I've never seen a blue shaker, but it doesn't mean it didn't happen. I do remember reading that Chrysler intended to have the shaker match the exterior color on all cars but the supplier had trouble with the paint sticking to the plastic they were made of. Since a Rallye Red 'cuda with a shaker was featured in the sales literature their lawyers informed them that they would have to offer at least red shakers to match what they had advertised.

Just like everything else on ebay, if you don't like the price don't buy it. -
Thanks guys but you might not like my Datsun very much when you find out who I'll be driving for, they happen to be the most feared company in Chicago.....

I've been working on the Datsun for the last couple weeks and I think I'll have it finished in time. Last night I finally got it up on wheels. There are a couple of detail I still need to work out though.

What's your build percentage?
slantasaurus replied to hotrod4ever's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I can only say that my build percentage is lower than the Cubs team batting average or winning percentage........ -

Any mopar guru`s here? (71 Cuda)

Something else to consider. The Elastometric bumpers were only available in a few of the colors that were offered and could have been ordered as both F&R or just the front in body color and the rear chrome. The grille was similar to the bumpers, only a few of the factory colors were offered for the painted grilles, the argent silver was standard with all colors. The Shaker scoop should also be dark argent silver, light argent was 1970. Red was the only body color that was ever used on the Shaker and that too was in 1970 only. -

3D printing growing as we speak
slantasaurus replied to bbowser's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
3D printing might be mainstream someday, but look at it like this........The Cubs fans have been saying "Wait until next year" for over 100 years and that's still not here. -

Something doesn't seem right.......Either that is a very large penny or that is not 1/16th scale. -
OK George I have to call BS. Did you really rebuild the rear suspension on a "Porche" 917 ??? First you should know it is spelled Porsche, second the 917 was a 12 cylinder full race car that was run in Can Am and Le Mans, not a street driven Porsche. I highly doubt that the Porsche factory engineers would have let a high school kid from Detroit work on one of their, at the time state of the art race cars. Don't worry, I do believe the old part.

Just for the sake of speculation. Whom exactly is saying that it is model car licensing that Revell is waiting on ??? Could it be an aircraft kit, ship, or licensed movie or other kit that is holding up the announcements ??? I know this is a model car forum but Revell's business model doesn't completely revolve around model cars.

The Stuff of Nightmares

It might have just been the camera trying to protest taking pictures of those things. -
OK, its mid October so everyone should be in a Halloween mood. Only click on these links if you truly want to be frightened, the images can't be unseen. I think the most frightening thing about these is that people have bid on them. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Lincoln-street-rod-rat-rod-roadster-barn-find-/300989473781?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item46145ee3f5 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1963-AMC-Rambler-770-wagon-CRAZY-RAT-ROD-/300988787837?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item4614546c7d

Never give a farmer a welder.....
slantasaurus replied to slusher's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Judging from the engine/front suspension I'll bet it was a late 80s/early90s Chevy truck. I really don't see what the big deal is, we've all seen barn finds before...... -
Testors 'Car Colors' from ca.1984
slantasaurus replied to 1972coronet's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
About a month ago I found a hobby shop that still has a few cans on the shelf !!! I can't remember which colors were there though. -
I'm all for the white interior but the red/yellow stripe I think adds the splash of color this car needs.
-
The wheels/tires are a little large for the car. That said, the front track on a Duster IS considerably wider than the rear track on these cars. If you look at a completely stock Duster notice how far the rear tires sit inside the wheelwells. Chrysler engineers would have liked to have used a wider rearend on the Duster but the accountants wouldn't go for it so they had to use a standard A body rear.

My vote was for Grabber blue, but I've been overruled. It's ok, I can live with the dark or light blue metallic. At least when I finally get around to building this kit myself it won't look exactly the same.
