  1. No Protillo's that far north Jim, you'll have to settle for The Brat Stop......
  2. Is the body coming to me for BMF after Billy finishes painting or will I be getting it at a later stage in the build?
  3. The Lindberg A-100 does not have a Slant 6, just a Hemi and a 273. The Deora kit does have a Slant 6 but it is not chrome.
  4. Neil would probably say...."Did the check clear?"
  5. No, its definitely not a Chevy block.....The crank case extends down below the centerline of the crankshaft like a B/RB/Hemi Chrysler engine. It might be a Chevy oil pan though. The block, heads, valve covers, and distributor look like parts from a JoHan Funny Car (ie: Challenger, Ram Rod/ Gene Snow kit), the oil pan and timing cover look like Chevy parts, the intake looks like its from an MPC kit possibly for a SOHC Ford engine. All that stuff would never bolt together in 1:1 scale but in plastic it can and seem to have been done.
  6. That is the 440 six pack from the 70 Super Bee kit. It has never been in the 68 Road Runner or 69 GTX kit although it does share the transmission, fan, and alternator from those kits. The 68 RR and 69 GTX never had P/S which the Super Bee did have.
  7. I think Revell might have used that Cuda as reference when making the wheel lips for the 70 Hemicuda kit.
  8. No progress on the XR6, I've kinda hit a roadblock until I figure out how to build/mount the rear suspension. Trying to decide if I should modify the stock frame or just build up a completely new one from scratch. In the mean time I've been working on other projects.
  9. Since we are going to use modern wheels, headers, and possibly a few other changes I would vote for a "over restored" or custom paint to the chassis rather than a stock primer and overspray. Full body color on everything except the fuel tank, only not as glossy as the top side (i.e. no clear coat).
  10. Richie Valens had more than 1 hit, Harry. As far as the Big Bobber goes, with out Chantilly Lace we may not have the Beatles. One of the things that impressed John Lennon about Paul McCartney was that he knew all the word to that song.
  11. Sorry Ed, that tower is NOT, I repeat NOT in Chicago. There might have been a similar one in Chicago, but the one posted is not in Chicago.
  12. Maybe they were planning to share that grille with a Maverick that never came to market, that what it looks like to me. As to the Charger, some of the other things I see wrong could be due to the camera angle. There seems to be wiring that goes nowhere, linkage that isn't attached to anything, etc. Being that the Charger in question is not factory stock, some things can be over looked, but that by-pass hose just seemed to jump out at me.
  13. The most glairing detail that made me look closer at the charger's engine bay. There is a by-pass hose between the block and intake manifold, no B/RB or Hemi engine has any kind of by-pass hose like that, though a Chrysler LA engine does.
  14. I guess there is no point adding detail if you're just gonna glue the hood shut anyway...
  15. 68 Hemi Dart/Barracuda cars did NOT have Lexan door glass. The door glass was thinner than stock and made by Corning, regulators were omitted and a strap made from seat belt material was used to raise and lower the glass.
  16. Once you get licensed next you're gonna have to be insured to build....
  17. I've bought several items from Micro Mark through the years, needle files, micro drill bits, and these #11 style saw blades http://www.micromark.com/-11-size-saw-blades-015-inch-x-24-tpi-pkg-of-2,6570.html. the have 3 different ones that vary thickness and tooth count, they used to sell them as a set that included 2 of each of the 3 styles but they seem to have discontinued that. The only problem I have with Micro Mark is that their prices are high, a few years ago I discovered another place http://www.modelexpo-online.com/. Model Expo has many of the same items for a better price though each place has exclusive items.
  18. C'mon, say it Jim......"It's shiney"
  19. Harry, are you being sarcastic or have you completely miss the point ?
  20. What's the point of adding detail if its not accurate ??? Would you win a contest with a model if it had 30 spark plug wires because it has more detail than they guy who only put 8 on their model ???
  21. That is some nice detail, if you don't mind that there are MANY things wrong with it. Seriously, as modelers some of us complain about every new release and pick apart every detail. There are so many things wrong in that picture I don't know where to begin. If that is the kind of "detail/quality" that DM was know for I'm glad I never laid out any money for their stuff.
  22. I knew you'd find a cool hauler for this boat. Glad you're out of your modeling funk.
  23. A couple years ago I bought a built up of an XR6 off of ebay. When the kit arrived I found that it was incomplete but there were actually enough body parts for 2 XR6's. One of them was in decent shape, the other was a glue bomb. I will be using the better of the 2 bodies, the only chassis included, front suspension (VW torsion bars) and rack and pinion. It did come with the kits Slant 6, but I will be replacing it with one from the Lindberg 64 Belvedere. This is the glue bomb body parts This won't be a copy of the 1962 XR6 but a 21st Century interpretation of it. I already have a few changes in mind for it beginning with losing the goofy looking fenders (witch weren't included with my kit anyway). I just hope I have enough of a parts box to fill in what I'm missing since my real parts stash is still back home in Chicago. I might just scratchbuild what I need.
  24. BTW, the 383/440 with 727 trans drops right onto the engine/trans mounts in the Cuda. Fit around the bellhousing is tight but a little filing isn't a problem. I haven't tried fitting the 6.1 from the Magnum yet.
  25. Hobby Lobby hasn't reset their kit section in several months, they should be resetting sometime soon though and I would bet the Cuda will be on their shelves then.
