  1. My mistake again........I can't seem to find any info on the DuPage show and I'm not at home to check any of their old fliers for info or links. I might be back in Chicago next week though, I'll know later today. If I am able to get back there I will try to find out what I can.
  2. My mistake, the Countryside show is Oct 20. http://www.uniqueeventsshows.com/Countryside_Dates.html The Tinley show is Dec 1. http://www.uniqueeventsshows.com/Tinley_Park_Dates.html The DuPage show is Nov 24. http://www.scaleautomag.com/events.aspx?page=info&eventid=2142
  3. If you want to talk Electric car Swoopy, I prefer the Fisker Karma. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XtP4gJdAOrg/T-vGSp1mOyI/AAAAAAAAAr8/mPdhC55P4jM/s1600/Fisker-Karma.jpg http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/12/2009-fisker-karma_100170420_l_opt.jpg
  4. I'm no Mustang/Shelby expert but I think the black stripes and front spoiler were added to 69 GT 500s and the VINs changed before being sold as 70 Shelby GT 500s.
  5. I think the DuPage swap is Oct 20. I'm planning a trip back to Chicago and was looking to see what was coming up. I think the Tinley swap is Dec 2.
  6. Yeah, I said that 3 weeks ago.........
  7. That's because the members are well grounded.
  8. At least the discussion has been positive.
  9. The batteries used on modern T/F and F/Cs are only used to power the on board data logging systems. The clutch management systems are required to be pneumatic, not electronic.
  10. Being born in 1968 gives me a lot of great choices. Charger R/T ? Actually my favorite year Charger is a 71. Road Runner ? The original beep beep. Shelby Mustang ? Mr Norm's Dart GSS ? Corvette L-88 ? I think I'll go with the untamed beast of all of them. Super Stock Hurst Barracuda.
  11. Mark, the last time something cool wore a bow tie his name was Abraham Lincoln.
  12. At least on the "other" site all of the ads are at least related to the model car hobby. The ads that are coming up here are general ads for any kind of product or service. Most of the ads I've seen have been for insurance companies. We all come to the forum to get away from the real world. Seeing an ad for Auto World or a die-cast seller is fine by me, seeing ads for insurance companies or Viagra crosses the line. Ads like that will kill this forum and drive people back to the "other" place. I kind of wondered why when the forum came back online after the malware attack that Gregg wasn't complaining about how much the new server cost him out of his pocket, he obviously found a way to fund those costs.......to the detriment of the forum itself.
  13. Sure Nick, put me on the spot. Now the guy who couldn't even finish his 62 Dart for his own Cannonball last year has to finish 2 kits for this years Cannonball......LOL !!!! I'll try to get some pics of the PT up, its in primer but all the parts are still on the sprue.
  14. I remember the old Monogram factory in Morton Grove, IL. I used to live not too far from it and often rode my bike in the Forest Preserve that was behind it. The factory closed in the mid to late 90's and it sat empty for a few years. In the early 2000's I used to occasionally drive past it on my way to work and one day saw it was being torn down. I wish I had gotten some pictures of it while it was still there. Its now a Self Storage facillity, ironicly enough, I could use a storage space to store all of my kits. Side note, the job I was commuting to was just 2 blocks away from Revell's Northbrook location where they packaged kits for several years in the mid-2000's before moving to Elk Grove where they are now.
  15. This is a Cannonball, thats to be expected. Those weren't the parts I was refering to.
  16. Finally got the Datsun where I could mock things up. Stance is just what I wanted out of the box. Torsion bars and leaf springs, at least things are familiar underneith. I need to do some work to the engine to make it a little more streetable. If you look close you might see some of the secret parts of this build in the background, but you'll have to know what to look for and what you're looking at. I'm thinking of adding a second entry to the Cannonball, the PT Crusier but I've already started it and haven't taken any pics yet. I'll have to check with Nick to see if it will be OK.
  17. Maybe the police radio is for the "Bootlegger" option on the kit.
  18. The Belvedere Mopar show was also going on this weekend not far from Byron.
  19. I like Joe's Garage, but where are you going to find a 54 Dodge with a mashed up door ??? The Stratocaster with a whammy bar can be found in the 2006 Dodge Magnum SRT8 kit..........people are either going to get that or not.
  20. Anybody get any building done ?? I have most of the painting done but haven't glued anything other than the engine halfs together. I've also had a few problems with my kit. After stripping the chrome off of some parts I managed to lose 1 of the carbs, also I noticed the engine doesn't have a water pump, alternator or any belts other than the blower. Seems I'm gonna have to raid my parts box when I finally get back home. I'll try to get the chassis together in the next few days and post some pics so you can see what you'll be up against.
  21. Last weekend at a swap meet I picked up a kit of the Pacer Custom Wagon/Van (for $15 !!!!...look at ebay prices). Looking the kit over, the hood, front clip, and rear bumper are the only pieces that are really modified. Using the stock pieces from this upcoming reissue I will be able to build a stock Pacer Wagon, so maybe there is hope that the wagon will be reissued too in stock form.
  22. Actually the 1971 Challenger Pace Cars were not R/T models, Dodge never built any 1971 Challenger R/T convertibles. There were 2 383 Magnum Challengers used for pace car duty the other 48 cars were a mix of 340 and 318 Challengers. Another issue lending its hand in the pace car crash was the fact that the Challenger had drum brakes not disc, I'm not sure if they were power or manual drum brakes.
  23. I picked up a Testors boxed Iltari Porsche 928S4 off ebay a few years ago. Nice kit, full engine detail, and 1/24th scale.
  24. Rob, all I will say about my Datsun is. Don't leave your Fauxarri parked unattended for long.......
