Their reunion tour was one of the last concerts I went to. Great show!! (Combination of life a.k.a kids and ticket prices closing in on a car payment stopped my concert attendance)

The Cincinnati Reds are bringing back the manager under another one yer contract! They are currently 19 games under .500 and 266-355 under this Manager. Glad my tax dollars are paying for this stadium.

I was planning to go to the show in Indiana the same date..... Anyone been to this show in the past?

I usually hit the local thrift stores for animal crates (donate to rural shelters) and other miscellaneous oddities. This afternoon, this was sitting near the front of the store and all I could think was "someone really was an organ donor".

I wasn't looking for a head on a platter but I expected more of an investigation than I get from my ten year old looking for his school backpack that he just stepped over.

This is why people don't take the time to get involved!!!!!!!!! My father's nursing home violated HIPAA when they told his brothers that he had passed away. I explicitly told the administration NO ONE is to be told but they spilled the beans less than 24 hours after this directive. I filed a complaint with the Department of Health & Human Services who took their time before reaching out asking for me to prove I was Dad's care giver so I e-mailed the POA. In less than a week I received a letter today that they 'investigated' and determined there was a violation but will defer to the nursing home's to resolve the matter through their technical resistance. So basically their own system breaks down to allow them to violate Federal law and they get to investigate themselves? Seriously??? It was noted if another violation comes up at this home, it MAY get investigated. WTH....are they on double secret probation like the movie Animal House???

Did they get another round of shipment? One store in town got Ed Roth Surfite kits and one out of down (Dayton) got Dodge L700 tanker kits?

I bought one at the Louisville show but its missing both the 440 and the 390. Any suggestions for currently available 'close enough' of either engine?

Went to the Ohio Valley show in Louisville today....came home with more projects that i didn't need. Great show especially for a first year! When the organizer had to give up the table at the entrance to accommodate more show entries, it was a good show! I buy towels, blankets and pet carriers at thrift stores and garage sales to donate when I got out of town to shows either near the show or a rural area along the way in communities that down. The KY Humane Society was hosting an off site adoption event at the Dixie Feeder less than a mile away so for those saw all that odd stuff in the back of the Pontiac G8, that was its destination. I do that in the name of my two dogs who have passed and the four rescues who are spoiled rotten.

They usually get the shipment just in time for Christmas and have just a handful left by New Years. Last year, I got the blue Challenger Concept, yellow Ford GT and the snakeskin green VIper. They raised the price but still less than $14!

We haven't had a membership for several years but re-upped late last year. I knew they got a shipment of 1/18 Maisto's around Thanksgiving but we were at a local store today and they have two large boxes. Was kinda hoping for the Ford GT but both boxes were well picked.

Blunc.... I sent it back noting the date he died. Let them look it up or if they cite him for contempt I will give them the cemetery address. I got out of jury duty about four years ago when I was dad's sole caregiver and listed his meds, Dr notes and all his personal info. One would have thought they would have taken him out of the system at that time. What's scary is when his Dementia progressed to the point he was no longer able to care for himself two years ago, he still had a valid CCW.

My tax dollars at work! Personal.....My father got a summons for jury duty today. He passed away almost a month ago. I know Hamilton County, OH runs the jury selection through the drivers license data base (although dad hasn't had a license for at least seven years) but they might want to run it against the database to ensure they are calling living people to serve. The same county issued the death certificate three weeks ago. Professional.....Working with a commercial landlord to renew a lease for one of our stores in the Chicago area but the State has our entity as not in good standing. The senior counsel called the Secretary of State for Illinois and they admitted that they are at least a month behind processing annual reports that were due by June 1st.

Over the top ads in post!!
HomerS replied to Day 2 Muscle's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Mine has an ad for camping trailers. My version of roughing it is a Hyatt! I'm going to assume that my wife was using my laptop as she has a smaller camping trailer. -
Thank you to everyone who read my rants and the kind words. I know we all gotta go through it but it doesn't make any easier at that time. While I'm meeting with my Pastor to finalize things, the offending brother sent a text 1) calling me 'dear nephew' which he has NEVER done, always by name and 2) sent an apology with the sincerity of a $0.99 greeting card for 'whatever I did wrong or to upset up'. Really? I texted him and said I wasn't mad, just disappointed in all of them for not stepping up when they needed to. They are the ones that have to live with their decision. As for the Kim K moment, he admitted he didn't think before he sent it. It was civil at the funeral home as we just talked about the video of the pics my oldest was able to find of Dad growing up through the years. The fiancee never did approach me or the wife to express condolences so needless to say....I won't be attending the wedding. One last rant. Because there are so few young people playing an instrument anymore, for TAPS, it's acceptable to have a prerecorded version play through a device in the trumpet itself. It had the quality of AM radio. Sad...just....sad. My Pastor offered as she plays the trumpet and had I known they would do this, I would have accepted her offer. Watching the two guards fold the flag is such an art. I probably broke protocol but I thanked both of them and shoot their hands before dad was pulled from the hearse.

My 80 year old father lost his battle against Dementia tonight. The last two year he has been in a nursing home as the disease robbed him of his self sufficient independence. My mom past Memorial Day weekend eight years ago of a stroke. WARNING....Two rants forthcoming so feel free to bail out now! 1) Dad spent 7.5 year in the Air Force including deployment to Germany during the construction of the Berlin Wall. Dad didn't qualify for many VA benefits as he went in four months too late to qualify for benefits under Korea and got out six months too early (starting his family) to qualify under Vietnam. Not to diminish those who served in those conflicts (!) but the VA doesn't consider his deployment as hostile so he doesn't qualify many benefits including the local VA nursing home 2) This one was the final insult! I reached out to Dad's brothers (who all live local) that the end was near and they needed to come say their goodbyes. Not only did NONE of them show up, one of them replied back with an invite to HIS second wedding in a month. Really? Isn't that kind of a Kardashian moment thinking of himself?? Thank you Dad.....and thank you for your service

Cincinnati Challenge Model swap meet and contest
HomerS replied to gtx6970's topic in Model Club News and Announcements
I'll be there but the wife is more nervous I will come home with another dog. This guy came home with me after the show last year from the Clermont County Shelter. -
The local pet food pantry had to relocate as their current space (which was donated) ended up with a paying tenant so it had to move to another location about a mile away. I took my ten year old son with me and I truly expected him to be off to the side playing on his phone. Nope....he was right in there with the rest of us filling bins, helping load/unload the box truck, rolling food into the new space and getting all set up. Needless to Dad is very proud tonight!

I go by what they sold for on eBay as their value. Years ago, I had some that i knew I would never build so I reached out to a couple ads in the back of that other model car magazine. I was specific...no calls. Two of the four reached out thinking they could get the bargain (sorry if you can't honor my request we won't be conducting business) with both offering a whopping an average of $8 per kit. I ended up going the eBay route and the lowest one sold for $30. If there is an antique mall in your area, see if there's a vendor there that would be interested or swapping for something else you want. I've traded off a few kits for sports team-issued bobbleheads. Be careful as some of these vendors are just as bad thinking they will buy them for about 25% of their value.
