If you're building an early 70s Mopar its gotta be a High Impact color, if its a Ford, gotta go with a Grabber color.
-
My votes: 1. Grabber Green 2. Grabber Blue 3. Red 4. Grabber Orange 5. Calypso Coral Here is a link to Auto Color Libary's page for 1970 Fords, there are 2 pages. http://www.tcpglobal.com/aclchip.aspx?image=1970-Ford-pg01.jpg

That is the same issue I have with changing the seats, I think it looks strange when the front and rears don't match. I think we should keep the build simple and not stray too far from what is in the kit. A wheel change is easy enough but changing seats or engines or scratchbuilding new suspensions will only complicate the build.

I was wondering the same thing, is this a reissue of the Color Me Gone Max Wedge kit or the Ramchargers Hemi. I would rather see the Max Wedge version.

OK Jeff, it was just something that came to mind when I saw the pics of the door panels. I do hope that you won't be recreating the hole in the door panel for a missing speaker. The carbon fiber insert that Fred mentioned might be cool, maybe some on the dash and console too. It would look more modern on a Pro Touring car than woodgrain. I like the wheels that Casey added to this kit. I was also thinking about the American Racing 200S wheels from the 66 Chevelle wagon on this build (if anybody has a set, I don't). With either of those wheels a painted gunmetal (or maybe body color) center with shiney chrome outer wheel lip is definitely the way to go.

I have a question for the group. After looking at the door panels I notice that there would be several places where BMF would/could be used. Since I will be doing the BMF on this build, how should we handle that? I'm not sure who will be doing the interior assembly. Will they be doing the interior BMF or should they leave the door panels separate so that I could BMF them before attaching them. I'm to just talking about the door and window handles, it looks like the padded area of the "spear" has a chrome strip around it, same for the rectangular area of the rear section of the side panel. Let's work out who will be dong that and if the door panels should be attached or not.

You left out the 59/60 383 RB engine.

There is no need to worry about "mislabeling" the 383/440 from the Revell Dart kits, Revell did it them selves. The original kit was a 69 Dart GTS 383, then they reissued the car as a 68 Mr Norm's Dart GSS 440. They didn't retool the engine, just gave us a new decal for the air cleaner. Yes, there would be a noticeable difference even in scale between a 383 and a 440 but no manufactuer has ever given us a truly accurate B/RB Mopar engine to begin with so any of them could be called any of the various displacements : 350, 361, 383, 400 B or 383, 413, 426, 440RB.

Jack's model round-up
slantasaurus replied to mnwildpunk's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Jack's prices on current kits are very competitive. His prices on most of his "vintage" kits are a little above what can be found at swap meets and ebay, there are a few at a fair price though. Customer service is always great with Jack. If you don't have any swap meets in your area check with other online retailers for the kit you're looking for and then check ebay, if you can't find it at a better price then you can buy from Jack. -
Nice 57 Nick. I just got back from Chicago and I hope I have the parts I need to finish the Datsun now. I still have a lot of work to do....

Anyone else going to be at the DuPage swap tomorrow ???

The Blue Printer
slantasaurus replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If these were "first looks" at reissued kits it only took them what, 15-20 years or so to reissue the Double Dragster ? I'm still waiting for them to reissue the Sunbeam Tiger. All the others I agree, they were reissued within a couple years of being Blueprinter kits -
Here's the one I was looking for.... I like the Grabber Blue, only with the GT kit's hidden headlights and honeycomb taillights, but lose the vinyl top.

Found some pics, still haven't found the one I really like yet but these are nice. I could see the red one with the laser stripe in red/orange/yellow.

A few years ago I took some reference pics of a 70 Torino GT, if I can find them I'll post them. I took the pics planning on building this same kit.

After that TV show I think everyone does.

Cool idea Casey. I would be interested in being part of this build, I like to BMF whereas most modelers on the forum seem to complain about having to do that part of the build. The only real question is where does the model go when its finished ? Will it be displayed at any contests ? Maybe donated to the Model Car Museum in Salt Lake City ?

What if Nascar had approved Ford's SOHC engine and Chrysler had countered with the DOHC Hemi that was in development........

?Nascar kits
slantasaurus replied to retired & glad's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
An even better idea would be to give the Taliban some old Palmer kits, they'll wish we had used IED's instead. -
If I'm going to be home that weekend and go to the swap I might PM you Nick.......Then we can both get more kits we don't need.

Model Car Garage #2185 '71 Charger PE
slantasaurus replied to Ironman63's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have the MCG 71 Charger PE set but its back at home in Chicago and I can't post pics of it right now. It is one of MCG's nicer PE sets and includes almost everything you would want for a R/T. From what I remember it does not have any Super Bee emblems or 340/383 Magnum emblems for the hood, or the "Bee" that would be on the trunk lid. Most of the set would be useful for detailing a 71 Charger/Super Bee, but you might need a few pieces from a 69 or 70 Super Bee PE set for a few details.- 3 replies
