I would have killed to have a car like this in high school in the sixties!!!!!
-
Your best bet is to get the up top version --- mine arrived yesterday and it includes the the up-top and the convertible boot ---- so you can go either way with it. By the way --- this is a stunning kit ---- EVERYTHING and I mean everything has it's own special zip style plastic bag (you can open and close them) ---- the castings are sharp and well done ----I did not see any sink marks but it does have its share of ejection pin marks --- not an isse for most modelers---- it is reminiscent of the quality of the Galaxie 46-47-48 Chevrolet releases -----only thing so far that I can see is that it needs white walls ---- should be no problem there though---- get one --- you will not be disappointed!! --- Revell-AMT etc should get their act together and strive to get to this level of quality ---- seriously!!! I would love to see these guys do some USA 30-40 vintage fat fender cars and maybe some 50's on the same level of quality as this kit. By the way --- this kit even boasts separate scale correct wiper blades ---- It is just that good---- Regards Bill (Duntov)

Straight up build right from the sixties --- Nice stuff ---- !!!!!! (I still wonder what happened to the original kits that I had ---- this tells me the reissue is worth acquiring.) Oh yeah ---- and the parts box air scoop kinda sets it apart from an OOB job --- neat touch really --- and no drag Chute ---- no problem!!! Any way I probably forgot the doggone thing (drag chute) when I built this when I was ten ---- and I am still forgetting stuff!!! ;O)

Just ordered the up-top version from Squadron Hobbies ---- should be interesting --- I like the idea of white walls ---- hopefully I have some Modelhaus wide whites in stock that will work --- will just have to see ---
-
Nice work Harry --- I really like it--- To your point --- The legendary John Allen (professional photographer and master model railroader) observed back in the mid-fifties that photos of a model close up bring out flaws that you just can't catch otherwise --- John was spot on with his observation and way ahead of his time---- Regards Bill (Duntov)

I have to second Michael's post --- you see and hear about these kits but few folks actually man up and complete them --- nice work!!!!
-
This is very well done --- looks like you did some good research on this one!!! Regards Bill (Duntov)

Some nice work here ---- I remember seeing one of these on the street in '67 ---- wicked fast car that was a real sleeper ---- you really caught the look on this one!!!
-
Paul: So many versions of the Rat Roaster and the Revell 32's out there and you built one that really stands out!!! Such a nice job on this kit --- love the color choice ---- excellent work!!!! Best Regards Bill (Duntov)

Tamiya 911 (older) Any Reviews or Information?
Duntov replied to Duntov's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Thanks David: The info is helpful... I did find a complete build up article from this site ----- http://www.modelersite.com/en/1695/porsche-911-turbo-88-a-step-by-step-project-for-novices-tamiya-1-24-scale It looks like they want a couple of bucks to down load the PDF article ---- here is a photo ----from the little I can see in the PDF sample you are spot on with regard to the masking ----- but they did a good job per the photo below --- I will probably attempt this one just because I don't have one in my collection ----- (Sorry the photo is "grab" so it is a bit grainy -----) but it looks like they got some good results overall. Thanks again --- Bill -
HI: Does anyone have any input or reviews on the older Tamiya 911 Porsche kit? I know this is a curb-side but beyond that ---- not much --- Any first had experience and or build notes would be helpful ----- Thanks!!! Regards Bill (Duntov)

Nice variation on a neat old kit------- Thanks for sharing!!!!

Hey there: This is (I think) ---- the definition of success……clearly an enjoyable build of a great old (original) subject….. I appreciate the incredible builds (to the new high tech kits) and the lengths to which many on the forum go to complete them --- aftermarket parts --- kit-bashing ---- etc etc etc etc ----- mods mods and more mods ------ ---- but this one is really what it is all about ---- Simple build ---- very nice workmanship ---- and clearly AND MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL ---- you enjoyed it!!!!!! It does not get much better than this!!! ----- Thanks for sharing this one!!!! Regards Bill (Duntov)

Yep Alan….my thoughts exactly…. just a bit of a nip / tuck here and there and few details and for the price you can't beat it….. Bill

I have to totally agree here….this is one of the best snap kits around and you have proven that with a bit of attention to detail a little time and BMF you can turn out a really nice addition to your collection….. Well done!!! Regards Bill (Duntov)
