  1. This is awesome work going on here, looking good. Good luck with your next mods!
  2. Hi all....updated pix of chassis and chassis mounted. Thanks for looking!
  3. Hi all, thanks for the comments. I've been working a bit more on the rear of the chassis and close to the point of paneling and making mounting brackets. I've also worked a lot on cleaning/smoothing the inside of the body from all the body mods and established mounting points. Now that the chassis is set, suspension start is getting closer. Thanks for looking!
  4. Thanks for the comments guys....excellent motivation. I hope to post some new pix tomorrow of the chassis progress and it's marriage to the underside of the body, turned out really good, I think. I took the time this past Sunday to clean/trim/smooth the inside of the body, really needed it because of all the body mods. Brett....Though I do like both materials, I do find styrene a bit easier to work with than the brass and will use it more in the future. There is a good bit of materials needed just to join brass together and can be extremely tedious and time-consuming.
  5. Yes sir Mr. Brett...looking very nice, like them all. Great job so far.
  6. Absolutely fantastic!!! Love it, finish it man, this will be awesome. Your work looks killer! I gotta couple bikes I'm working on also, they are fun to work with.
  7. This will be fun...good luck!!
  8. Some Chassis PIX
  9. Hi all, This is project #2 on the bench. This was a 2001 Rolex 24hr C5-R Vette that I almost had finished back in 2003 or so as it raced in Daytona, but with a different paint job. I could not find decals for one side, so it stayed in the closet for 7 years. Finally decided last year to chop it up to experiment with a Pro Mod build. Body has been lengthened in middle and front for proportions, wedged by adding new sides, lowered tops of front fenderwells and new hood. I've also made a scratchbuilt brass and copper soldered chassis. This one is on the backburner until I'm further along with my 69 Chevelle, think I may make these team cars. I do know two of my next moves for this one: 1) Shorten the length of top 2)Raise existing body bulges over tops of rear tires. Thanks for looking.
  10. Couple more....I'm trying not to bore you...lol!! Some PIX of scratched chassis progress so far Thanks For Looking!!!
  11. Some more
  12. Hello all, This one is over on the drag racing side, figured I would also post here since it is on the bench. This is one of two Pro Mod projects I currently have in process. I started this Chevelle as a Super Gas build close to a year ago and all donor running gear/chassis/motor parts were from the Pontiac STP Firebird Pro Stock. This was ready for chassis and body paint when I decided to experiment with turning into a pro mod, so the chopping began. The parts from the STP P/S have now been abandoned in favor of a scratched plastic chassis and mostly scratched running gear and motor. One thing is left from the P/S Firebird....molded Chevelle roof was cutoff and replaced with the firebird roof. Posting some pix of progress, hope you enjoy. Anyone who takes time to look, a sincere thanks, comments welcome. This has been the most fun I've ever had in scale to date. Started as Super Gas build Chopping to begin Pro Mod build
  13. Hi all, got an e-mail from a buddy @ my local hobby shop that had some cool pix. Thought I would share with you guys. I think I remember the Dunn & Reath in a picture somewhere, that's the only one I've seen of these. I don't know specifics about any of them. My fav is the one with whitewalls (sorta rat-fink/salt flat like with the cool shifter, last one). Does anyone know anything about this ride? Looks like an interesting project!! Hope you all enjoy, I did!!
  14. Hi guys, thanks for the comments. Been able to make some progress on the rear of the chassis and some sheet work on the firewall. Hope to make some good progress over the next week. Kane...I made the thin five spokes. I cut out the center of a set of fronts and then cut the actual blades of the rim out of sheet, then made a small template to locate outers, blades and centers. This will work well if you use cement, not CA. Cement allows you to move around a bit for lineup. Thanks for looking!!
  15. Wow Tyrone!! Everything's coming along quite well. What color is the chassis? Is it gunmetal? Looks a little darker than most and not as metallic, gives it a meaner, stealthy look. I like, I like! I don't know why the chassis color caught my eye so much on this viewing, but it did. I may go with a color similar to that on the Chevelle chassis. Good luck on the remainder of your build.
  16. I use several different diameters, personal preference only. I use .080 for the lower platform (tubes parallel and closest to ground), .062 for other main tubing, .047 and .025 for various supports. You have a project in the works?? Good luck if you do.
  17. Hello all. I've been able to make a bit more progress on the chassis...added the firewall and a good portion of the front clip. Also, I have the powerplant (will be fully blown) and some running gear started. The block is from one of the old T-bird pro-stockers and will be modifying that to....well, not sure yet, but will be current. The bell housing will resemble a Trick Titanium unit and the Lenco is a five-speed that I may cut a case out of to be a 4-speed. Thanks for looking!
  18. Bad to the bone!!! This was my fav on the site, but someone's Army Vega has now taken those honors....sorry. LOL. Seriously, this is a beautiful build. I can only hope my Chevelle will be this clean. hOLMS
  19. Oh yeah...that's what I'm talking about!! Nice 3D'ing....ready to see them as parts. I have a new fav, this will be awesome! Great work.
  20. Hello all. I was able to make some chassis progress today for the drivers compartment, also able to establish mounting points to body....fits pretty well. I hope to make it to having front suspension this week while finishing the body. I'm using .093 on the main rails, .062 on the other main tubes and .045/.025 for support tubes. I'm using varied sheet thk's for body mtg brkt's. Thanks for looking!
  21. Great build...always liked this car. I also have one of these, thought about tubbing it out as you've done (maybe one day?). Great job!!
  22. Thanks for the comments/feedback guys! I too liked the first hood bulge, but it was way to weak, really used that only for hood cutout dimensions and a visual. The second was close but still lacked the look in person (2nd was the one I liked better). This third one does look better in person and does sorta have the cowl thing going on, probably sticking with this. I started some chassis work last night, I have the main platform rails laid out and hope to do some more this evening. Included couple pix of the start, using styrene tubing. This is my first attempt at a chassis in plastic, hope it goes well. I usually go with soldered brass, we'll see what happens. Thanks for looking!
  23. OK Chris, so it's been maybe 10 to 15 min since your post above, where's those model images at?!?.....We're waiting, LOL. Seriously, I'm digging this build. Can't wait to see those images and the items they will turn into. This is very cool stuff!!
  24. I think the way you did that was a great idea...way to go. I think I may try that for some sheet parts. I use SolidWorks and Alibre (very similar to SW). I'm working on some front rims in Alibre. Good luck with your build; more important, have fun as I'm sure you are!
  25. Here's one of my front wheel designs in the early stages of 3D modeling. I have more, this is the only design I've photo rendered so far. I may machine them, though I'm looking into several processes to make these. Thanks for looking.
