  1. Hi: The build is simple---and so it is one of my favorites --- ( I seem to have a lot of favorites lately!!!) A combination of the Revell 37 Ford street rod (coupe) and a few other kits -- The chassis is from the 40 Ford Street rod convertible -- I eased the rear portion of the front fender wells on the 37 to get the wheel base to "appear" to be correct... I used the 40 Ford stock seat and the flat head and exhaust system from the kit. I added aftermarket heads, a Parks wired distributor and some over sized but nice Weber carbs from the now ancient AMT 63 Corvette with some added venturi's from brass tube and scratch built intake---(the flat head is improbable but hey it looks good---to me any way) radiator hoses are made from soft bead tubing and the wheels and tires are from the Revell 65 Chevrolet pick up kit... pretty simple stuff really --- door panels are scratch built utilitarian style as is the single wiper blade and arm--- the license plate is made from wine bottle tin and an old California black plate kit decal and last but not least the exhaust tips are made from chrome sprue drilled out and painted flat black on the inside----that's it --- take a look--- hope you enjoy.. (Maybe the front end needs nerf bars??? I had a limited customization budget back in 1967 - when I would have built this thing in 1:1!!!! ) Regards Bill (Duntov) Front -- Engine views---- Rear --- Interior ---

    Nice work here!!!
  3. Classy!!
  4. This is good news --- I have three of the Indy kits --- and three of the engines --- I love the kits but would really like to see the engines Chris did reissued as well --- Hope this is coming around soon ----
  5. I have the 70 Olds 442 coupe kit --- It is pretty nice and you can build up a decent representation of the real deal with it --- promo style chassis but personally I don't worry too much about that one small issue --- I suppose you could cross kit it with the Revell 72 convertible kits --- I have not tried but it might be worth a shot --- I did not realize there were so many other similar offerings in that line --- good info and these kits are worth picking up when you find them --- Regards Bill (Duntov)
  6. The info here is pretty much accurate as provided by the other posters --- The vintage AMT kit is getting a bit harder to find and mint examples are expensive--- you can easily convert the more plentiful 63 by altering the hood --- the "cookie sheets" as they are called can easily be cut out and replaced.... I any case there is not enough detail on the 63 to delineate it from the 64 except the cookie sheets and the hub caps --- 1:1 there were many chassis tweaks and the F.I. was more powerful --- 365 carb with solid lifters replace the 340 but again in model form it is near impossible to tell the difference.... the big interior difference was the gauge package --- both had a distinctive concave cone type gauge face but the 64 had flat black cones and the 63 had polished aluminum cones --neither vintage AMT kit has this minute detail and it would be quite an achievement to reproduce it in scale--- The original AMT 64 was kinda neat because it had a trailer that came with the kit --- just for that reason it is the better kit in my opinion--- Having owned both 1:1 cars I favor the 64 --- it was just dialed in a bit better than the 63 for the obvious reason... One other easy conversion is to use the plentiful Revell 63 snap kits and get the correct hub caps from ModelHaus --as mentioned by others you will need to remove the split on the coupe and in both cases replace the cookie sheets -- but in either case the work is not hard and well within the reach of an average modeler --- Good luck with this project --- Regards Bill (Duntov)

  13. I like this thread for three VERY important reasons---- 1) This is a really great build --- very well done!!! 2) Someone (Peter) took the time to actually offer some really great tips for improving the build and of course ... 3) John fielded the suggestion in stride and with a lot of class--- We need a lot more of this type of interchange on the forum --- Just my two cents --- Regards Bill (Duntov)
