/C. I can't wait to see more of this brass chassis. Keep up the stellar work. -

Cleaning lacquer from an airbrush
Mooneyzs replied to Jaguar man 21's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have a Badger Model 200 that's 20 to 25 years old and I always clean my airbrushes with Lacquer thinner. I have never had an issue with spraying Lacquer thinner thru them. I will tell you one time I broke my airbrush down and basically soaked the parts in lacquer thinner and well letting it soak for quite sometime made the seal in the body swell and I ended up having to send the air brush to badger and they put a new seal in it. I learned my lesson once doing that. Now when I spray I always have one jar with lacquer thinner in it and when I am done spraying a coat of paint I will spray lacquer thinner thru it to clean it so that I don't get paint drying in it between coats. Then when I am done with all of my spraying I will do a little more thorough cleaning. I will spray lacquer thinner thru it a few times until i see no more color or metallic in the thinner and then I will pull the needle and wipe it down with lacquer thinner as well as taking the head off and soaking it in a cup of lacquer thinner. The Teflon seal on the head I don't soak I will just wipe it with a towel that I put lacquer thinner on. I have been doing this for over 20 years with my airbrush with really no problems at all. Also a majority of paints I spray thru my airbrush are automotive paints. -
Bill... Thanks for linking my post in the drag section. Looks like I need to update some of the pics since the whole photobucket crapola... Here is the chart that I made for the Braided line. My personal preference for braidied line is Pro-Tech, I personally think you will not find anything better or look more realistic than it. It looks just like the real thing.

Tim... that looks killer with the Spill plates. It makes it look just right. Now I love the shot of the update with the tire in place. It gives it a great idea of what things lookalike together and I gotta tell you this thing is looking Bad A$$!! Loving it my friend

Tim... Man does that look good. I love what you have done with the wing. Did you machine the profile of the wing?? It looks great. The Paint looks great too. So glad to see an update on this Bad A$$ Build. It put a smile on my face since I am going thru some issues at home. Thank you my friend. Love your work

Stephen.... thank you very much. I believe I used the green Zap-A-Gap for them. Sometimes I use Plastic-zap as well. Dave... thanks brother!! It happens right? Not the first set back for me...lol. I am working on getting it fixed. Oh I remember the six million dollar man... and how about bionic woman...lol. I just want to get this build finished and off my plate so I can have some fun with some other builds. -
Tim... awesome work my friend. You sure aren't missing any of the details that's for sure. And as Dave mentioned, I still have a hard time realizing that this is 1/25th scale...lol. keep up the killer work and I can't wait to see your next update.

Yes, the Tamiya bB kits is a curbside. Very cool with the opening doors. I was lucky enough to find another Tamiy kit that had the same wheels that I have on my xB. Although I wished that Tamiya would of added the spoiler in the kit. Guess I will have to scratch build one....lol.

Art... those interior components are looking killer. You are hitting it out of the park and lobe the details you are putting into it. Love your work!

Brizio... this is going to be a killer build and I will be following along. I have a couple of the Tamiya bB kits and I plan to build one just like my 1:1 xB that is my daily driver
