  1. I figured I would offer since I had made the molds. I had purchased five 60 build ups to get most of what I needed to restore two of the 60s. I also bought three 59s. The hood hinges, radiator, air cleaner and continental kit parts were the hardest to find. So I cast those parts up. Like you said some of the body lines are missing but they look great finished. I had finished four of the builds and have the two 59 hard tops left. I recently broke a 59 front bumper but just ordered a replacment from Modelhaus. It may be six months before I see it but that is ok. I have had these for years now. I look forward to seeing yours built up! Let me know how you add the carved lines as that is something I have had trouble adding and keeping them strait.
  2. AMT did the 58 Thunderbird promos only, no kits were done. The kits came out in 59 and 60. What surprises me is that no one had done a 55 Thunderbird in 1/25. I do have a resin one of the 55 based of the promo.
  3. I understand that the auction will benefit one of his charities and that the car belonged to Carol Shelby and not Shelby American. Remember Carol Shelby closed Shelby the car company twice before and the current Shelby Company has been around since 98.
  4. That is a very nice start. You are correct that the 60 Thunderbird annuals are one of the first with the opening hood and engine. The 59 Thunderbird annuals have the hood molded shut just like the promos. So far I have restored four of these, a 59 convertible, 60 convertible, 60 hardtop modified into a sun roof car, and another 60 convertible that the emblems were sanded off and had a 59 interior. I made that one into a 58 convertible with Modelhaus 58 AMT promo parts as no kit was issued for 58 from AMT. I have two more 59s to restore both being hard tops. Doing these restorations I have had to make a few missing parts. I have molds that I made of the hood hinges and air cleaner if you want resin copies I can make you some.
  5. I'm going to have to get them mopar scoops!
  6. Those are all very nice!
  7. That came out awesome. Good job!
  8. Yes, Revell kit all the way. It is more recent tooling and the MPC kit dates back to the original 1966 annual and is not bad for its time period. You could take the MPC kit and kit bash the AMT 71 Charger chassis and engine comp and build a real nice one on par with the Revell kit. But now you have two or three kits to buy if you don't have them already. I have both kits and plan to build one MPC 67 as a 66 Charger useing a Modelhaus conversion kit (interior and 66 caps along with 66 dated bumpers). But I like some of the simplicity of the old annuals.
  9. You are correct that Mopar did not keep the best records but they were better at it than GM. It is a lot harder to fake one of these. No official 70 Daytonas were offered but a few were made. This is a 70 Daytona and it's is unknown were it is now but a clone of it does exist. See here. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3131175/1970-dodge-Daytona/ This is the 70 Daytona 440+6 sunroof car. It is documented and disputed. Another red 70 Daytona is out there but is believed to home built but no one knows for sure. It has a superbird nose on it. The 70 Daytona was planned but is rumored to have been cancelled as the 69 already existed and they could race it. If they offered it they would have had to make 1 for every dealership in business at the time. That is also why 1500 or so Superbirds had to be made instead of just 500 like in 69. All efforts went to the Superbird to keep Petty with Plymouth!
  10. Sorry to take your topic off subject. Your building a beautiful Superbird. I built one in petty blue and plan a Hemi Superbird with a bench seat interior from the 70 Roadrunner kit.
  11. I now of two Daytonas with vinyl tops. The green one with the wild stripes and Hemi. Plus a Plum Crazy 440 6 pack sunroof car. Both are 1970 Daytonas and both should not exist. Plus neither one has the flush mounted rear window. As for the 69 Charger 500 none were built with a vinyl top but 11 are documented to have dealer installed tops.
  12. Not a single part of the body is stock. The inner structure is aluminum and not steal. The fiberglass is thinner all to save weight and Zora hated the split window.
  13. Just a note. No 69 Daytonas had vinyl tops. Both the 69 Daytona and Charger 500 required more metalwork and a shorter trunk lid plus since they only needed to make 500 of them they could take more time to do it. For the 70 Superbird they needed to make 1500 of them and only the rear window was modified. So it was easier to hide the work under the vinyl top.
  14. While not truly a build with Missing Links resin kit just about all of these mods will apply using the Revel kit. Missing links interior is different and may require less work that what I did double up the MPC interior tub on top of the cast in interior floor of the Revel kit. I did buy Missing Links dash and the front spoiler for this built. Plus another dash, spoiler and a set of stock wheels for my other 70 Cyclone spoiler! My project had stalled and is unfinished at this point.
  15. Wow! I'm almost living this. I was born in 73 and my first car is my avitar. It's a 71 Plymouth Sport Suburban that I grew up in and learned to drive in it. I also still own it and just love it and have no plans to ever sell it.
  16. There is a company that sold lots of V8 conversion parts to put Chevy V8 in Jaguars. They are Jags That Run. They now sell V8 conversion parts for a lot more cars now!
  17. No, Those decals in the Mini Exotics picture came in the Mini Exotics kit. I took a picture of the decals I got in my Jimmy Flinstone kit.
  18. Here is a pic of the one I bought. It works with the Revell kit and looks pretty good. I have had this one for many years. I bought it in 2007 and still plan to build it someday. I don't know if the kit has been updated but it did come with decals. And for comparison sake. This is Mini Exotics kit that is no longer available. It is based on the old AMT kit and is 1/25. It also had the nose bent down and needs to be straitened. This was done to get it to fit into the box.
  19. The best one that I could find in my stash is in the Revell 66 Chevelle wagons and 66 El Camino. It is a separate cover and looks right. It just does not have any bolt heads.
  20. Here is a pair of AMT 66 Corvette annuals. The coupe is built as a 327 and the roadster was modified and built as a stock 427 roadster.
  21. Here is a MPC 70 Camaro SS that I restored. It was a clean built up to start with.
  22. If Revell is really coming out with a stock 70 Charger R/T next year. I'll surly get one even though I have 3 70 Chargers currently (1 built Modelhaus kit, 1 unbuilt Modelhaus kit, and a nice MPC rebuilder.)
  23. AMT 67 Barracuda annual. MPC 68 Charger RT annual. 68 Impala SS. MPC 72 Camaro SS annual.
  24. AMT 67 Thunderbird Annual MPC 71 Cuda annual. AMT 59 Edsel Convertible Annual. AMT mix 1960 Thunderbird with 59 bumpers.
  25. I have many to restore and love to rebuild them so here are a few of my mine. AMT 60 Edsel convertible. This is pic is right off of ebay. This is a 61 Lincoln Continental annual. This is a 62 Lincoln Continental Annual. This is an AMT 62 Thunderbird Annual.
