  1. Impersonator? You WERE hallucinating as Elvis was in the building.
  2. And here I had thought that you would have made valve cover racers out of them?
  3. I was at my local Michael's store today and saw their cans of spray paint locked up, and so far it's the only store around here that locks up spray paints.
  4. John, I don't think that many of us builders have Unimats.
  5. Doug, the '68 Dodge Coronet you wish for, is available from Modelhaus and it looks real good. I should start on mine someday soon.
  6. A LOT of people don't realize that when they're on vacation visiting different places or parts of the world that look great to them, that they are on vacation and not living there. I've been to California a few times and like it a lot just like the many other places I have visited. Visiting a special place and living there are two different things and are not to be confused with paradise. I do wish that when I was much younger, like in the 60's that I had spent a couple months in California checkin' out their drag strips every week though.
  7. Welcome to the forum Sonny as this is a great place to be. There's a lot of older guys on this forum, but we have a wealth of knowledge and experience that you can tap into. Enjoy the hobby.
  8. That '60 Olds is a big boat, as I learned how to drive in one of them a LONG time ago. And yes I had to parallel park it also.
  9. Buying phone replacement insurance is betting (gambling) that you're going to lose or destroy your phone. I usually take real good care of my stuff.
  10. Don't forget that the joys of living in southern California includes drought, wildfires, mudslides, and earthquakes too. I loved it the first time I visited California and had an excellent chance to move out here back in the 70's. Glad I passed up the opportunity for several reasons other than what I had already mentioned.
  11. Welcome to the forum Gary as this is a great place to be. That's a lot of rigs you've got there. I built a couple myself back in the 80's, but they take up a lot of room.
  12. Grilling steaks, baked potatoes, and veggies for dinner pleased me. I shoulda grilled a few shrimp also.
  13. We changed our provider and cell phones today and it irked me how long (2+ hours) I had to be in that store. It reminded me of buying a new vehicle where you sit there for hours while they get all the paperwork in order, try and sell you things like lifetime protectant, extended warrantees, etc. etc. etc.
  14. Don't forget that the S.L.A.M. club now meets on Thursdays from 6 - 9 p.m. during the summer months. We'll be meeting THIS Thurs. (21st.) and I hope to see some of you there.
  15. I remember riding in one of those '59 Plymouth Fury's back in the day when they were brand new. My father had a friend who had just bought one, and my dad borrowed it to take the family to Buffalo for a few days. What a sweet car.
  16. It's comin.'
  17. Yes, even the weather forecaster seem to over exaggerate any kind of precipitation that may or may not be coming your way. I was going to a big drag racing event several years ago, until the forecasters made me change my mind. Not only was I sorry I didn't go, I was LIVID as no bad weather took place. Of course one factor was that the drag strip was a three hour drive away also. I'm almost to a point where I'm going to stop watching the weather forecasts, and just look in my daily newspaper and on Google.
  18. Why would people, especially retired people want MORE rules and regulations?
  19. When I was much younger I used to yank out engines and transmissions, rebuild and modify carburetors, install headers, mufflers, etc. Since I've been there and done that and I'm quite a bit older now, I've had enough of that and have a mechanic I can trust. I do change the oil on my ride so that I can "bond" with the car. LOL!
  20. Excellent tutorial John, and thanks!
  21. Great pics, and BTW, ALL batteries should be in the trunk as it makes a big difference in launching and handling of the car. I lived a couple of miles from Grand Spaulding Dodge back-in-the-day and bought a Super Bee from him back in '69. I still have the "paperwork" but not the car.
  22. I know guys who have had and still have project cars sittin' for five or more years. One of them was a body shop that was doin' the restoration. Then there are guys who tear apart their cars only to lose interest in it or run out of money, so now all they have is a "pile of parts" takin' up a lot of space. Cars are meant to be drivin' and that's where the fun is, driving and enjoying a collector car and checkin' out other rides at a car show or cruise night. They ain't NO fun sittin' in the garage.
  23. I'm glad that my builder didn't even mention and association or I woulda said "see yah." The rules set by the village is enough for me.
  24. Miles, what fun is it to have a project car sitting around for years when you could be out ENJOYING your ride???
  25. What do you mean, no B-400 Art? Flintstone has offered one for awhile now. I definitely would like a Big Drag kit, even if I am short on room to put it.
