Everyone Bring In Their Brass Monkeys???
HomerS replied to OldTrucker's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
An area animal shelter posted on Facebook (when the temps went below zero with wind chills -35 for a few days) if the residents leave animals outside without proper shelter, they would take the animal! I saw them yesterday and went over to thank them for someone stepping up for these animals. They said that most residents took the warning but some still did not and had to take some, including a badly frostbitten cat. -
This weekend is My Furry Valentine. It's a massive animal adoption event at the convention center of rescues and shelters throughout the area showcasing some 800 plus animals looking for a home. Some shelters host satellite adoption events as well. Leaving work early tomorrow to help a couple rescues set up and working one of the booths on Sunday. The wife was suppose to come up but the polar extremes in the weather lately has her not feeling well. She SAID it was to help but I told I thought it was to ensure I didn't come home with dog number 5.

I always liked the Simpsons and as I grew older, I see myself growing into his form. My favorite Homer line......just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand! Kinda my life mantra

Everyone Bring In Their Brass Monkeys???
HomerS replied to OldTrucker's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
At -5 this morning, the remote start refused to do so. It worked yesterday at the milder 1 degree above zero. I learned last week that my G8 remote start will shut off the engine after about ten minutes. I went out the night before and set the desired temp at 80 degrees and cranked the fan. The next morning, I hit the remote start and was expecting it to be mildly tropical when I went out to take my son to school. We walked out and the car was off. He asked if I hit the remote start and I confirmed I did. It wasn't the Margaritaville like I was hoping for. No!! Leave it run until it hits the desired temp or it drains the 18 gallon tank. -
Everyone Bring In Their Brass Monkeys???

My deck pops when the temps get this low. Scares the heck out of the dogs. There's regular popping sounds in the house no matter the weather.....it's my 53 year old knees and ankles -
Everyone Bring In Their Brass Monkeys???

One of my foursome was a shelter surrender when she and three others were left out in freezing temperatures with no shelter and frozen water bowls. Five years later, when the temps get below freezing, she still remembers that time and never leaves my side. -

I would like a 'draft beer morning after' as they tend to sound like a higher degree of moisture content......a.k.a., the shart

Yeah, that's why I have four rescue. Everytime I go volunteer, the wife is worried #5 could be in the car.

Two inches of rain today, up to eight inches of snow starting around 5p today and then temps Sunday night 0 to -5. That's okay I have my draft doggie in place to keep the cold air out. Okay it's actually 70 pounds of husky/mix that got too hot sleeping/hogging the couch so he went over to the tiled entry and roached....and snoring!

My sons school is updating their illness notification system in an effort to minimize the spread of flu so they sent out the text below to all parents. The wife said I'm not to use phrases like Larry the Cable Guy of 'pooping through a screen door and not hitting a wire' or spewing chunks like The Exorcist......If they don't wanna know, don't ask for the details! I miss the good old day of "Joey is sick....call if you have questions' We are in contact with the ****** County Public Health Department to track illnesses that are going around in our area, including the flu. When calling the attendance line, please leave detailed information as to the reason for your student’s absence. It is very important for us to have accurate information in order to track illnesses. Flu-like symptoms include: fever and chills, cough, headache, body aches, sore throat

Call your insurance company and see if they offer roadside assistance that can be added to your policy. I ditched AAA years ago as it was far more expensive and after they damage my car (tow truck driver made a U-turn over a center island and damaged the lower front valance panel....they eventually paid for the repair). I know Safeco and Progressive offer it.

Should be here next week. Opened but sealed inside for slightly more than retail on a Round2 kit. I've heard rumors that the stock truck with the standard bed is under development but like their Demon and the Vega kits, I'll believe it when it's in my fat little fingers. (Pic plagiarized from eBay)

Earlier this week, I never thought I would hear of possible delay for a certificate of occupancy (possibly delay inspectors) for one of our stores in Alamagordo, NM.....60 miles from the Mexican border
