  1. I just bought one of these a few months ago. I must say it is an impressive kit and if you can afford it then it is worth it. I have wanted the kit for some time but it was really expensive at close to $400 at the time it came out. I just paid $245.00 buying it directly with shipping because the Japanese yen is so low right now. It took less than a week to arrive. I have not built it yet. The only other offering was from Mini Exotics and it has not been available for some time. They show up on ebay from time to time. I had one of those kits and it is not as nice as the MFH kit. It also is not complete and requires a donor Monogram 427 Cobra and no decals.
  2. The body's will interchange and all the 68 parts will fit it. The 69 kit is harder to find since it was not reissued. The 69 kit was the first issue of this tooling. It was modified into a 68 Mr Norms GSS Dart, then issued as a Dick Landy 68 GTS Dart and last the 68 Hemi Dart. So the 68 body should be easy to find. Keep in mind the first Mr Norms 68 had a vinyl top. Dartman is correct that the marker lights are different. But if I remember right the 68 Hemi Darts did not have front marker lights anyways since the used fiberglass fenders.
  3. Very nicely done! I have one of these MPC Cyclones kit bashed also with the Revell Torino. It has stalled because I just could not decide on a color. The green with the vinyl top is really cool.
  4. I got one today and the body was wedged in the box and warped also.
  5. I don't know the full story of the tooling, but the kits are from the same tooling. It would be difficult to backdate the 69 to a 67. The 69 has a peak on the hood that matches up the front grill mounting panel. The grills are different shapes and the rear tail light panel is completely different. Modelhaus offers the chrome and tail lights but not the rest. I know Modelhaus offers a conv 67 body. If you are looking for a 67 Barracuda. I may have one for sale.
  6. Yep. It had the Falcon dash with the long more rectangular looking speedometer, not the later round one. Friend had one in high school, another friend had a 67, and I had a 69. Those were the days. Russ That is correct. But the kit has a separate cluster that is on the chrome tree. The 64 convertible and the stock 65 GT350 use one style. The 66 GT350 has a different gauge cluster but is in that kit. Also the race 65 GT350 kits have a race only gauge pack!
  7. I don't know why it has not been issued in kit form. All the parts exist. When I built mine the white stripes were hard to find. Mine are Fred Cady but one of the last 66 GT350 kits had white stripes in it. BTW. Only 4 original 66 GT350 convertibles made in 66. I plan to build another one in blue. Only parts the real cars had that the kits don't have is AC! All 4 converts had AC. Shelby did commission some continuation converts later on in the late 80's or early 90's. I have a list of the four original convert serial numbers, 6S2375 Green/gold side stripes, supercharged auto. 6S2376 Yellow/white side stripes, 10 spoke wheels, 4 speed. 6S237 Red/ white side stripes, 4speed, chrome wheels. 6S2378 Blue/ white side stripes, 10 spoke wheels auto?
  8. I would love to see any 58 or 59 Ford. I just recently bought the Modelhaus 58 Fairlane 500 conv with all the trimmings. So with my luck that is the one that will be issued first. As it is I'm still working on my Modelhaus 72 Olds 442 convertible!!
  9. Here is a photo of my kit before I built it. Like stated above they are exact copies of the MPC annual parts.
  10. My LHS sold out of the Del Rio in days along with the 71 Ranger. To my surprise and theirs, they still had 2 of the 69 F100s. So I got one of them. Same thing happened with the Revell 70 Hemi Cuda. I got one of the first ones and it was so hot I traded mine away for a vintage kit I could not pass up. Funny part was that when the 2nd batch came out I grabbed one right away. I noticed that Revell fixed the 7 cylinder distributor that the first batch had!
  11. One day we will be paying that price for that 68 El Camino kit and bragging about the deal we got! It could happen, look at what we were paying in 2010 verses the new kits today! On the second eBay add! You have to read the description! Apparently the last buyer thought it was a real hood!
  12. I have only seen the street burner issue of the Baldwin Motion version. I don't think it has been issued a second time but may have had a second run of this tool with the same box. I know that is a modified reissue of the Monogram 70 Chevelle SS 454. I believe it was first issued in the early 80's.
  13. Also a little piece of trivia. Did you know that the Superbird is the only Mopar that the 426 Hemi was available in that did not have any engine badges anywhere on the outside? Every 2nd gen 426 Hemi car had either 426 or a HEMI badge somewhere outside except the Superbird!
  14. Nice project! I have built two of these and they are good kits. I built my first one close to 30 years ago when this first came out. My only mod was changing the wheels for rallys from the TA Challenger kit. My second one I built recently and still added the rallys. I also cut the exhaust from the rear axle separating them and adding rear shocks.
  15. I ordered two when he got back from vacation. I have them now and they are nice.
  16. I'm sorry to hear your friend has some hard challenges going on in his life. While I'm not sure how this is helping I will gladly post my Chevelles for you both to enjoy. I have built all of these and have many more to do. 66 Chevelle SS 396 Lindberg kit 66 Chevelle Wagon Revell kit 67 Chevelle SS 396 Revell kit 68 Chevelle SS 396 conv. Garage Cast Resin, AMT 69 donor. 69 Chevelle SS AMT kit 70 Chevelle SS 454 Revell kit 71 Chevelle SS 454 AMT original kit 72 Chevelle SS 454 AMT kit Here is my wife's real 71 Chevelle Malibu that we built in our garage.
  17. The doors are the same 68-70. Only the 70 R/T had a fake scoop attached to the door covering up the two scallop intentions. But that only applies to the factory correct cars. The movie cars are all customs.
  18. My first car is my avatar. It's a 71 Plymouth Sport Suburban. It was born as a 383/2v in beige. I was 8 or 9 when my dad brought it home in 1982. I learned to drive in it and have many memories with it. I bought it off my Mom back in 92 with my income tax return of $360. I had blown the 383 so it sat in the back yard. They would not give it to me for free and wanted to teach me some responsibility. Here is a pic of it in the back yard. It is sitting next to the 58 Thunderbird that was supposed to be mine. Plus another of my Dad's Thunderbirds. That one is a 60. He has a total of 5 Squarebirds. This is what it looked like when I bought it and put the 400 engine in it. Here is the oldest pic I have from when my Mom owned it. Next to it is one of my Dads other Thunderbirds, that one is a 59. As weird as it is to say, I really fell in love with this car and I still have it today. Someday I will finish the bodywork and paint it. This pic is now pretty old but it pretty much looks the same. It now looks like a 70 Sport Suburban instead of a 71. I changed the grill, hood and lower valance to the 70 versions. I also have another 70 for a parts car. I will reinstall all the wood trim when I paint it. It now has a build 440 with aluminum heads. It makes over 400hp and 500ft torque. The 727 has a shift kit, and 2400 stall converter, electronic ignition, 4 wheel disc breaks and custom sway bars front and rear. It is sitting on 17x8 front and 17x11 rear wheels. The 8 3/4 rear has a sure grip and 3:55 gears. I also have added Dual A/C, power windows, tilt, cruise (quit working), 6 way power bench seat, 140 Cop car speedo and the rare oil pressure gage (replaces clock)
  19. I'm not big on building Pontiacs of this era but this kit looks so good I have to have one!
  20. Check with Missing Link Resin. I bought two of their hoods for the 68 and 69 kits without the holes.
  21. Here is a link to the photo's I took of the show. http://smg.photobucket.com/user/darkrapid/library/Desert%20Scale%20Classic%202015?sort=9&page=1
  22. Amt did make the correct hood for that kit. Some of the AMT 69 GTX kits had the correct parts. Many of the rereleases had 68 Roadrunner hoods, grills and rear bumpers.
  23. The hood Modelhaus sells fits only the original annual 68 and 69 MPC Charger. I think it can be worked to fit the later 69 MPC Charger.
  24. I used the boot right out of the 73 Cougar kit. Kit is a hardtop but has this boot in it.
