  1. Hey MJ.......That's a GREAT looking conversion!! 8)
  2. If this is for a contest or show.......I strongly recommend you send them out to be plated. Alclad is good stuff............but nothing replaces actual chrome. You first need to spray a few coats of enamel black on the part, let it dry thoroughly (a dehydrator helps!) and then airbrush very light coats of Alclad Chrome on the part. I would airbrush light mist coats.......because if you put it on too heavy, it will look like dull aluminum and not chrome. I wouldn't recommend clearcoating as this can dull the chrome to a degree. As with anything.......if you handle Aclad too much.......it can rub off eventually as has been my experience. Actually, the end result is not like plated chrome.............but like highly polished aluminum. It's fine for shelf models.....but as I mentioned above, if your building for a contest, having them chromed is the way to go. Hope this helps!
  3. Look at all those nice buildups...............and room to boot! I envy you........I need to put some more shelves in my workroom!
  4. Yeah, I'm learning that as I go along with this '59 Buick. One of the more difficult things with resin is replacing trim that may have been accidentally sanded away. I think I have found a cure for that though! Actually, months ago, I had started on one of Lemans Miniatures resin kits............the '69 Lemans winner GT-40. I gave up on it due to the resin not "behaving". The body (particularly the doors) was warped, but since building the Buick, I have figured out how to straighten body panels and have them "stay put". 8)
  5. Nice models..............and I really dig that Cobra!!
  6. Resin Body?? You're a braver man than I! I've been doin' fine! I've been working on a '59 Buick resin which is somewhere in the list of topics......... Here's the addy if you want to check it out..... http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=524 I may be posting new pics of the interior later today.........it's takin' awhile due to fabricating a whole new interior because the Modelhaus one is just too incorrect. No slam at Don and the gang............he only repopped what was part of the original Craftsman kit. Look forward to seein' more of that '60 Ford!
  7. Comin' along great MJ! That's how the doors should open on a '60 Ford...........you're doin' great there! Where'd the wagon body come from? Is that an old Hubley kit?
  8. Thanks so much for the pics Dave!! I went to your album and saved all the pics of that car! I just got in the mail yesterday, R&R's resin model of a '58 Olds Wagon, and those pics will come in handy! That's a RARE bird if I might say so myself! I dont remember seeing too many of those as a kid.
  9. Now that is slick! Comin' along real nice there!
  10. Yes, I do have one of Harold's Cobra Daytonas...............and it is nice!! It's based on the Gunze kit...........and Harold took steps to make the assembly easier than the old Gunze one. Not to mention full engine detail, and some reference pics to makes things easier!
  11. Oooooooh I love that car! ........and that color is beeeyoooootifulll!! Too bad I may never be able to afford one let alone be able to insure it!
  12. Hi Terry! Glad you made it over............and you'll definitely like it here! Your post won't get deleted here because of asking a simple question about ones "future kit collection"!
  13. Wow, that's pretty cool! Reminds me of a Hot Wheel I had as a kid years ago! I've got a Tom Daniel Sand Crab which is in dire need of a resto...........I should try to rescue that one sometime!
  14. OOOOOOOHH Beautiful flames!! Beautiful car!! Excellent job Len!!
  15. Welcome Dave! This is a pretty cool place to be...........come back often!
  16. Looks great Bobby! I like the black out hood treatment.........gives it a tough street fighter look! 8) After I finish the '59 Buick (in the next month or so) that'll be the next car I'll work on. Mine will be an '05.......due to the paint I'm gonna use-----Sonic Blue with Silver Stripes.
  17. Art, that is just too cool! That would look so neat behind say..........a 1958 Oldsmobile Fiesta wagon! 8)
  18. Ditto that Ken! We don't want to appear cliqueish here!
  19. Welcome Ken! Glad you finally made it over! No BS here.........no censoring of bad kit problems.......no trolls........just a nice place!
  20. Those wheels look great George!! As far as pics here...........some sites will not let you link to other sites, thus the reason they may not be showing up here. You may have to put them on Fotki or something and link them from there.
