This is very cool and looking great. Love the Gasser look with this. Keep up the great work!

Tim... interior is looking great man!! Can't wait to see more of this build. Your best bet for pictures is to get a Photobucket account which is free and upload your pics there and you can add the link to them to show here. Its what I do and its pretty easy to copy the code and paste it in the threads here.

Very cool Pictures, Thanks for sharing

I personally use SolidWorks..... Another one out there is Solid Edge which is similar to solidworks. but both you have to pay for. You could look into student editions but may be limited to functions you can do and I just checked on SolidWorks and its 99 bucks and its only a 12 month licence. As others have mentioned Google Sketch up is free and I am sure there are other free ones. If I can think of others I will let you know, I am drawing a blank right now. Here is a shot of some disk brakes I was drawing up in SolidWorks for a funny car build I am currently working on..

John... That transmission looks great love all of the detail. what did you use for the blanket and for the seams of the blanket too? I can't wait to see more pics of this build.

So I didn't get any building done on this project tonight but I did tinker around on my CAD software trying to figure out a design for the rear hubs that I should go with. Here are a few Ideas. Let me know what you think. I am also thinking of tapering the hub as an idea. Here you go..... -
Derrick... That chassis is amazing and looks great man. You have done one heck of a job. 2 thumbs up! what glue you using for your styrene? where did you get the jack stands those are cool

Airbrush vs Spray Cans
Mooneyzs replied to MILD's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I couldn't agree more with Virgil here. I myself used to use rattle cans (testors paint) for paint jobs years ago. I then picked up an air brush (a Badger model 200 which I still have to this day from over 15 years ago) and was using the bottled testors paint. I had some friends back home who were like family to me, turn me onto using automotive paints from the simple fact that the color choice was endless like Virgil said above. It does take some getting used to and a little bit of money to invest in your reducers, hardner and clear. But to me in the long run it is not as expensive as you would think. I personally use PPG DBC base coat and their clear coat as well as House of Kolor Air Brush bottles (4 oz sided bottles). most recently I have been turned onto PPG Omni Plus line which is a step or so below the DBC but cost is less as well. Any way depending on the color and if I am going to use for multiple builds I will have them mixed up in either a touch up bottle (which is like 3/4 oz), a 1/2 pint or a pint. The local PPG shop I go to charges about 8 or 10 bucks for the touch up bottle to about 30 bucks for a pint depending on the color, toners and pearls that are used to make the paint. Quick example of the price. If you take a look at my thread on my 1/16th scale Front Engine Dratster over in the drag racing section. the purple I have used there for a pint of the PPG DBC they wanted about $90.00 due to the different pearls used in it. I ended up getting a pint of it in the PPG Omni line and it was only $28.00. I would say once you get used to using it, I don't think you would want to go back to rattle cans from the simple fact that you get a better result in my opinion with the paint. Also on another note I also use a Devilbiss Mini HPLV detail gun to shoot my models as well. all depends on how much paint I am mixing up to spray. Hopefully my post was helpful -

Thank you brett. I am hoping to possible have this one completed in the next month or month and half or so. but I will try to hit my goal of having decals laid down and final clear coats by the end of next weekend. -
Brett & Jim.... Thank you guys for the nice words on this build. I am very happy with the final results with this build. I sometimes wish I would of put a little more detail in it but with it being started many years ago I couldnt' be happier with the results. I have some future plans of doing another super comp car but this time it will be a super comp dragster (which I have had in the back of my mind for years about doing) and will have more detail and scrratch building the frame but before I get to that build I have some of my others I will be focusing on well unless I get that itch to start another kit in the process of working on a my others.... what modeler doesn't have enough kits started

Thanks Derrick, once I get the blower pulleys drawn up I will post some 3D images of the pulleys for sure. You know I wasn't totally sure what type of glue I was going to use on the brakes. I was going to paint the center section which was scratch built with a dark model master metalizer I think. I was thinking of maybe trying future floor wax. Charlie from Pro tech was telling me how he uses future to attach photo etch pieces. in the past I have used 5 mins epoxy, model master brushable clear and micro scale krystal klear, and CA glue (but CA has a tendancy of fogging the parts, so probably won't use that). Thanks for the pic of the glue, now I know what to look for and looks like I will be making a trip to the dollar store soon.... -
I have used Ammonia and it removes it quite fast. I tested it and it removed the chrome withing 10-15 mins. I need to try and leave it longer to see if it gets rid of clear lacquer coat.

Rodger, thanks man..... I was able to finish up all of the drilling on the disk brakes. The only thing I have left on them is to paint the center sections and then glue the photo-etch pieces on. any way here are a couple of pics.... -
You are making good progress. I love the direction of where you are going with the body. I love that cowl piece on the hood, Looks awesome. That is some skill you have with scratch building the engine, It's impressive my friend.
