Oh! When I first saw this I was reminded of the Toyota truck that the crew at Top Gear (U.K.) beat the heck out of and it kept running. Your beater looks very realistic. Job well done.

The thing I love about Shannon's builds are the imagination of so many of them. While she can build a 32 Ford with the best of them it's the flights of fancy that come off looking so plausible that sets her apart. Great work Shannon and thanks for posting these pics Dr. Cranky.

News Stand Flash
peter31a replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I picked the mag up tonight at the grocery store. Went through it 3 times page by page looking for anything referring to good ole Doc Cranky. I thought they had a review of his book or featured his models or something about Virgil Suarez but nada. So I come back here to read this thread and I see good ole Doc was just saying the issue was really good. Geez I sure get muddled sometimes... -
the "NEW" Hudson, but you cant tell by looking at it
peter31a replied to Lanny Haas's topic in Model Cars
That is a great tired out old Hudson! Gotta love it when someone drags something like this out of the barn after many years....What? Model you say? Excellent! -
Yep, used sprue cutters. In hindsight razor saw or photo etched cutting blade might have been better.
-
I was hoping to use the Olds grill but broke the grill suround trying to get it off the sprue. Not sure what I'm going to do but for now this is a heads up to those ham handed like me.

Chuck, To the best of my knowledge he doesn't sell any resin through the shop. At least the last time I was there that was the case but it's been a few months since my last visit.

Prep Process--What's Yours?
peter31a replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
HHmmm.... Let's see: Open the box and enjoy fresh styrene smell. Sand tire tread Try to remove mold seams from body. Obliterate body shapes while trying to remove blasted mold seams. Add more scratches to body while still trying to remove blinkin' mold seams. Get extremely frustrated. Throw body back in box with nicely sanded tires and put the whole thing back on shelf. Repeat with next fresh model.... -
BAZINGA! That's a fantastic thing of beauty! That is one of the sweetest rods ever and the colour combo is the bomb as well too! Job well done, sir.

Dude! That is totally grody! And I mean that in the nicest possible way. Great work!

This is just cool!

Well Harry, if you use them to count with perhaps they are....... -
The only thing I've seen on Spotlight is some hints about getting the kit built to help correct a couple of foibles in the instructions. A couple of 'maybe it could have been better done this way' comments but there again given in respect to the company. Anything posted on that site has only been helpful to fellow builders and nothing, I believe, would offend Moebius.

Yeah, the whole thing drives me crazy. Still haven't received issue 161 yet but the MCM subs renewal form made it here in 6 days counting the weekend. How they can get some stuff delivered so fast and take forever on other stuff is just beyond me.

Just got #160 today. (Canada Post must have found a new mule to replace the old one..) Anyway just wanted to say that it's a great issue guys! Thanks for all the hard work and I look forward to #161. Should have it in about a month if Canada Post doesn't misplace their new mule....

Wow! That's a lot of work you've done to that little puppy. It turned out great! Love the wheels and colour turned out great. Thanks for sharing.

Oh my! What IS in the air down there? Another great Doc Cranky and Eyegore build! Look forward to seeing this placed in a diorama setting.

That's a great build and like others have said it's great to see that Flintstone body built up. I can almost feel the wind in my hair just lookin at it.

Wooo Hoooo! Issue# 161 arrived today!
peter31a replied to Danno's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
September 15th and I'm still waiting for issue 160. I was in a hobby store on Monday but only looked at the cover as didn't want to spoil it for when my own mag gets here. When it comes to magazines Canada Post defines the words SNAIL MAIL! Thanks for letting me vent. We now return you to your regularly scheduled forum... -
That is a sweet little 1/43 build. Like others have said it makes me look forward to the upcoming Moebius kit even more. Thanks for posting.

Yeah you're probably right Darin but some things they are real quick with. E-Bay purchases usually show up fairly quickly but it takes them a month or more to deliver a magazine. -

Sheesh I live in Canada which is a lot closer to Denver than Switzerland and I'm still waiting for #160! I said tongue in cheek when everybody started posting about #160 that I would probably have it to read mid-September. It seems like I was inadvertantly right. Oh well at least I have the forum... -
Isn't that the proposed Mars Rover?
-
That looks like a pretty nice clean build. You did good with that sweet little Civic.
