  1. I'm not quite sure what your point here is ???
  2. Don't just blame the scantioning bodies, it's the corperate sponsers. If Nascar didn't have Sprint (and before that Nextel and Winson) they wouldn't be where they are at, same for NHRA and Poweraide (Coca-cola Co.), Grand-Am has Rolex, Indy Car would be dead if not for Izod. Who is the title sponser for ALMS ??? What about SCCA ??? See what I mean ??? After I posted I checked and Tequila Patron is the title sponser, still, not the same as Sprint, Coca-cola, Izod, or Rolex.
  3. It looks good in the pictures and I'm sure it looks better in person. Like everything it takes practice (and NEW blades....lol.) It's been a while since I looked at one of those bodies but I think the trim on top of the rear quarters should be chrome too (more practice). Keep building, this Pontiac is gonna turn out nice.
  4. No, Trevor won't get any point for the win, the Wood Bros will though. Trevor isn't running the full Cup schedule but he is running the full Nationwide schedule. You can't transfer points between the two. It wasn't the best 500 I've ever seen but it was one of the best finishes.
  5. Congradulations to Trevor Bayne and the Wood Brothers on winning the 53rd Daytona 500.
  6. If you're happy with the way your 62 is going now it will only get better with BMF. Once you've added it to your first model you won't believe how much it improves the overall result. Many people complain about BMFing but I actually enjoy it. Go solw, use NEW blades (can't stress that enough), Q-tips and toothpicks help get it smoothed out and into the small areas, use NEW blades, and if the BMF starts to tear when you cut it on the model or on the sheet......use a NEW blade. It really isn't any harder than decaling a model. Repeat after me.....go slow, use NEW blades.... And the Pontiac is looking good so far.
  7. Yeah, but it's more fun to watch a Chevy burn.
  8. That's why drag cars have an electrical kill switch on the rear of the car.
  9. Didn't Jack retire last year ??? I seem to remember reporting that.........and isn't Boris a Nascar driver ???
  10. I used to work for a art gallerie framing pictures, I would occasionally get sheets of styrene when we would get plexiglass shipments........and all my masking take was free. I also use to get razor blades, wire, and other stuff I have used for modeling.
  11. Anybody who puts a blower and sidepipes on a Vette probably sent the video to his insurance agent with his claim........so I doubt they will be paying.
  12. I'm pretty sure my wife doesn't know who he is..........I don't even know who my wife is, I'm not married........
  13. Last year I was doing a weekly podcast covering all forms of racing, Nascar, NHRA, Grand-Am, ALMS, and F-1. Even after covering those series I couldn't name 1 driver in ALMS right now. It's really easy to claim that your series is the fastest growing when you have small numbers of fans. If ALMS adds 1000 viewers, that is probably a few %, if Nascar or NHRA adds 1000 viewers, it is hardly a fraction of a %.
  14. I have several X-acto and Excel #1 (thin) handles that I use with #11 blades, I have found that the #2 handle (fat one) is great for mini drill bits. Last year a friend got me a set from Home Depot and I hate to say it but I haven't used it yet........
  15. Someone needs to explain "burnout" contest to this guy........ http://www.bing.com/videos/watch/video/corvette-bursts-into-flames/1jrcwynu3?q=Corvette&rel=msn&from=en-us_msnhp&form=msnrll&gt1=42010
  16. Model Empire is just a few blocks away from the Milwaukee Mile race track, that would be the first place to go. If you can get to Chicago I could let you in on some of my favorite hobby shops.
  17. How is it that nobody has mentioned the Renwal/Revell visable V-8 yet ???
  18. A few more clear body kits: AMT Don Garlits F/E dragster, Polar Lights Charger and Barracuda Funny Cars, (they might have done the Mustang too....not sure), MPC 72 Nascar Pontiac GTO. I wouldn't expect the 1/16 Petty Charger reissue until at least this time next year. The 1/16 Dukes kit is listed on their website as a Feb 2011 release and it's not out yet.
  19. For race car kits and modern cars that have little to no chrome I have no problem. A 50's or 60's car is a different story, I would want chrome there.
  20. A recient example is the rear seat brace on the Revell 68/69 Charger and 69 Daytona kits. Unless you leave out the rear seat you'll never know it's there. I just kinda scratched my head when I saw that the first time.
  21. Only if I have the rest of the Hudson to go with it........
  22. The Monogram kit is very different and does not have the seperate chrome trim and can not be built stock.
  23. I pointed out this war was starting over a week and a half ago........... http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=40625
  24. Pretty much where ever Testors paint is sold.........
  25. Me too, no Mopars, no intrest........
