  1. There are different methods of achieving the desired result and sometimes the method chosen was not the correct one for that job so being a bit of a perfectionist means scrapping it and starting over or backing up a bit and giving it a re-think and maybe re-doing some part of the process in a different way. The perfect method does not always present itself immediately so the project has to be left to simmer for a while!
  2. Looks like he ate too many squigs!
  3. Needs a speed-freak and a couple a grot riggers!
  4. Greg, don't do it! It may be the worst kit ever. There is nothing interior that you can use. To make a decent model you are going to use about a dozen parts and scratch build the rest. Get rid of it and get yourself a Trumpeter version and save yourself a lot of grief (If you are determined I will see if I still have the instructions). Everything you see inside this beast was scratch built and with that huge canopy you have to do something with it.
  5. Look at the construction, I don't think that they make boats like that anymore.
  6. I do most of my building at 'work' so it depends on how busy it gets, some days I have lots of time to build!
  7. When I was around nine or ten my oldman and I built a dresser/workbench, 1 1/2' x 8' with eight drawers, for my bedroom. I still have it but now it is in the wife's craftroom!
  8. Just a friend, his father runs the toy store across the street.
  9. Nolan, nine years old, likes sci-fi modeling, just visible lower left in my pic.
  10. I just want to give a tip of the hat to all you guys that actualy BUILD plastic model cars! My little buddy came over yesterday so that we could start a new model but this time it was a model car that he had been given, the Johnny Lightning '55 Nomad. I couldn't keep up cleaning the parts of flash so that he could glue them together and then the destruction of the chrome removing the stubs won't be mentioned. The work involved just building this thing out of the box is unbelievable never mind adding anything. I don't remember building a model car being such a chore. Again, my hat's off to all you guys that turn out the fantastic looking builds that you do!
  11. I think it is, including the sliding door.
  12. '37 Ford (close!).
  13. I like your use of figures, even though they are 'generic' they give a good sense of scale.
  14. This might be a project for someone to tackle?
  15. We had a great summer day for our annual Sleepy Hollow car show today. Close to 300 vehicles on the street. I posted a whack of general pics here, the few that were not deleted are now in the 1:1 section.
  16. I go with the 'snap-shot' of a moment in time, more interesting if it 'tells a story' but it does not have to. It is sort of like looking at a painting, the viewer brings something to the equation.
  17. Beeutious!
  18. Just looked at the chassis shots, NOW I am impressed!
  19. Hey, John, I can't add anything to what has not already been said, just hang in there buddy.
  20. Checked out a variety of American Muscle and others, looks like the same old silver paint, a shinier grade of silver paint and whole sections chromed and masked off and then painted the car colour.
  21. I have never seen anything that didn't look like silver paint. I will have to check out some new product tomorrow.
  22. Nice work, Cliff.
  23. I do a BBQ salmon that is to die for (sound of personal horn blowing in the background!). My parents taught me to look after myself including how to cook. I live by words from Graham Kerr, 'You have to eat it so you may as well put the effort into making it edible.' and 'If wine is not fit to drink it is not fit to cook with!'
  24. do do do do, do do do do, you are entering another dimension...
